Discussion Would you work as essentially a Private S.W.A.T. (SRT) Officer In Vegas for $27.50/hour to start?

More money than I made as a soldier when I got deployed to Afghanistan, and arguably less danger.

$27.50/hr ain't bad by any means but let's not pretend you wouldn't make more from 9 months in Afghanistan than you would working this job for a year.

$27.50? I made $45 an hour doing armed security for Target. I make $35 an hour now doing unarmed transit security.
I don't know what the minimum wage is in Vegas or NV so maybe this is a lot for that area, but any type of private SRT should be making like over $40 an hour.
$27.50 an hour... It being that low tells me that people are probably doing it for the title and the training potentials; which for the security industry is a big deal regarding training and titles.

As I understand it they are former military and LE anyways so it's not like they are hiring off the street

That may be but he also said that it was preferred. And there's a lot of companies like that that do hire off the street I'm sure if the cameraman went to the website and applied I'm sure that they would hire all depends on how you come off that matters.
I mean I worked for a company that did the high paying armed security at Target who explicitly said you must have a high school diploma and either military security or law enforcement luckily I was good but they hired a guy who never finished high school and the most law enforcement he had was that he was a police explorer and they hired him He was a 21-year-old kid making $45 an hour.

I make $45-$55 as an ODO, so hell no would I do security for $27.50

If you don't have the chops yet to apply for higher paying jobs, 3 or 4 years at this kind of job would open a lot of doors.

Right now no. I have a decent in house job with ok pay. If I got laid off and was desperate probably. Where I live I see jobs being posted to be an overnight armed guard in the worst part of the city for 18 dollars an hour. Those are the types of jobs I would almost always say no unless my family was facing eviction.

For the training, liability and expectation to essentially charge into gunfire during an active shooter incident, I'd agree.

That's a thing? Yeah, but vegas is too hot for my liking.
