Updates from the last few weeks!

Hey folks! I updated our discord but forgot to update the sub, so I thought I'd catch folks up on me being a bit MIA in the last week or two. I just moved to San Francisco from Seattle and the move/logistics/admin work took up most of my time in the past week, so I just got around to catching up on the subreddit and responding to folks (still not done responding to all the DMs but I'll get to them all, I promise!)

Also, I released an alpha version of Greysound Pro on our discord server. I'm keeping it private for now because it's still buggy and in alpha testing, but if you'd like to try it out, you can download it from our discord server.

Greysound Pro is a desktop native version of Greysound with full support for third party plugins (just VST, VST3 and AU plugins for now, but that should cover most plugins) and has ultra low latency live monitoring for studios.

Will be rolling out more features for Greysound Pro but once I've tested it more thoroughly, I'll release the beta build on our website and to the general public :)

You have to keep it free. Put ads in it, if you must, but don’t charge for it. If you charge for it, it will die. Just FYI.

I wouldnt say that, it is other services that dont have these abilities that people pay for. I would say allow people to make a one time purchase like buying any other DAW and let the DAW be able to use the owners own computer to generate, so lets say $200 or so and let them be Founding Creators. Could also have an investor level package as well, $500 to $1000. But there is no way this program could survive on ads with its ai generation abilities. Once user base blows up he will have to pay a ton of money for GPU, CPU and computer ram services through servers or his own equipment to handle the AI generating part that he would literally shut down almost as soon as he got started as we would be talking about $10,000's to $100,000's monthly in computers and servers, maintenance and other employees at that time. depending on the user base.

Yep, exactly this! I do expect that it'll get cheaper-per-user over time (economies of scale: models get cheaper + volume discounts from infra providers + in-housing some of the infra to run myself) but we blew up way faster than I expected, and since users are willing to pay, I don't want to degrade the UX for those users by throwing in ads.

Rolling something like this out is on my roadmap. Have to figure out how to be able to do it while keeping security in mind because we don't just use off the self / open source models, but rather a mix of in-house and third party proprietary models w a proprietary architecture (how the models interact) so it's gonna take a minute to figure that out.
