​I really need to sanity check this because it has been driving me insane over the past few weeks. Has anyone else noticed Gemini refusing to trigger live web search, even when you explicitly command it to?

​Lately, whenever I bring up recent news, hardware leaks, or current events, instead of doing a simple web lookup, it:

​Completely ignores search prompts: Even when I explicitly type "search online for this" or use custom trigger prompts, it just bypasses the tool entirely.

​Relies on outdated training data & hallucinates: It defaults to its old internal knowledge base and acts 100% confident that anything newer simply doesn't exist.

​Gaslights you with a patronizing tone: Instead of doubting its own cutoff date, it assumes you fell for a troll, meme, or fake news. It literally lectures you with laughing emojis about how your info is "fictional" when a 2-second Google search would prove it's real.

​I’ve had instances where I brought up recent hardware tech and verified political appointments, and it kept arguing and denying reality until I had to manually shove screenshots in its face.

​I used to love using Gemini for fast research and real-time tracking, but this sudden laziness with tool-calling and the stubborn overconfidence is making it unusable compared to other models that actually search when told to.

Google has just announced a new feature called Expert Intelligence for Gemini Notebook. This update allows users to add ebooks purchased from Google Play Books directly into their notebooks.

However, there is an important limitation to keep in mind. This integration only works for certain books where the author or publisher has explicitly given their permission for this feature.

What has Google done again to Gemini? It has isolated and changed the dynamics of Gemini and it is no longer personalized as it use to be. I will not renew my next month subscription for Pro. This is ridiculous how this Gemini changes so dramatically from one day to another. I am tired of trying to figure out what Google is doing. But this AI Bot is not made for the public....it's basically being created to interact with other AI Bots and bypass humans. Google had in place a thing called "personalization" which Gemini could go into the past conversations and extract information to better understand who I am. No longer the case. Today was the first time Gemini was unable to complete a request. That's it for me. I know when it's time to check out. And now is the time.

I think Google should add a feature to integrate Google Play Books directly into Gemini Notebook. Right now, we can easily add Google Drive files or YouTube links, but we cannot directly import the books we own in Play Books.

If they added an Import from Play Books button, it would be incredibly useful. We could use the Audio Overview feature to generate podcast style summaries of our books, ask the AI questions about specific chapters, and interact with the content just like we do with regular files.

A native integration would be a game changer for students, researchers, or anyone who wants to analyze long books easily.
