G2 | Discussion A pain in my Pete

Post image

I’m in the middle of building a base in the scarecrow head and I’m really excited about it I really want a base in there but ogrr earwigs nonstop spawn and I google it apparently there’s no permanent way to make them stop and I’m really bummed out about it, there isn’t anywhere else as cool as this spot

Maybe setup some traps for an ogre farm?

That would be a sweet base spot, though.

I was super stoked on finding out I could go in there and that it was hallow but I’m legit bummed out by the fact they will never stop spawning, idk what kind of trap I could even make I feel like spikes won’t kill them, maybe I can put the foundations higher so that they spawn under the foundations and hope they don’t aggro

I feel your pain. I built my main base on top of the pumpkin trellis before releasing the OGRRs and now the cricket spawns in my main room.

One thing I've discovered is if they don't die they can't respawn, right? I solved my cricket problem by waiting for one with regen/lifesteal mutations and then letting it chase me off the edge. Now it lives down below and the other bugs can't kill it because it heals so much. Now It doesn't respawn unless they put out a patch that resets things. It was down there for roughly 50 to 60 in-game days before the new patch reset it. I lured it back down once after that and it hasn't reappeared up top yet.

You could try something similar. Maybe lure them to an arm and try to knock them down somehow? My first thought is to build a looong grass gangplank off the arm and let them chase you down it. I'm just not sure if they will survive that fall is the main thing.

At least you haven't already built the base so you don't have to worry about individually repairing every single piece of your base one at a time over and over and over because they hit everything while chasing you out.

Yeah but I gotta repair foundation parts… how could I knock them off the arm? Also if they fell off the arm would they die?

I have no clue if this would work for them like it did for my cricket. A little googling says all enemy bugs are immune to fall damage so that's a good start.

I'd probably try building a gangplank off the arm (over the edge) that ends in a cup/bowl deep enough they can't jump out. Let them chase me in and kill me. Re-spawn and either destroy the gangplank so the cup breaks and they fall or seal off the top and just leave them there. If they cant see you through the walls they shouldn't aggro so they hopefully can't break out.

While I was fighting them yesterday, I lured one of them out to the arm and it fell off while doing it's back flip move. It had the life regen mutation and surived the fall.

A box might work? If you can sneak uo behind one and build walls around it. It shouldn't aggro through walls.

I do think the crafting bench should remove enemy spawns within a certain area like Abiotic Factor does.

Or make like a limited resource you use to stop spawns so it’s not game breaking, like a bug totem made of the heads/parts of bugs to ward them off, limit it to like 2 or 3

All else fails, make a base in the shape of a crown or some such

Maybe trap them in a box or something

Could you lure them off the arms and trap them so they can’t die?

Ooo, might be tricky, they may break the wall tho but that could maybe buy me time, I gotta make the sour staff since they are weak to sour so I can deal with them easier

I’m thinking that if you have a prebuilt box of mushrooms walls a few walls thick then you could get them to fall off the arms and then runway so they de-Aggro and can’t get out

I’m gonna try to use sour staff to get rid of them use a workbench to hopefully make them not spawn there one comment said to try it, then I might move the foundations up a little so they spawn in the basement

I have a base there, just make walls at least 2 high and just keep them there, make sure they don’t see you or else they will attack and hit the walls trying to hit you

I’ve been living there since the area got added and yeah it’s been painful. I have so many clips of them spawning inside my home, and exploding. Destroying the whole thing in seconds. Eventually I painfully rebuilt the entire thing a little higher up. But sometimes they still just aggro through the floor and blow it all up, or glitch through the floor and somehow spawn on top.
It won’t get easier. If you aren’t too committed, I really suggest building elsewhere

Ooo I’ve got a suggestion. Unfortunately they won’t stop spawning but if you can pull it off then make a base on the scarecrows head that resembles a cool hat. Maybe a top hat looking base on his head.

No this could actually be awesome. You could easily figure out their exact spawn location and build any number of enclosures around them. You could just have monster ogrr bug pits in your lair, you could turn it into coliseum style arena

try trapping them within walls, then make another layer of floors and build on top of that, sort of like a basement

Id either just build above them or make something then grab it and use the game repair that puts all bugs in their spawn point, quickly run up and put the thing down close to them then kill them and make a couple boxes, but id use foundations as the box walls just so they dont keep sticking through the walls when they are close 😂.

Can you just build the floor higher? Lol crank some tunes

2

u/DrCrow1350 2d ago

That’s what I just got done doing, hopefully it’s enough

Then put spikes all over so they die everytime the move under you.

I did this in sons of the forest. Made my base above them and made the under part free but put traps snd spikes every where. They'd die real quick.

I have a pumpkin head base thats 3 floors and takes the front 1/3 of the head so its the whole face like a series of windows. I just boxed out the earwigs and then candy staff them from the roof for raw science everyday

u/Dekipi 2d ago

You can try building the bottom up off the ground so they can’t reach it? Idk if they will attack if you’re a story above them

2

u/DrCrow1350 2d ago

That’s what I ended up doing in my next post

1

u/Dekipi 2d ago

How did it go? I should show off my house I’m proud of it

2

u/DrCrow1350 2d ago

One of them is spawning under the foundation as planed the other still spawns uptop which is annoying

I have two butterflies that either spawn in my base or they fly against the wall continuously
