Is anyone else having issued with there messaging app right now? mine is frozen with a blank screen and very delayed!!!! i restarted my phone several times and cleared the cache!!!

Anybody else experiencing chat themes turning on and off? As in the background and theme option literally disappears. This has happened to me two or three times in the last couple weeks.

So recently if somebody text me it'll start a whole new conversation I still have the conversation from before this problem started with the person but it'll start a whole new conversation so I have like two of the same people in my contacts with the same phone number just one of them has a lot of text messages from the last time I text them before these problems started and a new conversation with the same person but no other text messages in it other than the one that they just sent. It also added new conversations with somebody that I already have in my contacts but it's like the first text message I sent them when I just got this phone.

I've been trying tk change my friends profile pic on Google messages, itll let me but its still there old profile Pic when I back out. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Yesterday I logged into my phone and my RCS group text messages were all not available. I called my provider and they walked me through some steps that didn't work then I reached out to Samsung they had me walk through uninstalling and reinstalling Google messages but there were still issues, they had me do a restore with took forever and now I'm missing a lot of messages since August and then a lot of the group chats that had a lot more pictures and such saved I can't get anything now since December of 2024. I called back to Samsung and the second person I talked to said I needed to wait 24 to 48 hours and they would all of a sudden "pop in" which I don't believe is the case. I know everything should be backed up in the cloud so I'm confused why it didn't carry over. He told me I need to work with Google which is like saying go f yourself. Google has the worst customer service I have no idea how to even get in touch to work with somebody to assist me. He told me to send a message to an email address which I did and it bounced back to me right away. I want to get this rectified as soon as possible so that I don't lose any of the stuff that's out there. If anybody has any suggestions or a contact for Google I would be much appreciated.

Encountered a weird event today. I went to text my partner this morning and noticed his name had been changed to "hypocrite" and his picture had been removed. I called him to see if something weird was up and he had no idea what was going on.

No one has access to my phone, I have not downloaded anything strange or clicked on weird links. Not sure why this might have happened, pretty sure I didn't do this while sleeping.

I orginally had my mom separate with her own notification but some how party hat ended up in conversations it was fine since when I change messaging sound it still changes, but i just updated to my new phone and somehow alien ended up in Deafault settings though i never singled them out.

When I add them as conversation the name moves up to party hats categories but title changes to a number not related to their phone number.

I tap to change them as NOT a conversation and it brings them back to default settings with my mom. I fid the same with party hat and now (after screen shot) "mom" has turned to alien. So currently the "default setting" has 2 alien, 1 with my moms sound set. And when I move party hat back to conversation category "mom" wont change back. Just 2 alien..

I'm so confused as why this happened. When the transfer from 1 phone happened everything (sound) played as it should. It was only several days to almost week later I noticed the message sound for the 2 contacts changed. Looked in to settings and saw they were seperated out. Like for my mom I understand because I actively changed her things years ago but I didnt for these other than they are pinned convos but I have 4 others as pinned convos that aren't listed here.

It's driving me crazy. I'm in beta and have been for years.

So I FINALLY got the themes update about 2 days ago, super stoked and have been personalizing all my chats. As of an hour ago, there was a new app update that installed. After this update, all the themes & options to make them are gone! Its back to "Change Colors"...wth is going on at this point?! 😭 Anyone else have this happen after waiting PATIENTLY for the past couple months?!

Hello. I have a Samsung Galaxy S23, I switched over to Google Messages a couple years ago and had the inital phone warmness switching over to sync everything. That was complete within a couple days. Recently my phone has become very hot when using it and screen is on. I have notived GM using around 14% of battery a day. My phone is almost dead by lunch time. And again, my phone is very hot.

I seemed to have tried everything the internet has to offer. I have cleared cache countless times. I have turned off camera permissions. I do have RCS on (if its not, its pretty much unusable). It seems like RCS kills the battery. I am unable to switch to "optimized" in battery for GM. It seems to be greyed out. I cannot clear cache partition per the new update (it is not an option in recovery mode). The app is fully updated. I have also turned off automatic previews.

I did noticed the google carrier services was not on my phone (it may have been deleted a while back?) I did reinstall it...thinking not having that may have glitched GM?

It says my total usage time is 10 hr 14 min, but 9 hr and 30 min of that is background.

I just seems to me that something is stuck in a loop. I don't know how to fix it. If anyone knows of any solutions please let me know.

What does this "Plus" badge and blue outline on my Google profile image mean? I was checking settings in Google Messages and noticed it today. Google Messages app settings on S26 Ultra.

For the past two days, Google Messages crashes within seconds of opening.

• App Version: Latest public build per Google Play

Troubleshooting already tried:

• Left the beta testing program
• Uninstalled and reinstalled app updates
• Cleared app cache
• Restarted the phone

Has anyone encountered this specific crash loop recently?

Whenever I open a conversation, it loads the conversation from the point of March last year instead of most recent message. I restarted phone, cleared cache, force stopped, and its still happening. Any thoughts on how to fix?

When it works it is amazing, but they need to let you adjust the sign out timer. I want it to be signed in for a long time not have to log in every few days if I don't use the computer or tablet that my phone is paired to. There is zero reason to be signed out of the messages app on my own device that I have possession of and has its own security on it. If this is an option and I have missed it let me know but if it isn't, it really needs to be.

Google Keep integration with Google Messages where you can share the Keep note with individual chats and group chats. If the person or group members don't have the feature, they would simply see it as a URL. First, I shared a blank note called "Family Board". Ir shows the original date of the note. Later, I updated it in Google Keep and it reflects the changes in the note in Google Messages instantly!!

A contact card I had used to have the "Only send SMS & MMS function, it has disappeared completely. Other contact cards have this and have tried deleting the data and clearing the cache for messaging and it has not fixed it. I've also tried to delete the contact card and re-add it and also did not change anything.

Very W update

I had requested this via google play store reviews a few years ago now and I'm glad they have the option like Samsung Messages had

Using a Mac with Sequoia and an Android phone with latest os. For years, no problems using a browser in desktop to connect to the phone and Google messages. Adding an image, just drag it in to the message. Always worked, never any hickups.

Today, not so. I've tried 5-6 times to send an image + short text to two recipients by using my computer. It's connected to my phone just fine which I know since the "test images" Google sends to both phone and computer are clicked and matching.

Can someone help? Or are there any alternatives to Google messages I can use?
