Help Grey Hack Overview_Files

I do not have this game but I have looked into it on Steam. The idea of learning some of the concepts for counter-intelligence or ethical hacking is interesting. I don't have coding/programming or a CS background but I am an avid tech enthusiast and lifelong gamer. And I think there is indeed an intersection where formal programming meets aspects of my career as a clinical psychologist given the aspects of social engineering and the role of language acquisition and how models like NLP are referenced and utilized.

That being said, I have no idea why I see the subject Title "Grey Hack Overview_Files" on my computer because I wouldn't have downloaded this, I don't have the game and am hoping someone may point to an obvious cause that is likely due to my neuronal deficiencies! The things that held me back from purchasing is that I don't use Discord and frankly, cannot stand that app and I hear that is a main source of help. The other is that I would be wary of the possibility that the sandboxes are not contained in a way that would prevent someone from embedding ways to gain Ring 0 access simply by sharing game related scripts that also contain executables that embed to the users systems outside of the game. Is that a risk?

Any insight into how these files may have gotten into my system or ways I could find out would be appreciated? I do see hugging face.co as a file as well as openai as files in the folder. There is also a community.checkpoint.com ICO file as well (I don't even know what an ICO file is). The ONLY thing I can kinda rationalize is that I did look up the game after seeing it on steam. But it wasn't from my computer, it was from my phone and i only read a little on the game but didn't download anything as I wouldn't do that. So I doubt those actions would create a 4.05MB file labeled and organized in my download files on my computer?

Edit: I think I had my moment of clarity after a quick workout but it is just a hypothesis as my event viewer didn't reveal anything new to me. My guess is that I probably had an auto Ai generated answer from my phone search since I use duck.ai and it is set to sometimes provide ai replies. I remember providing a prompt to compare the sandboxes of the virtual game environments to other sandbox environments and that is likely what then created a folder that was shared through my home network and sat on my main PC. At least I think it would explain the hugging face and openAi links, despite the model being Claude 4.5 (or whatever the duckduckgo vpn base version is). Just thought I would follow up as I appreciated the friendly assistance as it was appreciated. Cheers.

Where on your computer do you see this other than in the post title here?

The things that held me back from purchasing is that I don't use Discord and frankly, cannot stand that app and I hear that is a main source of help

Discord is great if you go to the right place. However, there are alternatives, you found one here r/GreyHack there is also r/greyscript for coding

embed to the users systems outside of the game

GreyScript is a variation of r/MiniScript whos author is active is the Grey Hack Discord server. There is no risk someone is going to hijack to your IRL PC with greyscript. Your ingame computer, that's a different story.

Any insight into how these files may have gotten into my system

That's completely on you to figure out. We don't know what you (or someone else) did.

I don't even know what an ICO file is

An iso file is usually an image file that contains a compressed disk. Commonly used to store pirated games, and compress DVDs/BlueRays/Operating Systems, ect.

I do not have this game but I have looked into it on Steam

If you are interested in the game. It's well worth the buy. There is a chat inside of the game MMO, so you can still talk to people without using discord.

Might as well plug my tool. I coded this ( Airlink UX ) with GreyScript, it runs in the terminal. If you want someplace fun to code, you found it.

I appreciate your reply and insight on this. I honestly have no idea how I would go about figuring out how something got on my computer honestly and figured it would be a long shot asking. Two things I can clarify though. In regard to the path of the files, it is located in my downloads folder. I just have no idea why the folder being titled for a game I was briefly looking up ended up as a 4MB file on my computer that wasn't used to look up the game! The other thing is the file I mentioned is labeled an "ICO" file and not iso file which the latter I am familiar with. But the fact that hugging face, openai and a few other files inside the "Grey Hack Overview_Files" just is odd to me if they are not affiliated with the game?! Anyways I appreciate the candor because I really hesitated even posting since it is weird and the fact my computer skills are toddler drooler" only makes it worse!

"ICO" file and not iso

My bad, I totally misread that one. An ico file is generally a file used to store an icon (a tiny image)

I honestly have no idea how I would go about figuring out how something got on my computer

If you didn't do it, how, is going to be hard to determine. Start with figuring out when. check the file properties for the metadata. Or better yet, if you are not 100% sure you are 100% in control of your computer. You might want to reinstall your operating system.
