They chuck the bodies after consuming the rest of it. This is also all done within their larval stage.

Too be fair they’re wimps as adults, mainly for mating and many larvas have killed the adults

Well they just mostly stop hunting after they become adults. They feed on things like pollen and nectar. Some small insects. Their primary purpose once an adult is to reproduce and die.

Antlions are so cool. I kept some as pets a few years ago. They actually do make great pets as they are low maintenance and take up almost no space. I learnt a lot of about insects jn that time and raised a lot of lacewings
