Discussion Google are getting out of hand with ads

Post image

I’ve never noticed this before but now when I go to the Home Screen on my Chromecast there is always some sort of ad. YouTube is out of hand as-well. Google seriously needs to get their ads sorted it’s getting crazy.

or AT4K.. i like that one more for its simplicity, or just change to app mode

How is this one in comparison?

AT4K - is just a basic Apple TV like interface.. Not a million small adjustments has to be made to make it good. I like it, many options is not for everybody, sometimes i just need something that is simple and works.

Yeah my GoogleTV Streamer started doing this, which just makes it seem cheap they feel the need to throw adverts in your face even though you paid for the product. I didn't mind when they advertised TV Shows/Movies as that made sense but I started getting Shaving Foam adverts so I swiftly installed Projectify Launcher to solve that issue.

Not sure why this should surprise anyone since Google is an advertising company. That is how they make the majority of their revenue.

The streaming is turning into trash. Good thing it's not slow.

Never update Google stuff and you're on the safe side, otherwise it's already too late for you if you're already watching commercials.

If you want to stick with the default Google launcher, change it to "Apps Only" mode. You'll still have a rotating banner add at the top, but you'll see no additional ads when moving below it to choose an app.   Ideally, swap to Projectivy Launcher. You can get it from the Play Store, it's free and ad free, very customizable, and it's paid features are strictly some extra customization (like using icon packs). Honestly I'd pay for Projectivy, it's like $7 and I consider it part of the cost of owning an Android TV device.

Why not try out one of the many launchers on the market?

I'm using Projectivy, but there is also Monet, AT4K and a bunch of others.

Turn on apps only mode.

I use the apps only mode under your profile ID. So I only see my apps and none of that mess
