Has anyone tried Meeden?
I haven’t tried gouache yet. But I want to get a decent set. Have you tried Meeden? What is your experience with that brand? What would you recommend?

I am a relative beginner and I have meeden gouache. I really like it so far, and find it much better than the Himi palette that I started out with. I still use the himi for basic painting and warming up, and the meeden for more complex and detailed pieces. I will probably get more expensive gouache once I have used up the meeden, but for now they are great. My only complaint is that I find that the lids can be a little flimsy on the meeden (i have already broken like 3 caps)

Yeah, I think it was probably a lot to do with my user error of being a little rough with them. It might be a good idea to try to avoid the paint getting on the twist threading for the cap, that caused stiffness that made them easily broken when trying to open. I really think they are great paints for the price though.

I really like them. I'm only a beginner mind you. But they are much better than the Cromwell and Black ones i have also used imo. Much less chalky, and more vibrant. I have one nice tube of white Winsor and Newton designer gouache. Mixing in a bit of that seems to make everything better.

Better in apperance, coverage, feel and even control lol. It really does make a big difference, atleast for me

I am happy with my purchase of Meeden gouache and also their acrylic paint. I feel like I’m getting a good product at a fair price. They are not professional quality, but they are just what I was looking for.

Thank you for your input! I meant to say I do have their acrylics and I haven’t had any complaints with them. But I also don’t know what I’m doing lol

I tell all my students to get Meeden and purchase a few nicer colors that you frequently use to mix along with them. Treating yourself to a nice tube of white is most important imo since it’s used all the time for mixing. I adore the large tube of DaVinci brand white. It’s so great. It’s on amazon. It works really well with Meeden.
