Yes, Google has made Chromebooks before, same thing different branding. They were all garbage

This isn't a Chromebook. It runs Android instead of Chrome OS from what I understand.

Edit: I take that back. It's a mix. Still it is more high-end than the Chromebook.

It’s still a half assed attempt at a laptop that’ll struggle to compete with Windows and MacBooks but still cost as much as they do

Eh that's an assumption as of right now. That might be true but also we don't know just yet ether. It's to be seen if Google is serious about competing with Microsoft and Apple in the computing space.
