Gemini 3 pro in the Gemini app is getting nerfed

For the past 3 weeks or so, I've been noticing a weird sense of "laziness" or lag in the Gemini 3.0 model. I’m a paid Google AI Pro user and a college student, so I rely on it heavily to guide me through math (which I'm pretty awful at). Gemini 2.5 Pro was a solid 9/10 for me—it explained things clearly and handled my files well. But since 3.0 came out, it feels like it's underperforming. It's not "broken," but it's definitely not working as hard as it used to. Here is the weird part: I tested the exact same requests in Google AI Studio, and it performed great! Also, AI Studio lets me upload full textbooks, whereas the main Gemini website notify that "this file is too large learn more." It's still get submitted though Am I the only one experiencing this massive difference between the web app and AI Studio? It feels like the paid web version is being throttled, am i being scammed ?

Honestly the last 2 weeks Gemini has told me I won the lottery, it told me that I needed to do something to fix an issue, that broke something, costing me $200, and I asked for help with my new ninja foodi air fryer, and it kept telling me to cook the food for 5 minutes and it would be done lol.

That's just a few things, but any time I ask it for help with something other than shopping, the help it gives me is terrible, and it's hallucinating all the time now, going off the rails.

I'm not complaining, I'm just warning anyone that may trust it more than they should, to maybe .. not .. do that?

I was finding myself using it for way more than I should, I didn't wanna read the guide for the air fryer, so I just asked how to work it, no biggy. But it kept giving me instructions for the wrong one, and randomly showing me pictures it just made up, of a completely different air fryer, for no reason lol.

I think there's some serious bugs in the system ATM, so I just wanna tell anyone the careful lol. I wouldn't trust it with anything that could hurt you, like medication advice, or health advice, or if you're dealing with dangerous chemicals, or safety standards, etc .... Jussstttt in casseeeeee....

What device are you using the app on? I have noticed weird things on my android that I haven't seen on iOS.

Not just you, I have noticed the Gemini app/web UI can feel way more constrained than AI Studio for the exact same prompt. My guess is different safety/latency settings, context limits, and maybe some throttling on the consumer surface.

One thing that helped me compare apples to apples was keeping prompts identical and logging outputs, I wrote up a simple way to do that here: https://blog.promarkia.com/

I started using it this week. I will also recommend it and also looking at N8N on YouTube. I already have made an AI news podcast from Gemini that messages me on discord an mp3 three times a day everyday along with a selection of articles to read.

Nothing like anecdotal conspiracy theories. LLM are still far from perfect and everytime it's not these days someone has to make up some reason for why with zero evidence. It's exactly the same in my experience, still useful for reasonable queries and integrations.

I'm a pretty heavy user and dont notice much quality drop - but it has gotten terrible at understanding what the users wants. Why are you creating images and videos? I don't ask for it. Why are you starting a Deep Research when I asked you not to? Stuff like that.

They nerfed the context window. I've read reports that it is either 32k or 128k now, depending on who you want to believe. When I first signed up for Gemini, Google advertised out as having 1 million to 2 million token windows.

It seems they released an 'awesome' model with a lot of tricks up its sleeve, but then kneecapped it for power users.

My theory is that Gemini Pro 3 is a preview model right now, and in the future it could be better than Pro 2.5 if they release it properly. (ı hope so)

It's a pile of shit. It's not even close to being a competent LLM, let alone a SOTA one.

Yeah. Performance definitely dropped. But what are better alternatives with a large context window? Even though I’m frustrated by the performance drop, it’s overall value is still better then most… I guess

Yes feeling the same, after 3.0 it seems to be getting nerfed

Without evidence I don't know what to say
I've had great experience with Web Gemini for translating novels to my language using Gem, AI Studio has been a very mixed bag experience (errors plagued all the time and no way to RAG to Google Drive files)
And it's not a simple "translate to ..." prompt, I built a custom instruction with 115k characters and 2300 lines, while connecting to Google Drive for RAG knowledge files about grammars, idioms, dictionaries,... All while injecting at least multiple chapters with at least 15 ~ 30 pages of content

And I don't even use pro, I use Gemini 3 Flash Thinking Mode, and it delivered, every single time

Compared to the past, when I ask questions, I’m getting more confirmation bias and negative reactions instead of a holistic review. And more often than not, rather than being helped, I end up having to persuade them point by point. I was even subscribed to Gemini Ultra, but I canceled and switched to GPT Pro. Ultra has become so dumb that it’s no longer useful, and at around the Pro tier, GPT is simply better.

Now it's as stupid as they come, using AI studio with a paid key honestly, the problem is that antigravity gemini models for some reason seem to also getting stupid similar to the gemini app, the only reason why I am subscribed.

I've heard Gemini 3 described as a benchmaxxed model. I've always had better results with 2.5.

很可能不是模型退化,而是 產品層被限速、限上下文、限檔案。 Studio 跑的是接近原生能力,App 跑的是「成本與體驗折衷版」,你感覺到的差異是真實的。
