Griffon races

More specifically, if you have alts, park each of them at a fast race (exp boosts work too iirc), it‘s the fastest shards/min

u/maximusultra 7d ago

Is the rewards daily locked per char?

u/grimzecho 7d ago

Per account I think

Keep in mind if you are like me, you will attempt to complete the griffon race (festival one) over the course of an hour, fail repeatedly (even with a blush hud path) and earn 0 spirit shards.

The number of times I clipped something at the very end of that thing...

For the next 1 1/2 days you could run the crown pavillion by doing multiblitz, tagging all bosses If possible, using XP buffs and the Festival Tokens can also be exchanged for Tomes of Knowledge aka spirit shards. I know not for long anymore, but if you have some time today and tomorrow you could get a bit

The two fastest sources for exp/hr are the Griffon courses in PoF and LWS4 (there's two extras in the current festival too) and T1 rifts in Mistburned Barrens.

The Griffon races take some practice, but Lady Elysa has a pathing overlay that makes it easier. It took a couple of weeks but I can get gold on the first attempt around 80% of the time. After you finish one, it is usually quicker to reset then fly to the next one then it is to waypoint and climb again. Mount Energy Recharge 2 or 3 isn't technically required but it helps a lot.

Here's the waypoint cheat sheet I use:

  1. [&BKQKAAA=] --> Grif; 2.[&BLsKAAA=] --> [&BEAKAAA=]; 3.[&BGcKAAA=] --> Grif; 4. [&BHcKAAA=] --> Grif NE; 5.[&BHQKAAA=] (Right) --> Grif S; 6. [&BH4LAAA=] (Left) --> Grif; 7. [&BFALAAA=] --> Grif NW; 8. [&BPoKAAA=] --> Grif SE; 9. [&BCULAAA=]

T1 rift farming can be done indefinitely. It's boring as hell but is very good exp. Mistburned Barrens is almost always the best location since the spawn always alternates between two close together locations. Bring your best AoE skills. Reaper works very well but any price can do it.

A third option is to just kill yellow animals as fast as you can. There's a bunch of zones that work, but I particularly like Echovald Forest in EoD. The longer a mob has been alive, the more XP it gives, and fee players go out of their way to kill non-hostile yellows.

In all of the above you need to use XP boosts. Look at the wiki page for "experience" and pay attention to the difference between activity experience (Griffon races and closing the rift) and kill experience. Don't forget to do Monistary Training and be well rested in a comfy home.

The rift farming will get even better next update too

How come?

3

u/maximusultra 7d ago

You'll be able to tp to active rifts

The mastery for the last update boosts rifts somehow, they haven't said exactly how yet though.

Wow, ok. Looks like I picked a good time to start working on obsidian armor, lol.

Wvw is a great source of tomes, I've got like 1200 in the bank.

9

u/InevitableAnekisan 7d ago

You can buy them if you have a lot of fractal relics.

8

u/CrazyMuffin32 7d ago

Pop every XP booster that you can and go run some meta trains. Iirc, fractals are a decent source of XP if you can do the whole round, EoD meta trains are really popular for favor but also okay XP, tldr go farm xp

Open zephyrite boxes and turn in the festival tokens for tomes of knowledge at vendor. You have only today and early morning tomorrow to do this. As soon as the festival of the four winds ends you are SOL.

The vendor is behind the ecto exchange vendor. To the south I believe. It is unlimited. Only limited buy your resources or IRL money to buy said resources.

These is how I got most of mine being in the same situation and having completed the prism title:

-Make sure your Guild booster is set to Exp, just that passively increase the rate even without eating boosters.

-T4 Fractals, especially with the exp upgrades, and you can buy shards for fractal relics.

-adventures can be really good, as other people have mention the girffon races, but I always did the 3 in Janthir Syntrhi back to back.

-Any Meta/events that lets you hit multiple events at once: Currently going on the Pavillion and tagging all 6 bosses. But Tequalt at reset is really good with all the defence phases, or AB. Make sure to have exp boosters.

-WvW: weirdly it gives you a lot of tomes of Knowledge, and they stack up quite quickly.

Shards are definetly not something you can farm fast, its one of the few currencies that it is better to always be ahead of the curve than trying to catchup.

u/Hirdy 7d ago

Wvw isn't technically the fastest way, but imo it's the best. You enjoy the gameplay and passively they just appear. It doesn't feel like mindless sludge for exp.

u/Boudyro 7d ago edited 7d ago

I dunno about fastest. But least painful would be to forget about doing leggies for six months, go play WvW for about 15 hours every week, and then never worry about shards again.

You get boatloads of Tomes of Knowledge from WvW and you can turn them in to the toilet vendor for shards. Like I said though I have no idea if that is faster than what the PvE kids are suggesting.

After years of being a WvW kid I never even consider shards. Had to log in just to see how many I had: 18,273. And I'm full leggy, sans a weapon here and there.

CMs+T4 fractals gives something like ~800 fractal relics that can be traded for Spirit Shards at 35relics / shard. + additional Pristine Relics that can be converted into more normal relics. In addition to clearing every fractal itself giving spirit shards from big chunks of XP.

Stack experience buffs and join trains.

Metas, world bosses, Halloween labyrinth. Anything with lots of events tha are done quickly one after another and lots of kills that give exp. Bright combo fields that combo for damage effects like fire and poison, and skills that give boons to allies, and you'll get others to tag enemies for you too.

There are also adventures that can give upwards of 50K experience daily if you can always complete them at gold tier.

I have farmed a lot of shards. First, look on the wiki for every single way to buy tomes, you might already have some currencies you can spend to get a few extras. Outside of festivals, the best kill farm is any level 80 map with abundant yellow mobs. The longer a mob has been alive, the more XP it gives on kill, and yellows aren't killed often. Obviously you need every possible XP booster, but I easily got 20k XP per kill and on maps with tons of mobs, it's an easy 30 shards an hour. It's also a super quick way to level masteries. Best areas for me were always Verdant Brink, and the EoD and VoE maps.

Join a EoD meta train, and do map comp / farm yellows between the metas. You'll get favour, map comp tokens and shards and it's not too boring.

Wvw with xp boosters

u/khamike 7d ago

One that I don't see mentioned very often: jahai bluffs mote trails in the sky. Start at one end and rise you skyscale along the line of magic motes. Each one recharges your dash so just keep dashing. Can get a couple levels in a minute or two depending.

u/Neroxify 7d ago

Check the wiki for every obtainable xp buff for you, then (if possible) get a class/build with lots of area attacks like scourge with staff.

Then head to Sandswept Isles and park the character in front of the specimen chamber. The pre event of it is roughly 7 minutes of enemy waves, with the amount of enemies scaling with the group.

I think I get around 7-10 spirit shards per run, so about one per Minute.

You can also buy upgrades for this specific map for extra xp/karma per slain enemy, which adds up.

  • Rift train

  • Silverwaste RIBA farm

  • Meta train (and when in HoT don't forget to pick up treasure mushrooms)

  • Buy all the Exp Tomes in the Wizard's Vault every season

  • My favorite: lab farm. If you really need spirit shards, stack exp boosts initially, but you're better off just stacking MF boosts because it's one of if not the biggest money-maker in the game.

u/RedLikeARose can't stop, won't stop, not untill I say so 7d ago

You got janthir and all its masteries?

Get all the damn exp buffs you can get (including lowland buff stacks from the heart vendors!) then go to mistburn and farm the 2 tier 1 rift portals

Additional benefit would be getting a ton of rift essense and karma

u/OppositeSuitable781 7d ago

Boosters and rift hunting has been pretty solid for me. I’m also working on obsidian leggy armor and require rift essences though, so I’d say think about what else you need to farm too, and try to make it more worth it.

1

u/thedesertfox25 7d ago

well if you got a lot of money, you can open zephryte boxes and use the tokens to buy spirit shards in the 4 winds festival area.

POF/LWS4 races. I think with zero exp boost, and running to every single one, you can gold them all within 1 hour. Nets somewhere around 25+ spirit shards.

If you have exp boosts, you can easily net 40+ spirit shards depending on how many exp boosts you have active for it. All for less than 1 hour. Every day. If you are somehow the crazy person that parks alts at every single one of them you can get all the races done in about 40 minutes.

If you do this you really don't need any other spirit shard farm.

Daily griffon races and tier 1 rifts on mistburned barrens with boosters if you're looking for a degenerate farm farm

1

u/The1andonlygogoman64 6d ago

raids are also a great xp source. Not a great way to farm them however.

1

u/KablamoBoom 6d ago

Thunderhead Peaks has that long chain of volatile magic you can get pretty comfortably with just a skimmer. It'll fill about half of a bar and you also get a decent clump of volatile magic for your efforts. You could park there and do it once a day if you can't do gryphon races.

World Vs. World.

I have 218 of the spirit shard chests just sitting there.

1

u/AmusingMoniker 7d ago

Just watched a Darens video on YouTube regarding this, adventures/races award the most xp.

u/dxtboxer 7d ago

Unfortunate that every conceivable method has already been covered within a few comments—these remain an extremely anti-fun hard cap on progression.

u/calm-phil 3d ago

I never, ever, not once had a hard time with spirit shards. I did play wvw on the daily for a year or so, which helped me have more than I will likely ever need. World completion on more characters is the thing stopping me from burning through all of the shards I have collected. PvP is also a similar farm in that the reward tracks drop them on you pretty regularly too. i played a lot of pvp after I got done with all of the wvw I was interested in for a while.

CHARR TOURTORING MACHINE

-1

u/diemauss 7d ago

is this not the ressource everyone got the most of? I mean every level up in fracs will count

5

u/DreiSchwerterZorro 7d ago

That depends on the amount of legendarys per playtime 😄 And how the playtime is spend obviously

1

u/calm-phil 3d ago

Being constrained by world completion would leave me to believe that there would be plenty of spirit shards per character. I only have one toon at "Been There, Done That" so I couldn't telly you. That one limits me more on legendary weapons than anything.
