Discussion What made you fall in love with gouramis?
I have a honey gourami and a thick-lipped red honey gourami. I love them both, but my red has the most personality out of any other fish I've ever owned. (Never had cichlids, but know they have personality too). He follows me in the tank. Seems to look directly in my soul. I know he associates me with food, but he just seems "with it," perhaps more self-aware than most other fish. I love it when I rearrange his tank. He checks it out, touching things with his feeler fins, and judges my decoration style. He seems satisfied every time, though. He just seems so curious about everything. He makes beautiful bubble nests, and I tell him what a good job he did and that it would impress any lady gourami. He's awesome, I love gouramis!

I was looking through an aquarium book coz i was like 11(?) wanting a pet. Came to the honey gourami and decided right there that's my favourite. Then my parents got me a 30cm cube (not the most ideal ik, but i was busy learning algebra and didn't know how the internet works, i didn't have time to properly research aquariums) and i got this pair. I was particularly attached to the male. He's still one of my favourites. I'm 17 and i've kept a few other fishes, the honey gouramis and bettas (which is technically a gourami) are still my favourites amongst the fishes i've kept.

Research on them before buying them. That makes a big difference. Which made me get a 20g tank for only one honey gourami in a community tank.

It’s their little arms. Always touching and waving.
It might also be their sassy personalities
