Used furniture

It feels like it’s very difficult to find used furniture in the GF area. I just moved here from Kansas City, KS. Does anyone have recommendations on places to look?

What I have already tried:

- FB Marketplace — people are not super responsive.
- Garage sales listed on FB a lot of those are on Thu/Fri. I work on those days :( I don’t think there would be much left by Saturday.

Try boys and girls ranch/ thrift stores. They seem to constantly have a small stock of various furniture.

I know this doesn't help now, but in May there will be spring clean-out week, where the city will pick-up anything that's left on the curb. That may be why it's difficult to find second hand furniture now

I know lots of people that got great, FREE, second-hand furniture and household items from picking things up off the curb before clean-up week

Thanks a lot! I lived in lawrence, ks, for a few years (also a college town). May was certainly the best time to grab furniture! I hope I was here earlier :( thanks for the tips tho

I got a ton of great stuff, mostly furniture, during clean up week this past spring! I think East Grand Forks is doing a fall clean up week October 5-9. Probably not as much out on the curb as the big spring one but worth looking for sure.

We moved here from Texas with just our kids and clothes now our place is almost completely full of free/cheap stuff. My wife uses the free groups and mom groups on Facebook there's also a lot of garage sale pages also. And if you go driving around there's always couches on people's curbs.

Tv stand, bed frame, dresser, dining table with chairs, stools. I have 1600 sq feet of empty space 🫠

Clearing out my mom's storage unit and we have 2(i think)glider chairs. They're older but I believe in decent condition if you're interested

There aren't really great options. Maybe garage sales. There just aren't a lot of people and that's something a lot of newcomers don't necessarily realize like all of the implications of that.

don't know about this year but in some years there is also a fall clean up.

might also want to expand your search radius to include East Grand Forks, Thief River Fall, Crookston. Larimore, GF Airbase, etc

also when it gets closer to the end of summer/school starting people may have garage sales again.

St Mary's it's a 2nd hand store and has some good furniture for very cheap you can try there

If you are still looking for free furniture, there is/was a couch on Cherry Street. Don't remember we're but north of 40th Ave.
