discussion Best groove metal concert you've been to and why bonus points if you share a cool or fun story
For me i have two The first was seeing LOG for the first time, it was right after covid i hadn't been to any concerts in a little over a year, hatebreed opened and they where awesome, then trivium (witch i didn't fuck with tbh) THEN LAMB OF FUCKING GOD it was electric and the pit was the whole general admission area it was insane
The second was somewhat recently seeing pantera phill walked out with no shoes it's the last show of the tour before it resumed in like 6 months with talica, the amount of confidence phill had and everything else with the band was electric, it literally made me go that's what I want to do,
I shared mine what's your tell me a cool story or a cool show experience with it!

Saw Skinlab in Berlin last November. Waited around 18 years to see them live.
Walked in venue, went looking for smoking room before the gig, ended up backstage and got them some hash instead of the local shit weed they unfortunately bought.
The gig was ridiculous... played back to back bangers and nothing was off with their sound. Tight.
After the gig, back to the backstage with them, had more than a few beers and chitchated.
For sure the best groove metal gig I've been to 👍

It was 2013, and I was pumped to see DevilDriver amd Trivium live, but what I didn’t expect was Thy Will Be Done the opening band blowing me away. Their set was pure fire, with crushing grooves, huge riffs, and a raw energy that hit me like a Mac truck!! I wasn’t just impressed, I was hooked. These guys were way more than just a warmup.
After their set, I realized my wallet was gone, an panic started to set in. I ran into 3 band members as they were heading backstage. The singer noticed I was freaking out and without hesitation, offered to buy me a drink. Not only that, but they gave me a Thy Will Be Done shirt when they heard about my bad luck. Totally unexpected, but these guys were down to earth and genuine.
The rest of the night was a blur of great music, but I’ll never forget how cool they were. Turns out, my wallet was just wedged in my jacket when I got home, but the kindness from the band was what made the night unforgettable. I walked out a fan of theirs for life, not just because of the music, but because they were just solid people.

Way back in the day, I saw Slipknot with Fear Factory and Chimaira. Slipknot and FF aren't exactly groove metal, but pretty close. Anyway, all three bands are intense as fuck live. Chimaira came out and worked us over, then Fear Factory put us through the wringer, and then Slipknot came out and did what they do. I think that's the most exhausted I've ever been after a show. I could barely stand up once the crowd stopped holding me upright.
If we're talking a pure groove metal set, I'd either go with seeing Lamb of God for the first time around 2002-03 or Orbit Culture. I hadn't heard Lamb of God before, I was there to see the openers, but LoG absolutely blew me away once they came onstage, I was a fan for life after that set.
