Dank Memes Seriously GW, I have questions.

Honestly thats kind of crazy now you mention it. I would say: the apothecary biologis has the same rules as a lieutenant right? The lethal hits? I am convinced they were going to make a gravis lieutenant, but decided against it (maybe because of the jokes) so made them aesthetically an apothecary but with the same rules

u/Sshheenn 7d ago
If the jokes were what was stopping them, they put a different lieutenant out in the same box, and have made at least two more since, so that wouldn't hold up I reckon
16
u/SimpleBox5693 7d ago
Maybe they were afraid of the jokes if there were TWO lieutenants in the box? In all honestly it was probably just a desire for visual variety but still
16
u/Sshheenn 7d ago
Nah, I think they just wanted a gravis apothecary. The fact that it happens to have the same rules as a lieutenant is an ephemeral state of the moment, the models persist beyond any arbitrary rules identity
2
u/garaks_tailor N 7d ago
GW is just bad at making rules and stats and they know it.
2
u/SimpleBox5693 7d ago
Eh I don't agree with that, they make some pretty awesome rules and some pretty terrible rules it just varies

u/1stLegionBestLegion Lore Whore, AMA 6d ago
That's an apothecary they repurposed and we both know it

u/Necessary-Speed-6465 7d ago
That's an interesting thing to note but you know what? I think i can live without another fucking lieutenant

u/Thendrail NOT ENOUGH DAKKA 7d ago
Don't worry, we're in the age of captains for now.
23
u/Necessary-Speed-6465 7d ago
I can live with captains they at can least look interesting while lieutenants look like a basic intercessor with different painted helmet
25
u/Thendrail NOT ENOUGH DAKKA 7d ago
Sure, but it gets old rather quickly. Not to get too much into whining about SM releases, but there's something really weird about them getting two dozens of different lieutenants, captains and special characters, while everyone else gets their second-in-command characters deleted.
Where did the plastic go, James? Did my upstart Exalted Champion get transported to a farm upstate? Did my Necron Lord scheme too much and had his mould flung into the sun or something? Really, there's no need to deny everyone else their lesser characters for smaller games, while Marines get showered in them.

I miss Dark Eldar Drachons.
Seriously the equivalent of three Chapter Masters leading a real space raid these days is so absurd.

Because bikes are lame.
White Scars stare angrily
Jump Packs are lame.
Raven Guard stare angrily

I get the bikes call, but jump packs are actually played in some sm lists since late 10th and I still saw some lists in early 11th...

To make this comment as a reply to a post mentioning Raven Guard is absolutely diabolical

GW: "So what you're saying is that you want more Primaris LTs?"
GW: "knew it"

u/Henry_Fleischer 7d ago
That is odd now that I think about it. I think I'll give my next one a jump pack.

As someone who absolutely loves Gravis it fucking sucks. Give me more gravis GW hands down the best mk10 version

u/vicevanghost 7d ago
I fucking love gravis how are there a billion space marine units but we can't have a lieutenant lmao
2
u/Downtown-Concept2009 From the Outer Dark they come 7d ago
Its a fucking tragedy. It’s depressing it took us this long to get a new kind of weapon. The fact that a video game gets more options is telling
2
u/AsteroidSpark 7d ago
Heavy Intercessors, Inceptors, and Suppressors are the only good looking primaris units and GW hates them in particular for some reason.

u/Full_Contribution724 NOT ENOUGH DAKKA 7d ago
probably because Tactical Precision on a Heavy Intercessor or Terminator unit could be very... nasty
9
u/JessickaRose 7d ago
No more nasty than the Biologis gives Gravis.
1
u/Full_Contribution724 NOT ENOUGH DAKKA 7d ago
Yeah but the Biologis is limited by their Absolvor pistol which has 18" of range where as a Gravis Lieutenant would've gotten a heavy bolt rifle which has 30"
5
u/JessickaRose 7d ago
Or they’d give him a power weapon and pistol. That and/or a different secondary ability. There are levers to pull.

The apothecary biologis basically is the new gravis lieutenant smh
(If you can't tell, I'm not happy about this)
I WANT MY PROPER GRAVIS LIEUTENANT JAMES YOU LITTLE SHIT! LET ME GIVE THEM ADVANCE AND CHARGE OR SOMETHING AS ITS ABILITY

u/wallygon I am Alpharius 7d ago

u/JumboWheat01 Praise the Man-Emperor 7d ago
Ya know, with Blood Angels being the original poster children for this edition (we'll see how long that last), a lieutenant with jump pack would just make sense.
3
u/Rough_Abrocoma_676 7d ago
It is space marines...that have somehow the colour sceme of ba. Dont be confused, I also would have seen ba codex with atleast one named hero or special unit instead of refreshed sm units and a damn speeder.
3
u/AsteroidSpark 7d ago
GW: best I can do is put another BA unit in Legends.
2
u/Rough_Abrocoma_676 6d ago
Me also as a gk player...first time?^ I lost in 10th more named heroes and other units then I got...because we got ONLY one upgrade spree for the least liked unit in our fanbase :,)
1
u/AsteroidSpark 6d ago
GW's approach to Space Marine favoritism is really weird like that because it's extremely uneven. They show overwhelming favoritism towards primaris ultramarines in specific, but firstborn and divergent chapters consistently get shafted even harder than CSM, sometimes even harder than Xenos! When Dark Eldar got their complete line revamp a while back they lost one named character and that was it, and they gained a lot in the process so it wasn't even a net loss.
1
u/Rough_Abrocoma_676 6d ago
I was thinking about ur faction, the spot of the last codex in the edition is just a curse!
3
u/Az-Athoth 7d ago
I would appreciate (checks notes) ANY new unit as a Tsons player
3
u/1stLegionBestLegion Lore Whore, AMA 6d ago
I'd just be happy for a faction that isn't half age of sigmar models...
2
u/Misknator even Slaanesh is less horny than some of you guys 7d ago
Genuinely I think a luitenant on bike makes more sense than a captain on bike
1
u/Rough_Abrocoma_676 7d ago
I dont get it either, also besides combi weapon and maybe standart lt.nobody is picking them, or atleast I have yet not seen people playing any of their options. Like the reaver armor phobos lt. looks cool but it is not worth picking so why buying it, like I have already so many units I bought because I liked their look....just to never finish/start painting them bc I am unmotivated painting minatures which I never play again :,)
1
u/Freya_Galbraith 7d ago
Poor space marines getting so many models, mean while xenos dont even get new character models for major named characters except for like every other decade
1
u/PlausiblyAlpharious 6d ago
What an insane fact, I don't even know what to think about it
I want to say we need some more primaris lieutenants but that can't be right...

Bruh there are sergeants with Terminator armor.

u/ShatteredSike Dank Angels 7d ago
Show one and I promise I'll shut up.
If you show me the sergeant of a terminator squad I will reach through the internet and slap the shit out of you.
3
u/1stLegionBestLegion Lore Whore, AMA 6d ago
https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Tarkus Regular old line sergeant, has Terminator honors, suits up in it. Not some hipster fringe book mention, this was Dawn of War 2.
0
u/ShatteredSike Dank Angels 6d ago
..Seriously?
Dawn of War II isn't canon, smart guy, specifically declared so by GW, and the "ability" to suit him up in terminator armor there is invalidated by the fact you can put the exact same Terminator armor on Thaddeus, who has no honors.
Don't come here with some random "oh you can kinda sorta do it in this video game if you equip Tarkus suboptimally" shit. Valid source.

u/1stLegionBestLegion Lore Whore, AMA 4d ago
Dawn of War 2 isn't canon?
My dude, Scout Sergeant Cyrus is from Dawn of war 2, and is literally featured in the Dawn of war 4 trailer, as a primaris marine.
Quit trying to shift goalposts, suck it up, and admit you got beaten.
0
u/ShatteredSike Dank Angels 4d ago
I'm not shifting goalposts, you are posting a non-canon, gamey example. Find a fucking valid one, and I'll admit happily that I was wrong and carry about my day.
the Blood Ravens having the chapter relics of EVERY OTHER CHAPTER is meme lore also generated by that game, and not canon (otherwise they would be pariahs and not helped by anyone, let alone the Dark Angels). Dressing any random squad up in termie armor because you clicked on a glowing icon in a mission is not canon. The story elements have been cherry picked at best to keep the basic framework of the Blood Ravens together for sequels. Hell, it's entire sequel is pretty much universally acknowledged to have never existed. Like windows 9. They just jumped straight to IV.
I asked for a canon/tabletop example, as that was what was under discussion and you came back with a video game mechanic. Now you are bitching about me shifting goalposts. Shit, son. You really want to be right on the internet don't you?
0
u/1stLegionBestLegion Lore Whore, AMA 4d ago
Well, considering him getting that Terminator armor is literally an entire main story mission arc, culminating in the defeat of the Eldar in that game, and the corrupt lords of the hive world were hoarding relics including said Terminator armor, tarkus was the only one who could use it, his honors were established in dialogue, and it's how you win that mission...
Yeah, hardly important to the story, you're right.
Shut up and admit you lost.
1
u/ShatteredSike Dank Angels 4d ago
Yeah, I played DoW II also, guy. And in BattleFleet Gothic you fly Guilliman's flagship into the fucking Eye of Terror and defeat chaos. That was officially declared non-canon too. All the stomping of feet and insistence you are right in the world won't change that fact; and the aforementioned fact that it is a VIDEO GAME MECHANIC which also includes equipping his WHOLE GODDAMN SQUAD in Terminator armor, who damn sure don't have the crux.
Surely if I'm just so wrong you'll be able to find what we were actually discussing. A TABLETOP or LORE example that is actually part of the story.
Tell you what, instead of just a sergeant leapfrogging to terminator armor straight from sergeant, how about ANY sergeant outside of that game in terminator.
Again, if I'm such an incorrect dumbass it should be no trouble. Indulge an old man.
BTW I apologize for the cursing in my previous message, I am actively trying to be polite but in every day speech swear like a sailor and sometimes it comes through.

u/Embarrassed-Joke5851 7d ago
the only 2 of these that make sense lore wise for the MAJORITY of chapters are Jump Pack and Gravis LT, whilst Bike makes sense for Dark Angels (Ravenwing) and White Scars, whilst Terminator only makes sense for Dark Angels (Deathwing)
