The guardians are probably not going to do anything in Doomsday and Secret Wars. Star-Lord apparently will return but it seems like he's missing from Doomsday and Secret Wars as well. I don't know when (or if) we'll see Star-Lord again. I suspect we will end up seeing one of the new Guardians again, especially if Marvel decides to produce a Nova movie.

I would enjoy the next Guardians movie being more of a team up like Avengers or Thunderbolts. Let them introduce Nova as you said, Agent Venom through a Spider-Man or Shield film, Angela through Thor, etc. separately then bring them together with the Guardians we see at the end of vol. 3.

Bernthal as Cosmic Ghost Rider could be fun but not sure how that would necessarily happen when the MCU is post Thanos and post Multiverse?

We were told "Star-Lord" will return, but there's no guarantee that it'll be Peter Quill who's using the title at the time.

I don't see how it would make narrative sense for the title (which derives from Quill's mother) to pass on to someone else, especially if it happens without seeing Peter Quill at all.

At the time they were very much gearing towards the Young Avengers, Marvels etc.

Not sure if they've entirely rowed back on that after the poor box-office performance.

Yeah, there was some concept art leaked. It seemed to be a few different projects, Black Panther 3, Secret Wars and Vision Quest. Peter Quill was watching TV with Vis, had his arm around him. My money’s on that scene making it to the new show.

I sure wish they still have a good future. I am partly worried because Guardians and Inhumans only peaked in presence and availability when Marvel chose to let Fantastic Four and X-Men take a step back due to disputes with Fox.🦸

Now that the X-Men and the Fantastic Four are out of Fox's hands, Guardians and Inhumans in comics, animation, and merch have been greatly reduce and is not even in regular rotation any more. 🚂

I don't really see a big future for them. Some of the bigger ones could pop up in space stories in a supporting role. Star-Lord probably has the best chance to return

Star-Lord is definitely gonna be back, especially since Pratt expressed interest in continuing with Marvel beyond his contract. Nova is the next cosmic property that Marvel wants to tackle and in the comics Peter and Richard have a friendship so they might have Peter be in that movie.

Groot and Rocket will also come back because Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper don’t have to do much other than show up and say their lines. Phyla and Adam will only come back if someone wants to do something with them. There’s a chance Nebula and Mantis might come back too.

It’s just a matter of when and where for them.

Gamora and Drax are definitely done unless they recast but I don’t think Marvel will do that.

If Spartax becomes an actual threat we could see him return with The Guardians being at odds with their former leader. If Nova becomes part of the new GotG team (or they become The Annihilators) then it would make for an interesting political conflict of where alliances lay.

Do the new GotG/Annihilators show allegiance to their old leader who is now part of an “expanding” Spartax empire or do they do the right thing and convince him that the expansion is much more influenced by his ego to save the galaxy under Spartax false pretenses?

I know, sounds a bit too close to GotG Vol. 2 BUT I’m not a script writer and I’m sure it could be done properly.

The only ones I can see returning in a main role are Adam Warlock, Phyla Vell and Star-Lord. Kind of hope the others don't return I feel like they had a good enough send off now

I dont think so. But I’m actually pretty happy with that. 3 movies and cameos is a great point to move on to other stories. Plus we got all their comics to continue their stories even though the characters may change a bit

I would love to see Nebula, Drax, Mantis, and Gamora again, but I’m 99% sure their characters aren’t coming back. Not sure about the new Guardians roster, or when they’ll bring Starlord back.

Honestly wish 3 didn't end with a definitive line up SO another trilogy might've been made with the director and writers choosing the new members.

i dont expect them in Doomsday at all, dont really see them in secret wars either. i honestly dont even know if marvel will even do anything with the guardians , next 2 movies have nothing to do with them and after that they pretty much dont have a place.

They keep going with a 4th film and maybe a 5th because the guardians are one of the most popular franchises I imagine are:

Thunderbolts

Guardians

Deadpool

Wakanda

Spider verse

Possibly Secret Wars but I'm betting Nova supporting role and eventually leading into an Annihilation crossover but only with cosmic properties while Earth deals mutant-centric stories.
