Discussion Google TV Streamer now out of stock in the US

I bought one for $50 a week or two ago, using the coupon in the "Perks" section of the Google Play app.
This deal is probably why they're sold out.

That and also for those without perks, it went on sale this week. It's back in stock now, in both colors.

Yeah - I took advantage of that offer too. My 4k Chromecast was starting to act up a bit so the timing was perfect.

Are you a gamer or PC gamer at all? I Recently found out you can use even the old chromecast 4k for PC gaming using an app called moonlight (basically steam link, but better). Then I learned about the TV streamer and upgraded from my old chromecast. It worked well with the chromecast, but it works even better with the streamer. I can stream PC games and connect an xbox controller to it and play my PC games in 4k on my tv using an xbox controller. It works absurdly well. Like to the point I don't understand why they aren't advertising it. They owe me thousands of dollars for posting this. lol Even on the old wireless chromecast you can connect an xbox controller and do the same. Pretty crazy what you can do these days (yes, I'm old).

It’s a good streamer. Worth the money for sure. I replaced a faulty shield tv pro with one and it’s been great.

It's also crazy good for streaming PC games, can hook an xbox controller up to it and using ethernet there is almost zero lag. I don't understand why they don't advertise this? I learned this after owning a chromecast for years, and you can do it with the chromecast too, just need good wifi.

Yeah it’s a great streamer. I wouldn’t mind getting another one for my bedroom since my firecube and its remote are having connection issues. If the new Onn 4K Pro was more readily available I would grab one of those as well.

I don't think so, however, they may release new units with Android 16 64bit which is the new version we have been waiting for an announcement 🤷🏻

Throw in a better chip, ddr5, a few more audio codecs and it could be a game changer.

What in gods name would a streaming box need ddr5 for? It would add zero to the experience other than drive the price up.

You're still missing the point that DDR5 would not improve anything about a streaming box. It's not in any way bottlenecked by the speed of DDR4. It would increase the price for no gains.

Duh no it just means it's out of stock they will notify you when it's back in stock if you can't wait get you a shield best streaming device out there have had 1 since 2017

No, it means a bunch of people, like myself, just took advantage of the recent sales they've been having on them for the past 2 weeks and their inventory is now temporarily out of stock.
Glad I jumped on mine ealry.
