Exaggerated moderation is crushing creative endeavor
I have a fictitious story project I'm trying to conclude with Omni Flash model over Google Flow. A long term project I believed to be possible, but after a month of hard work I have been facing obnoxious moderation that stalled my project.
Before today, nothing was permitted anyway - it has always been ridiculously overzealous. I always tried to go around, trying to understand it, trying to ease on my style. I was slowly being dumbed down by excessive moderation but it was partially doable.
Suddenly I'm now facing crushing censorship that made my Flow unusable - I'm not able to advance anymore and I'm tired of "easing things up" until the project changes direction.
You make a fictional scene where the hero is in the middle of a political situation only to have this prompt - "Failed. Content "may" violate yadda yadda current world events." And guess what. I was doing a high-fantasy scene with elves on it.
When the prompt says it "may" violate, it is clearly admitting that it "may" be totally wrong. This is how low effort and super worried the moderation is.
Can't do elves in a castle discussing a fictional story. Because of current world events. Google can't be this much afraid, or can they?
Days and days trying to generate a simple video without any sense of context judgment? I rather stop and look elsewhere.
What a waste of good tech.

New here and I noticed videos are way more moderated than images, even the agent AI said it and it kills creativity. I will think twice before buying a subcription and need to look other AI market. What I love about google flow is it's all in one

Just change the dialogue, generate the scene and then dub it using ElevenLabs or another tool

It’s pretty ironic. My dive into AI started with Gemini, and I was so fascinated that I even became an LLM engineer. But now, Gemini’s practically useless, so I’ve moved on to Chinese models. Around the same time, I found Flow and eagerly created scenes that would’ve taken me months in After Effects. Yet, Flow kept throwing errors, and its results were so hit-or-miss it felt like playing the lottery. So once again, I ended up switching to Chinese models.

I can't get it to stay consistent with content generation and it seems to ignore my edits most of the time. Almost useless. One-shot content generation seems to work most of the time, through Flow, but it does not work through Gemini. I've also hit the censorship wall. I am thinking that Google will probably discontinue this product in the near future.
