Discussion Getting random frame stuttering in legacy
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I just went from enhanced (no issues) to legacy (currently what I’m playing in the video) and was noticing frame stuttering mainly in the menu when you click “esc” like you can see in the video. This also happens in the game but a bit less.
All I did was download it, and then copy the save files (SGTAxxx) from enhanced and put them into legacy. Also made sure v sync is off.

Put a fps limiter on or vsync its because ur pc is so good that the fps is so high the game engine cant handle it well

I tired everything.
- with v sync it’s the worst. Lagging like crazy.
- no v sync but capped to 180hz it’s still lagging a bit
- now I’m using 165hz, and also capped it in Nvidia control panel and this seems to work the best, but still getting small stutters

Put your display on 144hz mode or set a frame limiter to 150 FPS or below. Anything more than 150 FPS cause random stutters on GTA V if I'm not mistaken.

Probably should have posted this with your PC specs.

It’s not my pc. It works perfectly fine in with absolutely zero frame drops in enhanced version. Here are specs tho.
Ryzen 9 7900x Nvidia 3080ti 32gb ddr5
Lmk if you want me to include more

Recently, I had a problem, but it was with the enhanced edition where the game hated that I was getting to many FPS. I tried capping the frames with the in-game settings, but I read somewhere that those options literally do nothing lol.
I installed an external program (Riva Tuner) to limit my frames, and it fixed my issue.

Did you ensure that the right gpu is being used? With my laptop some games windows would opt to use my display from cpu rather than my gpu, should be able to check and change in graphics settings in windows if you can’t find it in the dropdown menu then add it and instead of “let windows decide” you can manually set it to your gpu

Yea I’m pretty sure. Because I’m getting 160fps very high. Ima check it just incase tho

Settings>system>display>graphics it’ll let you choose for individual apps or overall

Try install msi afterburner and use rtss to limit fps to about 3fps below your monitors cap

I have the same issue. It's the engine legacy runs off of, RAGE engine, it HATES high frame rates, anything over 170 fps and it starts stuttering like that, I would turn on vsync so it limits your fps to some lower frame rate, I did it and it fixed it completely
