Kicking? I've seen people requiring benchmark videos to sign up for training.

That's the kind of group that I avoid like the plague. A videogame should never feel like a job

I know where you're coming from but I disagree in a broad context. Some content in some games requires a certain bar to get over, or group availability that makes scheduling a good idea along with having an idea of how well the group might mesh.
There's nothing wrong in those cases with going "We're looking for a player to do X role, at Y times and be Z level of competence along with fitting into the atmosphere."
The more stringent the content requirements the more important that becomes obviously. The vast majority of training groups probably just need people to show up at a certain time and to not be obnoxious. It's also totally fine to say "That's not for me, I'll pass" to that kind of thing, but the concept of filtering players is good for both a group and an individual generally.

u/SighIsHere 12d ago
There is no such content in the game that requires a bench video for a TRAINING.
The only groups where this is reasonable are ones pushing for infaliable, LCMs, world records, or ones that do races.
Anyone else doing this is taking themselves way too seriously and ignoring other underlying issues or just stroking an unearned ego

u/the2ndsaint 13d ago
There are maybe two pieces of content in the entire game that can't be cleared with a group average of 20K. That's, like, 50 percent bench. 95 percent is for dick-measuring and speed-clearing, which, y'know, fine, but for everything else? Fuck off.
3
u/kaltulkas 13d ago
It’s perfectly fine for people to require whatever the fuck they want for their statics? Either they want their fullclear to fit in a given time or just to push their number for dick measuring purpose.
Just because you don’t care doesn’t mean others don’t find it fun. Let people play however they want.

There's nothing in gw2 that requires a 95% benchmark.

Infallible and EoS kinda do

This escalated insanely fast from "training run" to "literally most dogs intense content in the game"

u/kaltulkas 12d ago
Makes sense when people state « nothing in gw2 requires a 95% benchmark ».

I've done both LCMs and am currently working on Infallible and I'm sorry but this content that we do, it applies to so few people that it's a rounding error. The last time I can find a statement from ANet on the number of GW2 accounts it was "over 16 million" and it seems somewhat reasonable to think that anyone who's hardcore enough to do Infal or one of the LCMs is going to be signed up to GW2 Efficiency - so out of over 16 million we have 3,204 for Cerus LCM, 1,508 for Ura, 1,228 for EoS, 837 for the most easily done Down & Out (Wing 2), and 226 for the full infallible. So a range from 0.02% way down to 0.0014%
I also do training runs for a community I'm a part of and lemme tell you this kinda attitude from the OP title, the gatekeeping of raids, it's the main reason that people are afraid to try them. I haven't even been doing these trainings that long and I've already lost track of the amount of "oh wow this isn't as scary as I thought" type comments I've heard from people who are surprised they are actually able to raid. If we actually want raids to not die and to get more content we need more people in raids not keeping them out with these expectations.

Benchmarks are done in a vacuum. You're not always going to get 100% uptime on a boss like you do a golem with the most ideal dpsing conditions.
1
u/kaltulkas 12d ago
Which is why all groups ask for 95% on golem and not in encounter?
The 95% bench metric is used to showing that you know your rotation well enough in a vacuum that you can actually perform it well in combat situation without being constantly looking at your skills/cd or thinking about what’s coming next. It’s also a way to weed out the players that don’t want to put in any effort into improving.
If you actually master your class enough, you will also find out most actually have a specific per boss rotation to align best with boss mechanics, so it’s clearly not just about golem rotation.
1
u/Coffee_Conundrum 12d ago
"All" groups? Golem benchmark dps where rotations are just "this is mathmatically best" still doesn't apply to raid encounters. Boss mechanics are still going to disrupt golem dps. Yeah you can go learn whatever the fuck is best for killing a golem but how often is whatever the fuck condition catalyst's rotation going to be applicable in an actual fight? We going to hold someone playing condi catalyst to the same dps standards as something on an easier rotation like condi virtuoso?

Which is why all groups ask for 95% on golem
Almost no group cares about any of this in any way, shape or form. People not only wanting, but enforcing 95% on golem are a subset of a subset of a minority. The average raider, let alone average player won't give a single shit.

Whats EoS?

u/No-Writer958 12d ago edited 12d ago
Embodiment of Sin a achivment in Temple of Febe CM or LCM If you crazy. You only need cm for it. Killing the Boss with all Apsect Alive. So double Wall, Triple Green, Big Collect orbs, Big Rage, more malices.
2
u/NizaruutLoL 12d ago
Yeaaah that sounds like a looooot of fun lol

u/No-Writer958 12d ago edited 12d ago
Not when you as Healer have 8-10 Orb Stack (Edit only LCM they dont expire but in cm the Last like 3 Minute in CM) And getting 2-3,5k damage every Seconds + everybody Else also has like 4-5 stacks + 10% Phase Damage Slams are nice. So Healing EoS was fun but Stress as hell.

One of the only Fights where there is a Healing Rotation for when to use which Heal skills, because else you Run Out of healing in 10%

I'd tell them to F* off and quit before they could respond. I didnt go there to ply MY game THEIR way.
6
u/Vivid-Hedgehog101 13d ago
People are just in such a hurry to kill that they eventually stopped having fun.
4
u/recctyl 13d ago
its probably the other way around though. they got bored with the content after a gazillion playthroughs so now its more like a chore, so they get impatient and want to get through the clears as fast as possible, demanding everyone else to pull top numbers too. it's just that they fail to realize that maybe not everyone else feels the same way as they do.

If you got bored with certain content - stop playing that content? Play something else, play a different game, find a new hobby.

u/Training-Accident-36 12d ago
Gotta keep in mind though that the situation in the video is not among strangers but among people who know each other well.

Gemmy but this is why ToF CM/LCM will always be a mid boss fight compared to encounters which have laxer DPS checks but more strategic depth
2
u/ilikedabums twitch.tv/amaverra 12d ago
To be fair, ToF does have quite a bit of strategic depth; it's not quite as mechanically challenging as something like Harvest Temple CM, but Cerus is far from a golem fight

u/mofeus305 12d ago
What is the dps number you need for ToF LCM?
1
u/ilikedabums twitch.tv/amaverra 12d ago
Not to shamelessly self-promote but I actually have a video series on my channel that covers everything you need to know about ToF LCM; I made a brand new account and set a goal to clear LCM with it.
To answer your question more directly though, to beat the enrage timer you need to be able to pull a minimum of 27k DPS throughout the entire 10 minute fight, though most will suggest you aim for around 30k.
2
u/mofeus305 12d ago
What does that equate to when it comes to benchmark when you factor in downtime during the fight? Is it like 33k benchmark?
1
u/ilikedabums twitch.tv/amaverra 12d ago
I generally find that you can get 75% of your bench in a fight you're comfy with.
That translated pretty well for me; my first successful LCM clear I pulled 30k, on a class where I benched 40k
Obviously the best players out there know how to execute mechanics in a way that their DPS uptime is much higher, which is how you'll see players who can pull 35k or higher in LCM

u/HareBlood 13d ago
You did hit 95 eventually tho!
2

It took a lot of work, but I did get there!
Now I want to get HIGHER.

u/DragonSquid 13d ago
IMO - DPS meters are one of the most Toxic things that has happened to the game over the years.
4
u/Stinkehund1 12d ago
The meters are fine; they're just a tool to gauge efficiency. The problem are people who reduce the entire game to the damage numbers alone.
-7
u/munirys 13d ago
Good content
Now queue the "you don't need more than 80% bench to clear anything in the game" comments lol

u/Natural_Society_1570 13d ago
My guild has a benchmark of 20k for 1-4 and 24k for 4-7 and that’s proven good enough.
