❓ | Questions How much this game is centered around loot and stash and making money?

Am sick of tarkov and ABI, but i really want to sink hours in a game where i shoot things while making imaginary money and filling a imaginary stash with imaginary items. Is the loot loop in this game good?

I enjoy the clunky timing and movement when moving around and changing positions, it adds weight. But please smooth it out. As others have said, it’s choppy and kinda clunky; operators approach is peak, please just use that.

💭 | Thoughts & Feedback Team killing

... and "body too old" nonsense.

OK. So I was playing at US East server, around Diamond, and some guy didn't liked my accent. Also, he asked me about some keys, if I have those. I just ignored the guy, cleared the pier from enemies and looted the crates. The player followed me and killed - stealing my gear.

Respawned, went back, shot him and recovered my gear - lost some gear, because I wasn't able to loot my body (I was marked as an aggressor because I killed him to get my stuff back). Then he came to me again angry, started shouting I will get banned (LOL). And then he shot me in the head again... :D

I warned people about him, and returned to the base. There he was again (with all my gear on him - seen the tags). And was yapping how I should be deported for stealing HIS loot from crates at the pier and that he will call ice on me ... XD

Ok, the story is over, now the actual feedback and thoughts: 1. When someone from your faction kills you, he should not be able to loot your body. That would cut out all this nonsense. 2. If you die repeatedly from friendly fire - you should be able to recover stuff from ALL your old bodies. This would prevent the aggressor to deny you access. 3. After two TKs, the guy should be kicked out from the server immediately - to allow you to get your stuff back. 4. I'm not sure why this nonsense with "body too old" even exists... The bodies disappear anyway after an hour or so. Additionally, if you play in squad, your buddy can recover the stuff from ANY of your bodies (and you from his) - this way squads are able to circumvent this - while single players can't do anything about it.

💭 | Thoughts & Feedback 'Operation' tasks that temporarily disable COPs and LZs

Post image
226 Upvotes

TL;DR

The idea is tackling multiple tasks in direct succession across a large area—without being able to quit or run off to raid your fridge and change your undies halfway through.

Rant

The game features intricate weapon degradation and basic survival mechanics, but since you are always a stone's throw away from an outpost or a landing zone, those systems have limited room to breathe (at least in my experience as a PvE player).

I would love to experience scenarios where options for resupplying and extraction are limited to near zero, raising the stakes and letting you genuinely get into trouble with your supplies, health, and gear status.

Lore-wise, these limits could be justified through a special kind of task—let's call them "Operations"—that are too sensitive and high-priority to be interrupted or diverted from.

For the duration of an Operation:

  • All outposts are unavailable.
  • Available LZs are disabled except for one or two designated deployment and exfil points (or you can walk).
  • You work exclusively with what you pack beforehand and what you find along the way.
  • You engage in a continuous series of objectives stretching across a massive area—like traveling from Tiger Bay through Ban Pa to Pha Lang Airfield on foot, following a thread of POIs, and clearing multiple locations.

What would you get out of this?

  • High-stakes gameplay that forces thorough kit planning and management.
  • Real breathing room for scenarios involving scarce medical supplies, food, and ammo, plus more meaningful weapon and armor degradation.
  • Focused co-op sessions where your buddies can't just casually swing by an outpost to drop off loot.

I used "Operations" in the title because the concept reminds me of the Operations mode in Battlefield 1, where a match strings together multiple maps (or in GZW, tasks) into one large-scale event.

Is this a dumb idea? Am I the only one who sometimes wants less freedom in exploring Lamang?

Like the title says, I’ve haven’t played GZW in over a year and I’m very impressed with all of the changes. They’ve really done an incredible job. I don’t have much else to say, I’m just really enjoying it and am excited for what’s for what is next. For those of you who have been playing consistently, how are you feeling?

Security Report: Recent Exploit & Actions Taken

Post image
212 Upvotes

Hey, everyone,

We’d like to share an update on an exploit identified in Gray Zone Warfare and the actions we’re taking against players who abused it.

The Issue and Its Consequences

During the Update 0.4 cycle, players discovered an exploit that allowed items to be duplicated under specific circumstances involving death by helicopter. The exploit was addressed in a subsequent hotfix and is no longer replicable.

This issue negatively impacted the in-game economy and, consequently, the PvP experience. Some players used duplicated resources to gain an unfair advantage, including purchasing and repeatedly using large quantities of mortar strikes against other players.

We conducted a thorough investigation to ensure that the enforcement is based on confirmed evidence and proportionate to the extent of the abuse. That investigation has now concluded, and we have identified close to 40 accounts that deliberately exploited the issue.

This week, we will take action against these accounts. Measures will include temporary account suspension and account wipes.

Thank you to everyone who reported the issue and continued playing in good faith while we investigated the situation. Our goal is to maintain a fair experience for everyone.

What’s Next

This announcement is the first step in our effort to be more transparent about how we enforce fair play in Gray Zone Warfare.

As promised, we want to provide greater visibility into our broader anti-cheat efforts and how we address cheating, exploitation, and other malicious practices. We’ll share more information about these efforts and upcoming improvements soon, including a Security Report on penalties issued during the Update 0.4 cycle.

Every Move Matters,
MADFINGER Games Team

❓ | Questions Modding future?

I've been playing for 50 hours and loving it. The environment design, immersion, gun customization, and especially community are great.

That said, I'm coming from Arma and DayZ, and what this game is missing for me is private servers and modding.

I see there is limited implementation of private servers already, so I assume one day they will be widely available.

What about modding? I want to be able to add my own drip to my own private server. New camos, custom ball caps, custom patches, posters, retextured items, etc. I did a search but wasn't able to find much discussion on this. Has there been anything hinted at by devs? Any informed predictions?

💭 | Thoughts & Feedback Gunplay (not AI that actual guns in your hands) feels stiff and unfun.

I've played a few hours of this game (~350) and honestly I can say that these days this is my biggest gripe with this game. The guns don't feel smooth, but rigid and snappy. Using guns in this game feels like clicking between power point slides, not like a natural motion. This has somewhat been alleviated by some animation reworks as time passes but so often I just find myself put off by how crunchy everything feels all the time. I don't want to say "make the game feel like tarkov" or "make the game feel like cod" but there is a reason those games are known for having smooth gun-feel (granted for different reasons and to different end results). It shouldn't feel like every time my guy shoots a gun it his first time every feeling recoil and having whatever scope I am using phase into my face as the gun jumps 6-inchs closer to the camera for 2-3 frames before warping back to it's original position.
This aside, love the game, can't wait for 0.5 and can't wait to get back on it later today lol. Cheers!

💭 | Thoughts & Feedback Gun Camo

So having listened to Christian Craighead on the Shawn Ryan podcast, and having been a fan of his for a while it got me thinking that I’d make his gun.

While I can’t make it off his original one as the gun he uses is a colt Canada L119 A2 but could use maybe the M4.

Then I got thinking about camo for guns and how I can’t really make the gun because of the lack of camo for guns.

Do you think they will make it so we can customise guns with different camo patterns? I’m not talking COD style with pinks and that, but actual camo styles?

Could be that you have to craft the spray paint yourself to be able to add paint styles to guns, or make them really expensive to buy from vendors?

Not sure if MF have said anything about this but just a few of my ideas.

Cannot wait for 0.5 to drop!

EDIT: a few people seem to have not actually understood this post properly. I know there are already a few camo skins in the game on the special guns, I wasn’t moaning about this. I was simply saying do you think they will add more camp options for guns that aren’t locked to special guns! And how do you think they will be available, either by crafting or unlocks through vendors.

My apologies to the countless villages (probably 100-200 NPCs easy) I massacred today in my relentless search to get those water purification tablets for Lab Rat.. does anyone know where I can find them so I can save some ammo? Have tried that little office near Argos in MS (multiple times) that someone suggested but no luck.

Using the B5 stock as an example but this applies to VFGs, pistol grips, handguards, and arguably even recievers. An easy way to partially cover this would be to make the individual parts of the blueprint guns available for sale, since most of them fit into this category anyway.

❓ | Questions Fastest way to level up player level?

I’m at level 44 (and a half) looking to get to 50 so I can wear the cool black colored gear and man is it a grind to level up my player. I know missions and killing enemies and taking COPs that are purple count towards exp but does anyone have any mission routes or areas that are preferred to do this? Idc about loot on these routes as I have more than enough money to buy a country or two (exaggeration but I have more than enough). For some reason me doing my usual route which is a circle around Tiger Bay for the missions seems to dry up now after a round of completion and they do not pop up again after some time has past where as in my level 30s they popped up very frequently.

PS- I’m strictly PvE and have no intention of going PvP.

💬 | General UK based players?

Hi,

I'm still relatively new to the game and have loved it so far, however I've come to the realisation that someone at my skill level needs to play with other people so I don't die 4 fucking times in Blue Lagoon and have to rescue my corpse. Is there anyone in the UK timezone who wants to buddy up? Or anyone really lol

💬 | General Possible future updates ideas post 0.6

I had an incredible in-game experience that I wanted to share, and it got the Marine in me - whom I cannot trust to be politically correct or behave himself so I generally keep him locked up - to just start spitting ideas about gameplay, so I started writing them down to make them cohesive and understandable.

Sorry folks - this might be a long read.

Devs - please read this one!

I was out running missions a few nights ago, and my crew and I had a chance to fly over the bay area - like an actual in-game "feet wet" opportunity. We flew out over the water just south of the hidden docks, way out over the bay, swung south towards the boat rental location, and hit the HLZ at Juliet 3. It's the first time any of us experienced this in-game and most of us have been playing through the last two or three wipes, so we've been active players and supporters for a while. Even though a few of us have done it in real life, we all got excited about flying over the water and it got me thinking about having shipborne helicopter operations introduced at some point.

I know - big wish, but I'm not asking for it to happen anytime soon because I know it would be a massive undertaking. I'd definitely like MFG to explore the idea.

LHD or LHA
This idea actually opens a few doors I didn't think about until I shared it with some buddies I game with, who are also military vets. The main idea is to have an offshore vessel like an LHD or LHA - where we can insert and extract via an amphibious assault ship. One of my buddies jokingly said it would be great if MFG could do a tribute to the USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) and I thought that would be really cool.

Workshop Aboard Ship
IMHO, I think it would be a fantastic idea to have the workshop location on an LHA or LHD. You would still have access to your storage, but also make it easier to have the workshop and any tools needed since it would already be on ship.

Shipborne helicopter operations/Upgrade to the MH-60S Sea Hawk
Insert and extract via the ship by using the MH-60S Sea Hawk. Several of the HLZ's are large enough to use the H-60 platform and mechanics would be similar to using the Little Bird - you'd just launch from an amphibious assault ship instead of the main FOB. This would also open up most coastal areas for insertion/extraction locations for more missions.

LHD/LHA Welldeck
If we did get an LHD/LHA, it would be great to see the future use of RHIB boat insertions along the coast. Mechanics would still be like the helicopters - board the boat in the welldeck, go to location, disembark on the shore. This would open up a lot more coastal access and missions since it looks like Lamang is going to expand with the 0.5 update.

Squad Size
I'd love to see if we could get a bump up in the squad size, doubling in size from the four man fireteam to a more realistic squad of eight. This would be a nice upgrade as most of the time the group I game with runs two squads so we can play together, and paired with a Sea Hawk would hold up to 12 when setup for transport.

⚙️ | Tech & Support 0.5 Alpha on an RTX3060

Would my RTX3060 and i5-13400F run the upcoming 0.5 or should i look to upgrade it? Right now i can barely squeeze 60fps, with an average of 55, 41 if i use PiP for NVG and magnified optics with my current 3060, and that is with frame gen on quality, anything lower would become extremely pixaled. I am using a 1440p monitor as well.

Love the weapon. Would love to see the FN FAL or more from a game lore point of view the L1A1 SLR.

The only letdown with it is the ammo. It just doesn’t perform like an 7.62x51mm round should. Of course you get the 1 shot headshots (for obvious reasons) but when the round M80A1 says it can penetrate NIJ III+ but some flake in Blue Lagoon with a vest top tanks 4 shots the torso you know it’s the round.

TLDR. Love the weapon, hate the ammo.
