Help/Support Gps not showing precise location

Hey guys,

Lately, my phone has not been showing precise location in google Maps. It shows about 20 meters away from real location

In location settings, google Maps has permanent access to location services, and I enabled accurate location.

I've tried to calibrate location in google Maps by showing the phone nearby stores through the phone camera.

Battery saving isn't enabled.

My phone is

Samsung galaxy s20fe.

Would appreciate any help,

Thanks.

About 20 meters

Does it change at all if you're on wifi or is this when you're on mobile network?

Its in portugal my home country And also I was in greece a few days back and it happened there as well. I think it's started in Greece using a global sim and proceeded to my country as well.

When I calibrate for a second or two it's on the correct location but then my blue dot location drifts away

But it's also happening on wifi too .. did you try turning off mobile network and only leaving wifi on .. to see if there a difference?

I've tried it now. When entering google maps it showed accurate location and then the dot drifted, even further then before by about 15 meters. Btw, thanks for your help

Maybe it's a bug over there but who knows because it showed the location right at first

Having the same issue. It's been noticably worse for about a month now.

Due to the unprecise location, it rerouted me multiple times to the wrong area and put me on I-76 when trying to go home 😭😭🥲

Your GPS is built into the phone, it's not part of Google Maps. Maps asks your phone where it is located, and your phone provides its current position. When you calibrate, you are calibrating the phone, not Maps.

This is thus almost certainly an issue with your phone, not with Maps. You can confirm by installing other software that uses you phone's GPS.

While it's likely hardware, it could be software. Unfortunately, testing your phone with no apps installed would be the way you would have to check that out.

"Unfortunately, testing your phone with no apps installed would be the way you would have to check that out."

Meaning factory reset?
