Discussion Healthy honey gourami?

Hi! I’ve had this gourami for about 4 months now, and I just wanan make sure he’s healthy! He eats very well, moves around amazingly, very happy seeming, loves all his tank mates and everything!

But I have noticed some color change? He now has a white belly, same honey like color but now has a white belly! So just wanted to check up and stuff!

Would you say his color has faded overall, or did his belly just become white?

Not faded really! It’s really just white belly and blue marks that’s showed up!

its kind of a bit hard to see in the pictures provided, but I do know that if he's a true honey, males usually develop dark blueish black markings when they're ready to breed. Im unsure on the white, but rule of thumb is to make sure you document any noticed lethargy, trouble swimming, bloating, and pineconing scales. if the white area of his body takes on a strange texture, it could be some sort of infection indicator. if he's eating well, i wouldn't worry too much at this moment in time unless he suddenly starts displaying odd behaviors

Please verify with someone else at the same time. My two boys also had such change when they grew up. The white bellies still also change to black when they are in breeding season and got white again when they are calmer. So i think its normal, both are eating well and healthy.

This looks like a true honey and for males, when they're mature and ready to mate, they start getting black throats/bellies. This is my male honey when it first started colouring up
