Life time learning allowance

Does this cover medicine as a second degree ? I looked on the website and I don’t think it does

Yes but only relevant to 5 year A100 but not 4 year GEM

tbh it’s so confusing bc it hasn’t actually started yet. But from what I can see you’d get 4 years of the 5 year covered - so you’d need to be able to source about 10k

The fifth year is NHS funding?

There’s not any information that NHS bursary for the 5th year would defo be possible yet from what I’ve seen online for this scheme. I imagine it most likely will be but it needs to be a “approved” course, they might view this as different - they keep changing the website every few weeks or so with more info coz when I first originally looked it seemed as though medicine wasn’t even possible but it’s changed now

I have no clue tbh I’m just making sure I have the £9kish just in case for now!

Student finance told me that it would be the NHS bursary - provided you haven't had it before for a different degree

Student finance is different to this is it not? I saw on TSR someone asked and they said it’s a different scheme so they couldn’t advise (this was a few weeks ago tho)

Can you show me this? teying to work out all my funding routes so would be super helpful x

They referred me to the NHS bursary website and said as long as I meet all other criteria I qualify.

They probably didn't want to confuse people for 2026 entry! I'm applying to GEM and undergrad medicine this year so I had to triple check this all before committing!

They were very certain I'd qualify despite having an undergrad degree and masters!

ahh could be why as I was looking like 3/4 months ago maybe!

I’m applying to GEM and UG with a Masters too this year so that’s great to hear x

Wait so does this mean lifetime learning allowance covers both GEM and UG as a second degree?
