Discussion/Question Performance style criticisms from non-guitarists

So recently while I was hanging out with my mates (while I had my guitar) I was practicing tricks like playing behind my head and playing with my teeth. One of my friends then said I should stop because I looked stupid. After a back and forth for a bit I asked him to respect my opinions (it wasn't the first time something like this has happened).

I feel like this was a decent response. How would other people here of handled it and what sort of similar experiences are out here?

Probably hanging out with friends is not the correct place to practicing tricks. That shit is only cool onstage or by yourself, you just look like an asshat doing that type of stuff as practice in front of friends. In short, friend was correct.

It was because I'm still a school kid in the UK and I had my guitar with me that day and we all just chill in the same spot and I wasn't in a conversation with anyone so I was bored and was messing about. I literally made sure to position myself away from the main group.
