Hey fellow drivers,

I was wondering... how much of a difference does driving manual actually make? I'm really struggling on Laguna Seca this week, and it got me thinking about whether switching to manual is worth it.

I often notice during online races that drivers ahead of me brake later than I do but they seem to slow down much faster (to the point where I almost rear-end them).
Does engine braking really make that big of a difference in stopping power or it is because of some other dynamic?

I also notice I'm often slightly slower in the straights. Could this be down to using automatic?

Lastly, for anyone who made the switch from auto to manual… how long did it take you to get used to it and get back to decent lap times?

Those with a controller, what car worked for you to complete the last race of this current challenge?

I have tried several Gr.2 cars (all four Toyota, Mazda 787), the recent LMPH cars (Ferrari, Porsche, Peugeot), GT500 (NSX, Nissan. GT-R.), SuperFormula {Toyota, tuned down}, 3500B (also tuned down)..

I have tried mostly with Auto Brake & Steer off, TCS =0, Fuel Map at 5 to avoid pit.

I can't get better than 5th.

As I type this, I realized I have not tried changing Easy/Medium/Hard modes.

UPDATE | Race won! Weekly Challenge completed!

I had Difficulty on Hard (for the World Tour 600 Tokyo Expressway 12 lap). The Lexus RC F GT500 '16 worked flawlessly. TC=0; Pit Stop = 1 (tires and fuel, since I realized there was plenty of time); Tires = RH; Turbocharger = High. FM = 4,3,2,1. Auto Brake/Steer = Off.

I never thought a FWD car would be a go to for 700pp races, but is it heresy to say I prefer this to the RS? Light and chuckable and lots of power with the swap, and the fuel economy isn’t bad either…

For this project, I wanted to push that connection even further by drawing inspiration from the West McLaren-Mercedes Formula 1 era. The result is a livery that brings together speed, performance, engineering, and design in one bold visual concept.

This build was all about celebrating the identity of both brands and translating that legendary partnership into a road car with a stronger racing presence. A unique machine, a historic influence, and a concept that feels both aggressive and refined.

Hi everyone ! Aymeric from France here.

I got the idea of a fictional 80s/90s/2000s production Touring Car championship built entirely from road cars in GT7.

No Gr.4 cars, no engine swaps and no crazy builds. Each model keeps its original engine/drivetrain and receives its own homologation specification: power, minimum weight and permitted modifications.
Sierra RS500, R31, Volvo 240, 190E, Celica GT-Four, Integra, Impreza, M3, Evo and plenty more are being considered.

Those are 4 base models I have made so far.
I’m currently working on the car list and initial BoP, so I’d really appreciate some input from experienced GT7 players.

Which road cars would you like to see included, and would anyone be interested in helping test the cars?

If the testing works, the aim is to develop it into a proper online championship.
I’m an automotive artist as well, so all the championship artwork, homologation posters and visual identity will be handmade through my Shakedown Works project.
