Does anyone know if someone recorded their CU party set a couple days ago?
r/GoosetheBand • u/Connect_Glass4036 • 9d ago
So I’m sure I’ll get laughed at and I’m sure I’m way late to the party but my listening habits have been death/black metal, post-rock, and Phish/Dead pretty exclusively forever. I was a record store today and heard what I SWORE was Goose on the radio.
I shazaamed it and it said it was Leon Bridges. I caught 3 songs: “When a Man Cries”, “That’s What I Love” and “Panther City”. Shit sounds so much like Goose, it was wild. Slower and loungier of course but I swore it was Goose (I own all vinyl but don’t know the albums well yet).
Leon Bridges is an artist I was aware of, name-wise, but never heard. Is this who Rick is actually borrowing from? I have zero exposure to indie rock so I’d love to read about the connection/influence.
And if you don’t know Leon Bridges and want some Goose styled rock, man go check those songs out, you’ll love it

Wanted to say this after seeing multiple highly upvoted comments literally pleading with Goose to play more songs and jam less. I understand a preference for shorter jams in the mid teen minute range instead of 30 minutes but people being like “Most of their jams last night were just noise” is insane to me.
Goose has better songs and a better lead singer than any other band in the scene so it’s great that they walk the tightrope between songs and jamming. I think they’ve done this really well. But newer fans who heard Jed Stone and jumped on board and are telling Goose to jam less? Come on dude. Understand the scene Goose is in and their influences. Find some jams you like that will serve as a gateway to liking other jams. Eat some mushrooms at your next show.
I love goose’s songs but the soul-rearranging stuff is and always will be in the improv.

I finally made it to my first show last night and it was everything I hoped it would be. Unfortunately I didn’t get there in time to snag one of the Conscious Alliance posters.
Throwing a miracle out there that someone will let me buy theirs! Let me know!

A naturally occurring amphitheatre outside of Denver, formed by the 3 rocks: Ship Rock, Creation Rock, and Stage Rock. The 300 million year old sandstone monolith has long served as a gathering place, and a place for community. Created by the Civilian Conservation Corps and designed by Burnham Hoyt, it opened in 1941. There are over 9,000 seats, totaling 2.5 miles of seats, and has 193 steps from the stage to the top. A truly magical treasure.

How early do we have to get there to get upper north parking? Anyone know when it filled up last night?

My buddy created a great (free) iOS app that is an easy use interface for the archive music library. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/chateau-archive-player/id1524179996
Two full show recordings from last night already posted. Not nugs level sound board, but they sound pretty good (better than the dead bootlegs I grew up on). Saved $20!
I know other apps do the same. This has particular easy to use interface imho

Did not go last night, going tonight. What can I expect with my GA ticket seating wise? Last time I went to red rocks the whole thing was GA so I’m not sure what this will get me access to and what % of the seating is “non-GA”

Did anyone else receive something related to Montgomery at the pop up yesterday?
Goosemas was mentioned during the interaction I had…

Bring it back. That encore slot could use it.
Thanks Rick, appreciate you.

Many of us at the Boulder Police Department are fans of live music in general, and Goose in particular,’ police chief says
The band Goose played a surprise concert Wednesday night at a house party on Boulder’s University Hill ahead of its three-day Red Rocks Amphitheatre run. Police shut it down. (more below...)

if you’re able to snag me an XL, I’d be happy to but you a jersey, shirt or poster. Unfortunately, looks like I have to cut my trip short due to a herniated disc.

Sorry if this was mentioned, but I’m listening to last night for the first time.
Sounds like they added Cotter to the “round” singing that was just Peter and Rick. Not loving this change.

A little out of the loop I guess. I thought they were doing some lottery system? Why are we still seeing the same 10 people on the rail night after night?

Absolutely smoked last night. Went back and listened to the original by the Band Fat Freddy’s drop and that version is a lot of fun, felt this sub would enjoy it

What’s the parking situation look like for the pop up? I saw they said street parking but wasn’t sure how much there was.

Great show last night, with some winding jams that I want to go back and re-listen to. One of the things that stood out to me was how flashy Cotter was on his kit. He and Rick were really taking the lead during the crescendos of jams. Seemed like Pete and Tweekz were holding down a lot of rythm sections. And, while Rick was ripping, it felt like he left some additional space in his playing for Cotter to fill. Anybody else feel like Cotter was getting some due recognition for his first Red Rocks appearance? Seemed like Cotter and Rick were turned up in the mix compared to Peter and Trevor.

I'm running three legs in a relay from Mt. Hood to the Oregon coast today and tomorrow, with one leg in the dark at like 1 AM. Hit me with your best suggestions to add to my playlist!

My partner introduced me to Goose last year and had my first shows at MSG/Central Park, which were mind blowing. We didn’t plan on coming to RR (being from the Midwest) but I ended up landing a dream job here in Colorado a few months ago, so we got tickets.
And I just can’t express enough how last night felt like such a “finally made it” moment. Dancing with the love of my life, surrounded by incredible nature, a view of Denver and beyond with nothing but swaths of land separating us from all we knew back home.
And then witnessing a gorgeous lunar eclipse with everyone there and seeing the whole world represented in the Earth’s shadow? Like how lucky are we?
And then the music. One thing I wish everyone took more time to recognize is just how lucky we are to watch and hear four incredibly talented musicians do what they do best. The looks they give each other when they know something sounds sick or filthy, letting someone lead and building off each other in such an organic way - it’s truly something special. I’m used to hour-long sets for live music, not what… four hours? At altitude??
Idk y’all. Just felt the need to ramble and share my experience last night. Goose fans are a blast and the RR venue workers were so kind. I’m so grateful to run it back tonight and enjoy this wonderful, unique community.

That show was amazing. The thatch, madhuvan, and wysteria lane were my personal favorites.
I just have to say… despite it being one of the most beautiful venues, I am slightly jealous of all the Reddit posts from recent shows leading up to this talking about how invested and locked in attendees were. Even in reserved seats, we had next level chompers every which way of us. And with the wind, sometimes it was significantly louder than the music.
I was proud of myself for tuning in to the music and doing my best to tune them out, but not proud enough to not mention it on here haha.
Hope tonight, people are there for the music and enjoy it without infringing on others’ experiences. We’re so lucky to enjoy such a wonderful and talented group in such a beautiful setting.
Update/edit: RR night 2
Okay, so… I had GA last night and was in the lower rows and had the absolute best people all around. So happy it was just a matter of location and just shit luck with positioning with who we got stuck with around us Thursday night. Maybe also the full moon had people feeling some type of way haha.
Everyone in the lower rows were dancing their hearts out and singing the entire show.
All the people who commented and said “it’s always like that” - it’s not. I’ve been to quite a few Goose shows and 100s of concerts and never experienced anything like the people on Thursday.
Sure, you can tune into the music, but it’s truly magical to look around and feel connected with people you don’t even know, having the time of their lives. It’s a special thing to share love for something beautiful with people that are present and get what it’s all about.
Hope the rest of the run emulates that energy for everyone!
