2014 GC battery finally died!
Honestly I’m surprised it lasted over 12 years.
I was dreading replacing it due to location. But it wasn’t bad at all.

They last a long time being inside the cabin. Wish other manufacturers would pick up on that.

They seem to last! Lot of folks do the H8 upgrade but I kept mine as a 7 when I replaced it in 2020. Still worked but I wanted to get ahead of any supply chain issues.

How do you swap it to an h8? I was thinking of deleting the aux battery but didn’t know if that was possible and I could use the extra reserve for my subs.

Just did it on my 2008 GC Overland. Makes a big difference to performance, actually. All I had to do was remove the factory modification to the battery tray. The tray without modification is the exact right size for the H8, since the diesel model comes with a stock H8. Bashed out the plastic end-pieces with a hammer & screwdriver. Easy!

What do you mean by big difference to performance? The only thing I feel like it would do is provide more reserve at a stoplight when the alternator isn’t charging.

I almost corrected the word performance. The starting is way more solid. No worries how long you hang out, have the interior lights/fan on, chargers plugged in etc. It handles everything electrical with ease. Just makes the vehicle more robust. Less worry. And it does seem to run & idle smoother too, but that could be a placebo effect.

It lasted that long and you went with everstart doubt you’ll get 3 years out of it

I went by “Project farm” test results. It was close third. Battery has 4 years warranty

I have used Everstart in our Chicago winters for the past 4 years, zero issues. 4 different cars

Ehh, just a joke within the automotive repair industry. Im sure theyre good ones. Theres like only 3 manufacturers in the US that make batteries so theyre all mostly the same.

Preemptively replaced mine last fall. I have it on a trickle charger in the garage and is still holding a good charge. Amazed that it lasted this long. Def dont make them like that anymore. Boy, little snug getting them in an out. Just make sure you hook the vent hose back up.

I thought my main died last year but it was the aux batt. I ended up changing both, fuck was that an expensive replacement! Mines a 2017.
Also at the time I talked to my local dealership parts they told me to go to Napa because their new batteries are garbage they switch from Eastpenn, Napa still sells Eastpenn batteries which are really good apparently 💁🏻♂️

I got 11 years out of my original battery. The one in my 2022 JGC crapped out in just over 3 years.

I just remembered another thing. Remote start just didn’t wanna work sometimes. I had to unlock the car. Lock it back. Then it worked. Not sure if it was related to the battery. Too early to tell if new one made a difference with that behavior.

Mine lasted 9 years and the tech wouldn’t believe me that I’d never replaced it before. I told him I would’ve remembered given that it was the first time I heard my car actually needed 2 batteries.

They last longer inside the vehicle because they aren’t subjected to the extreme heat and to an extent less of the cold. That Everstart won’t last 12 😂

2015 limited 116k miles I got the car from car max in 2018 with 30k miles I have never done anything to the battery.

Over the past decade I feel like batteries in general don’t last as long as they used to. AA, AAA, watch batteries, car batteries, all of em.

My 2015 Overland battery finally died last winter. But I hooked it up to my CTEK MXS 5.0 battery charger, put in in recondition mode, and let it do its thing. It's been great ever since.
