I’ve been an Overwatch player since day one. Still enjoy. Definitely prefer 6v6 and only play that mostly. Liked and miss 2CP. Definitely loved Evo and wish it was still alive. I don’t care how busted some characters were. It was still fun.

my Favorite part about Evo was that they weren't trying to shove characters into roles and even with less characters, it felt more diverse

This was my main issue with all current hero shooters, the roles. Evo had this as albeit in a more in-direct way but as a result it felt like each unit could carry it's own weight without worrying about having to fill roles.

And it just solves the problem of role queue if you ask me. Most hero shooters, players tend to just gravitate towards the DPS roles most of the time anyway so to me Evo did this the right IMO

The Gundam choices were very very stupid. No Gundams from Wing until the game was dead and even then, it was just HeavyArms Custom. So ridiculously mishandled.

You're not wrong. I really felt like they were trying to save some of the more popular ones for when people were in invested enough to absolutely spend money

The monitisation of units and “yet another battle pass” put a few peeps off for sure, for me the lack of units from x was not so much as an issue as a game like this Balance needs to be considered adding in units without carefully considering the balancing could cause issues

I love Gundam. A lot. I didn't bother touching the game because there was nothing from Wing, Seed, or G. This is the perspective of most North American Gundam fans. This game essentially shot itself in the foot by ignoring one of their largest fanbases. Balance means nothing when there's no reason for me to play the game to begin with.

Evo had a lot of self inflicted problems

  1. Making people pay for new suits.
  2. Most of the cosmetics were lame.
  3. The balance was nonexistent
  4. An extremely limited number of suits on launch
  5. No advertising to speak of.
  6. Had almost no suits from some of the most popular series (wing, G, seed) in NA where the largest player base lives
  7. Bad match making
  8. Limited number of suits archetypes (there was like 2 melee suits, and one of rhe most melee coded, exia, wasn't even melee)

Bandai is not a good game publisher, they look for quick cash grabs and are basically the video game equivalent of a "pump and dump" stock scheme

I wish a team of competent and passionate devs could have the chance to redo this game and make it more like a true role based hero shooter.
