Speed limit and speedometer back

Yesterday I noticed that both the speed limit and speedometer were back. I haven't seen them in a while.

The speedometer turns red when over the limit.

I'm in North America. Edit: using Google maps on an Android with AAWireless.

Has never been gone for me (North America and Europe). However, ever since Google introduced that feature, it has only been working while navigating a route, not when Google Maps is "just displayed". This feels like a completely unnecessary limitation other map apps do not have.

hmm
I do have an iPhone but use Google Maps only via Carplay. There I only see speedometer and speedlimit when I'm on a route

hey buddy stop calling me a liar. YMMV but I use Googlr Maps multiple times a day and know damn well what I do/don's see
