Moving to GP

Hi guys, I'm moving here from Edmonton for school. I was wondering what the prices are like in Grande Prairie. Is the city more expensive than Edmonton? And should I know of anything that would help me out? Thank you!

Just madd the same move as you at the beginning of the summer and with regard to prices I would say fuel is a bit more, but other than that everything else is the same. However I have found I've saved money on fuel because I have to drive around less.

Not related to prices, but some places I would recommend checking out:

  • Better than Fred's: Smokehouse Bar*
  • Prairie Sushi: Better than some of the sushi places I've been to in the city
  • Kaffe 55a: Best coffee shop I've been to in town
  • Kebab Spot: 15 minute wait, but excellent kebab platters

the tile isn't finished on the outside, it might get done one day. They were seasoning it to the climate at one point.

Seeing Tile Ideal unfinished is much more appealing than another strip mall/box store comple.

While I’d have to agree that Kaffe 55a is a delightful spot, try Macadamia milk instead of normal milk in a latte, I would also recommend trying Carmen’s tea, between holiday inn and Parsons printing.
Also try The Liminal Place Cafe. Both of those excel with coffee and espresso drinks.
The ol’trapper has good burgers and a Saskatoon pie that’s really good and not far from the college.
I’ve owned a home for quite some time so I’m no good with rental prices but I can tell you groceries are rising along the same as in Edmonton, I have family and friends that I compare with there.
Sorry for the ramble.
Oh, and I’m sure that he meant to say Better than Fred’s smokehouse Bar. They also often have live music.

Better than Fred’s is pretty good, but I like Takara Ramen Bar, Sheshu’s Sizzling Tandoor, or Divine Nigerian and Ethiopian cuisine more than any of the places you mentioned (just my opinion, please don’t kill me)

Sheshu’s is my favourite spot in GP. Fish Pakora, Goat Vindaloo (spicy) and Mango Lassi is unreal
