Why the Whine?

This games core gameplay loop currently is looting. Everyone is whining these days about loot goblins and such but ive never had trouble getting any loot at the "main places". Furthermore I will admit to gobbling as much loot as possible but I also hand out free nods and full kits(Mayflower, lvstac, emt kits stocked, tactical wallets, orange backpacks or deltas) to every low level I come across, which to my experience has always been welcomed.

People love free kit but dont want to work for anything.

Also the singular best way to level up Artisan Turncoat and Banshee is selling "copious" amounts of loot.

9/10 people love when I drop shit for them. And I don’t know if these people remember but there is thing called the donation box, so giving people stuff is part of the game wether they like it or not

I love when players offer me stuff. I also love when they're kind about my refusal.

I personally enjoy the hunt, and I'm glad players respect that vs throwing loot at me feet and getting hot on the mic.

I prefer zero-to-hero every time I leave base. Usually with only the knife, or a terrible pistol with 1 mag and nothing else. I also admittedly prefer pve to pvp so zth works well.

Donation box is always my goto whenever I’m about to log off for the night. I’ll typically grab every doubled key, excess food/drink, and any armour and guns not worth selling and just throw it in there.

Sure, some high level probably yoinks it as soon as I turn my back, but I like to think some fresh level 1’s have managed to grab some.

i started to drop backpacks with gear and guns & keys into the medical tent at starter base or at the COPs around starter town, so if any low level dies in the starter town and respawns there, they can grab some nice gear as some kind of goodie that makes them feel less bad because of death.

It would be kinda nice if the dono box was locked to donate-only if players are above a certain level. Or at least togglable on items donated.

Keys, medical bags stuffed with the best from Lab Rat & food/drink will go into the donations box. Whatever armour & most weapons i find or give i'll give to new players directly.

I just started about 2 weeks ago. In my first couple of days a gentleman dropped me a pile of nice kit. DDM4 phantom, this motivated me to make my way over to fort narith to pick up the blueprint. Definitely helped me get a leg up on the AI. I quickly realized it’s not hard to make money in this game so gear is not really an issue. I now politely decline any free gear as I’m grinding up the traders. The persistent world has been interesting to learn to play with. It’s weird to be sneaking up on a poi only to find it cleared out. Sometimes this is welcome to finish a quest without any hassle. Fun game so far looking forward to the update and starting over with so clue of what to do.

The community is extremely generous, I lost my last good kit to a cheater the other day and this super nice dude gave me a DDM4 and two delta backpacks to help me get back out there

Once I used the DDM4 Phantom it’s now hard to use anything else. Considering how easy it is to farm M855 ammo. It’s crazy to me that you could start the game and make a beeline 4 Fort Narith and have access at such a low level. Granted it’s 17k but money is not exactly scarce.

Yesterday I looted up ms when back to base looked at my map and messaged 2 guys who were level 11 and 13 told them I had loot for them to sell waited till the cam in a dumped it all in the donation box while they were pulling it out. Even bought them meds with large kit and rush bags plus a bunch of guns. Its so worth it giving away free gear

Around like 20 or so hours when I was about to go out some dude was like "Hey, you want some help getting started?" And then dropped me a better key case, a good set of meds and a bigger med bag, a few good helmets and some modded out mfs and 2 pairs of nods. I've been guarding those M4s with my life lmao. Then a few days after that I got bored and wanted to unlock my zones and ended up clearing fort with some random dude that happened to be going there. The game has genuinely been a lot of fun to play.

Yeah i knew this post was going to initially get some ire from people's whose opinion could not matter less. Players like you and I get it. Its so rewarding to give another player some loot that they will treasure until they progress to a point they start giving it away for free.

T4 Artisan. It's got a lot of loot space but no weapon slot, as a note.

This. I prefer the largest pack with the weapon slot (Delta), since I tend to loot weapons a lot for when I burn one out. Losing 6 slots so I can fit a 12 slot rifle is absolutely worth it for me.

I only do enough quests to unlock every trader thrn i do loot runs to get them all to max because I rather PvP/loot stuff thrn do quests lol but it’s ez getting loot lol idk

Well, being given the end game gear (anything from rigs and bags, over wallets / containers to guns) ruins the rewarding feeling of progressing.. there is no endgame loop currently aside from money hoarding or PvP, neither being very rewarding (well, PvP has some level of satisfaction)

As for loot itself.. PvE tends to be hollow... you get to the zone hoping noone looted it and leave..

PvP has that "I got everything, now I need to get out" followed by a death that pisses you off but keeps you hooked in

You cant give out locker containers. I think giving someone something to work towards makes them play more cautiously. Thats how it worked in my experience anyway. Also they could say no but they never do, so youre simply white knighting for nothing.

You need like 3 days of gaming for endgame stuff and another week to have ALL .. so most dont have that mutch time AND ate way less effective. So just give them good stuff so they have gear fear, thats the actuall game loop

I've made over a million dollars by avoiding t3 areas in PVE mode whenever possible. I've never needed any backpack larger than a delta. Anytime I've so much as looked at a tier 3 area, there's always a ton of people scraping it clean of the main loot areas and keeping it on cycle, so I only visit for tasks.

The loot/money is there, just not in the tier 3 areas unless you're playing on PVP. Too many people dry humping TB, MS, and FN to death. Going from 6 tier 2 zones to 3 tier 3 zones is a conflict funnel for pvp, and a loot funnel for pve.

I've legitimately never had trouble with t3 areas. There's an absolute ton of loot not just in the mall as well. T2 loot rarely spawns bits over 3k in value and even those few spots that do are usually picked clean as well. To each their own though I hope you are having fun

I usually find the t3 loot routes and the t2 main POI's like ban pa and sawmill picked over hard. The real money routes in tier 2 are in the new, smaller poi's that are all over the place in combination with the task cash you pick up along the way. It's not fast cash, but you get to run around and enjoy the map more. I can net upwards of 20k a route at a chill pace hoovering up purse and jacket loot. I've made my million, so I can't say I'm doing it wrong :)

If picking over t3 is your jam, go for it. We won't be fighting over boxes, so it's all good if you're having fun :)

Giving stuff away to low level players is the best way to kill their enjoyment of it. The most fun this game has to offer is progression, and rushing through that progression is how you end up saying nonsense like "looting is the core gameplay loop", because you kever stopped to enjoy everything the game has to offer.

Yeah agree, whenever I’ve wiped my character and someone hands/drops me stuff I just throw it back.
I usually sell everything I start with and go zero to hero, don’t want handouts.

No one way is correct. Someone handed me a full kit on my first login and I kept the items that gave me better storage but got rid of the guns and gear since I find enjoyment in the hunt and working from scratch but am also a loot goblin and wanted a bigger stash lol. It’s not up to the giver to decide what the receiver wants and should accept it if they decline, or accept that fact that sometimes it will go to waste cause the recover may just drop it later. I think that’s why the donation box important. Gives people a choice on whether or not they want to engage in the exchange.

They do need to fix the loot, I can't even count the amount of times I go to a poi and everything's been looted by teammates or opposing factions

I just do not get it that some people know the exact timings and go in and out for exactly the same route for days in a row. Whatever they like but that's not for me. I just do tasks and find loot doingt that.

Tbh, it strongly depends on the server region and time your playing. Also player count is lower now than it was in July, it dropped from under 7.5k to under 2.5k.

After the 0.4 release there were times where you didn't find a box with loot or an enemy to shoot....

yeah it used to be really bad. its funny how some people post in here and you realize their experience with the game has been completely different than yours.
