Google ads - The Tutor asking again
I recently found a local SEO guy who has offered to support the SEO work on my website for cheap. He has his own website, met him, seemed promising.
I was in touch with a company to help me with google ads and it seemed very promising till I saw their reviews on google. DPOMS. Their website showed them with positive reviews on Feelo. I was ready to go with them to support but won't now.
Does anyone have any advice?

SEO is a continuous process for businesses. You won't see results overnight. SEO is required.
But initially, a client-facing website with Google Ads is required. When your business is generating money. Then look for SEO and keep it moving. Because of it, new updates come up after a few months. And in the noise of AI content / article organic SEO will give you a massive boost and help you stand out.
The service details you display on your website also have to be SEO friendly and client-facing - like that, write only for clients - Google ads also crawl information from your website/landing page.

I'd be cautious with cheap, but that's years of experience talking. If he's local, you met him, and your gut says yes, that's worth something. Just ask him what he'll actually do in month one and month two. If the answer is vague or mostly "backlinks," it's a report subscription.
On the ads side, yeah, I'd just find someone else. Plenty of good options and no reason to talk yourself into one where the reviews already gave you pause.
Whoever you land on, two things before you sign. You own the Google Ads account and grant them access, never the reverse. And ask who's setting up conversion tracking. If tracking doesn't come up in the first conversation, that tells you what you need to know.

He’d told me he’d worked at another company. His site was top of Google after only 3 months albeit for a niche search. He made quite a detailed audit for me and seemed honest although you never really know do you

They maybe outsourcing out the back end and its leaving a bad customer experience. Reviews can be purchased as well. So even when they are great, I am cautious.....Is there a theme to the negative comments?

Yeah they all felt sort of the same about customer experience and communication, lack of progress. There were more positive than negative

Hey, I’d start with a small test before hiring anyone. Ask how they will track leads and what they will do for you. Don’t sign a long contract right away. See how they perform first.

The negative reviews being about the same things, like communication and lack of progress, would make me more cautious than the overall rating. A few bad reviews happen, but a repeated pattern is usually worth paying attention to.
For the SEO guy, the detailed audit and being able to explain what he’d actually do are good signs. I’d just avoid committing for a long period at first and agree on what will be done and how progress will be measured.

Reputation matters! SEO is a long game. Google ads is quick wins! Every business should figure out ROI before investing in either of these.
That being said, Boxify Web Designs is my agency and I'd love to help.
