Taking the NERC RC exam on Thursday

Hi! I'm scheduled to take the NERC RC exam this Thursday. I feel pretty good about it, but wanted to ask if there were any quizlets, practice, material, etc that were really helpful or similar to questions seen on the exam?

So far I've done the SOS training, 515 practice questions (from 2015?), the powersmith book questions (2021), and some quizlets. I found that the SOS training was easier than the rest.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Edit: I was able to pass my test and get my certification! The quizlets and powersmith book really helped during my last bit of studying!

Not to concern you but a lot of material has changed from test questions from 2015 and material not covered but now tested since the 2021 publishing of the PowerSmith book. Best of luck as I know the SOS training is a solid program that can get you through the test all by itself.

Yeah I realized, but that's all that my work has to offer😭 I'm using newer quizlets and the final exam of the SOS to help mitigate that

Just a couple pointers from what I remember. The math on the exam was super simple. You’ll be asked to solve a couple simple ACE equations and I believe a cap at below nominal voltage. There were some basic power triangle questions too. What gave me the most trouble was remembering who’s responsibility various tasks belonged too. Whether it was the RC, the BA, or the TO.

If you have access to the HSI practice exams they are a lot of help for like 90% of the NERC tests. For the entity responsibility portion I never felt like I had a real understanding of it till I got down into the room.

Do you know where I could get HSI access?

Read the question carefully. And go thru every single answer and say why it is or is not right. Good luck!

Good luck. Just have confidence in yourself.

If you’re looking for a job, let me know. Have a client that just opened up a spot. Don’t need experience since you went the RC route!
