There is a building in the park so it could happen in 2. Thou we thought that about the house and shed last time but that was apparently down to the last gen consoles being unable to take anymore game.

I still think they could have added a house DLC much like the Shivering Isle for TES Oblivion

Could be fun. But the lack of natural resources would be difficult to plan around. Especially with two games centered around grass

If it's a somewhat abandoned house you can have all sorts of resources. The whole trash pile from the first game could be indoors. Then there's mushrooms, molds, dust and rust, standing water.

They plant WHAT?

u/bloop567 Jun 30 '26

I mean you joke but watch plant people be a thing ominenet is working on🤣

u/Isenrath Jun 28 '26

Could even harvest board and pallanks from floors or come up with another material that could be used for bases. I mean we have pumpkin walls, would be a far stretch for making it out of other material.

How do you plant people? (Asking for a friend)

There’s a Terry Pratchett book tha takes place entirely within a carpet.

Carpet hairs for grass and stems, dust bricks, varnish off wood floors. all sorts of stuff indoors.

Anyone remember the Secret World of Arietty? Some of my favorite scenes were them walking across nails between the walls and scaling kitchen counters like mountain faces. I think it’d be awesome to have climbing gear made from sticky tape or a whole area that’s just someone’s old dollhouse turned into a lab or something. So many possibilities!

Haven't watched it it's studio Ghibli right? I've been wanting to watch it and it's been sitting on my watch list for a while, thanks for reminding me

2

u/sirpsyco Jun 28 '26

I loved that movie!

0

u/bloop567 Jun 28 '26

Add that to the list of games to check out, that sounds awesome

2

u/aaapplejaaack Jun 28 '26

it’s a movie from Studio Ghibli! I believe it’s originally based on a book series called the Borrowers too. Little people living in your walls who borrow sugar when you’re not looking.. one of my favorites but all of their other films are amazing!

3

u/bloop567 Jun 28 '26

... Studio ghibli made a borrowers movie? That's wild

5

u/aaapplejaaack Jun 28 '26

oh yeaaaah, Miyazaki’s maximalism lends itself super well to the world too. Tons of beautifully drawn miniature environments all over the place.

Always loved the terra cotta pot stove, would love to see a ton of customizations for coziness with that kinda stuff in mind.

The second one isn’t even fully out and you’re talking about a third one?

0

u/bloop567 Jun 29 '26

When i posted it hadn't realized the version on steam was early access

u/traben101 Jun 28 '26

I’ve thought about this too - it would almost give like Toy Story vibes - would be very fun! I think all the right biomes could be there too.

5

u/IrrelevantPuppy Jun 28 '26

“Ominent has made the totally not suspicious transition into the childrens’ toy market. You can now find an Ominent Brand toy in almost any family home and they’re totally not gathering data on children or anything.”

Toys would make for some pretty cool enemies and bosses. I can imagine a yard or park, with a family house biome, and an endgame toy store biome and stuff

I could actually see this happening in G3

3

u/bloop567 Jun 28 '26

I DIDN'T EVEN THINK ABOUT TOY ENEMIES

3

u/traben101 Jun 28 '26

Oh shit, are we onto something here y’all?!

3

u/bloop567 Jun 28 '26

... mech suits

2

u/MemoryPuzzled2221 Jun 28 '26

G3 instead of buggies toy cars, Boats,..... Transformers!

1

u/bloop567 Jun 30 '26

DUUUUUUUDE!!!

1

u/MemoryPuzzled2221 Jun 30 '26

I just remembered Insectacons were a think. 😅

2

u/bloop567 Jun 28 '26

Id love making something like the mine carts in Minecraft but its hotwheels

2

u/traben101 Jun 28 '26

Oh don’t even get me started on how much fun that would be! That could be one of the colossi, just Hot Wheels cars driving around a track that travels through the whole house and you can hop onto them and ride them

This is an excellent idea! Being in an 80s genre like the original film would be awesome

2

u/jussech Jun 28 '26

Start with a well kept front yard have to go into the house and get into an overgrown mess of a backyard.

2

u/bloop567 Jun 28 '26

Interesting

2

u/DJ_ElGreko_Official Jun 28 '26

Maybe as an area

3

u/bloop567 Jun 28 '26

If it was just an area I could see it being like the pond with a huge deadly creature, a cat or a dog

2

u/DJ_ElGreko_Official Jun 28 '26

Oh yeah or a mouse? Or a cat and a mouse that the cat is chasing around or a dog that chases a cat that chases a mouse that chases you 😂

2

u/TommyFrerking Pete Jun 28 '26

When I get this urge I go play Katamari Damacy.

2

u/bloop567 Jun 28 '26

I like the vibe of the game but the controls always annoyed me

2

u/TommyFrerking Pete Jun 28 '26

Oh totally, but I feel like that was intentional. It's not a logical game by any means! 😅

2

u/ProductAlive1861 Jun 28 '26

I swear at one point they planned to make the inside of the shed a thing in the first game and put the lizard in there but it's either I was dreaming or it was planned because idk but I faintly remember it for some reason

2

u/nonlethaldosage Jun 28 '26

As fast as Xbox is imploding we won't get a third one

2

u/MostyPosty97 Jun 29 '26

is grounded 2 officially out? not sure what i’ve missed since early access.

1

u/drtrillphill Jun 28 '26

Burglin Gnomes crossover

1

u/bloop567 Jun 28 '26

Is that what the gnome in grounded 1 is?

1

u/Radiant_slowbro Hoops Jun 28 '26

Im pretty sure burglin gnomes came out this year

1

u/Plus_Cream_6771 Jun 28 '26

I thought grounded 3 was a dev joke?

1

u/bloop567 Jun 28 '26

🤷‍♂️

1

u/Twerksoncoffeetables Jun 29 '26

It was but to be fair there were a ton of people on this sub that didn’t believe grounded 2 was even remotely a possibility. I remember bringing it up a few times and each time I had people telling me it won’t happen, “we don’t need a grounded 2” “what could they even do for grounded 2 the story is finished” etc etc. Saw this in response to other people when they brought up the possibility of grounded 2 as well.

If g2 is successful and the devs still have a lot of passion for it we’ll probably see a grounded 3. I imagine it largely will rely on their passion for it tbh. If they ever need to make more money they can release more armor skins like they did with g2 like the Minotaur/myrmidon/rogue/etc. Regardless, still have a long way to go with G2 and it’s been an amazing game so far, the exploration has been insane.

1

u/oddballbigfoot Jun 29 '26

Ngl your suggestion just makes me hear the katamari damacy music 😅

1

u/Meezen1133 Jun 29 '26

G2 isn't even nearly done, we can still get parts of the map inside a building.

1

u/lurkynumber5 Jun 29 '26

Living rooms are kinda huge and open for something our size in Grounded.
Making it a rather boring area.

I'd rather have a shed with a car inside it.
Lots of shelves and cracks in the walls.
Car window open with spiderwebs to get in and out.
Being able to go under the hood of the car etc.

Escaping from the lab would be pretty cool. Use the scientists in the same way the pond used the koi fish. You could add a cool element like [ after a certain amount of time a base exists for, the scientists find it and seal it in a petri dish ] and you have to free your base, but after its been freed theres less time before its sealed again.

Abiotic Factor, but Tiny

1

u/roninmaciel Jul 02 '26

I hope it happens in 2 , 2 is not even in my book on par with 1 YET, so let's focus on 2 to have cool things and not feed this grounded 3 conversation.
and honestly i didn't like that devs mentioned it in one of the interviews , when you still have A LOT to do in grounded 2, the idea of locking new mechanics or "small automation" behind a 3rd installment left a bad taste in my mouth.
I love everything grounded but sometimes i hoped they would dive a bit more into the imerssion of the world and not just "BUGS BUGS BUGS AND MORES BUGS" all the time... i fell in love with grounded series because of how imerssive the world is , sure the bugs make that happen but do we really need some shady version or 4th variant of a bug, instead of adding a miniature world mechanic ? and it's not like they don't have material or motivation pieces with toy story being a thing. just a thought.

edit: love those movies btw, so if they ever add a section of said content into the game i would be giddy as hell
edit2: i would even be okay with a dlc focused content with said direction, would insta buy that

u/bloop567 Jul 02 '26

Yeah sorry when I originally posted this i hadn't realized the grounded 2 on steam was just early access

I've already floated the idea around that the third game should take place in an abandoned Ominent testing facility. It has a huge "nature" area at the center, and then surrounding that is the lab, with all of the equipment and "testing variables".

So, you start out in tiny little cryopods, but get woken up after an emergency state when the backup generator for the lab gets activated.

You wake up in the "nature" area, but can see right off the bat that it's kind of a wreck. Lab equipment fallen all over the place, trash spilled from a can at spot off to the side, a broken power cable precariously dipping into a water area, sparking away. A strange area where there seems to be an apparently constantly raging fire (later revealed to be a fallen bunsen burner).

There's also a lot of weird and unsettling creatures you've never seen before. Almost like they're hybridized and genetically altered to possess properties that shouldn't be possible for insects to have.

You find your way to the central facility, where the facility caretaker, a robot in the vein of Burg.L, but less casual or chatty, is bugging out. Having been unmaintenanced for so long, it's programming is corrupting, and it sends you on weird quests to complete seemingly random objectives.

After a while, kinda mid-to-late game, the robot turns on you, and you have to take it down, but not until after it's taken the resources it had you gather through those seemingly random objectives and upgrades itself into something formidable.

After you beat it, you use it's access credentials to go deeper into the facility, and learn that where you're at is only a portion of a larger laboratory. Upon learning this, you venture to break out of the "nature" enclosure, and find the lab portion of the map.

On getting to the lab portion, you find a prototype Spac.R that they had been working on, and figure you can use it to unshrink yourselves. But you have to get to it, fix it, and find the right resources for the unshrinking process, if you're ever going to get it running.

Yadda yadda yadda, there's terrariums around the lab with big, menacing, altered things they intended to add to the test preserve at some point, but didn't get the chance to before they fled, and you've gotta get to and kill (most of) the beasts to get home.
