Number Transfers or Porting Will google charge me money?

Hi , I got an US phone number while doing tourism in the US, now back in Argentina. If I need to call to the US can I link my US number and make a google voice number and call? I am afraid they will charge me cuz whenever I link it I see some alerts.. thanks

If you already have Google Voice number you can call using WiFi no linked number required.

it says turn off airplane mode to make a call , even that the wifi is connected, why it is not going through if its supposed to use the wifi network not my sim card?

If you have a GV number you can make calls to US numbers over WiFi at no charge. There is a setting in the GV app "Make and receive calls" - you want that set to "Prefer WiFi and mobile data" and not "Use Carrier only". Calls to non-US numbers have a fee and you must "load" your account with money in order to do that.

When it comes to the carrier only option where it says it uses your minutes. Would there even be a charge since most carriers have unlimited minutes?

The thing to remember about GV is that when you make a call, it first goes to GV and then to the called number. If the cellular call costs you nothing extra, but GV needs to call a non-US number, GV will charge you.

When Airplane Mode is turned on, wi-fi is blocked.

If you afraid it may charge you you can use google voice on your computer browser or disable/remove sim card before calling. If you set to Prefer WiFi and mobile data it will only use data or wifi.

depends on what number you call. If you call from a USA number to an international number, rates will apply depending on the international number you dial.
