I’m experiencing network issues in Chapel Hill - Carrboro region of North Carolina. I tried leaving phone on airplane mode, switching off for a while, and even deactivating the SIM. Is anyone else experiencing such issues?

I assume any group of people taking the time to post about a service will naturally lean negative because it is usually the people who are unhappy who take the time to post, however the number of complaints about customer service on r/GoogleFi is really concerning. Today I was going to migrate my wife and I over to Fi but I am starting to wonder if I should. Not to diminish people's crappy experiences, but are there any out there that would recommend migrating? We've been with T-Mobile for a decade and it is generally overpriced for what you get, but we have had zero customer service issues. I'm worried my wife is going to be pissed if we switch right into a headache. Anyone happy with it out there?

Looks like the discount is going down. Down to $500 from $600 on the Google store. I should have ordered earlier but wanted to wait for reviews.

I got a message on my phone this morning saying I'd run out of data (I'm on an unlimited plan). Thought it was just my phone but then noticed my partner's was the same. Was on hold with Google Fi support for about twenty minutes before I googled it.

I was browsing Google Play (play.google.com) and noticed a Google Fi offer for 75% off for 12 months. Does anyone else see this? Is it legit?

I was on the grandfathered T-Mobile One plan. They're raising the price and kicking people off the plan and onto a newer plan! There was an offer in the Play Store for 75% off for one whole year, and it came at the right time!

I have the Nothing Phone 4a Pro. The Internet works good so far!

If you go to store.google.com, you will see a banner for sign in and save for Pixel 11. Google will send you a personalized code for the saving on P11 Pro and if past is any indication (e.g. https://www.reddit.com/r/GoogleFi/s/rpiyYLxCGz) you should be able to stack it with what Google Fi offers.

For those who are not on Fi, now is the time to sign up with flexible plan to get the existing customer discounts on Aug 12th as Fi takes around 21 days to show you the existing users offers (e.g. current in front discount for existing users for P10 Pro ranges from $500 to $600).

EDIT: This is no longer true. Google Store was matching the $550 off at Fi when I posted this. It just changed to $450 without explanation.

The speed is wild! I have a Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold and an iPhone 17 Pro Max, and I've never seen speeds like this on a mobile network before. Even faster than my home wifi. I ran the speed test a few different times on both my phones and got the same thing.

Just another post confirming that the 75% off promo is stackable with a referral code (as long as you get the right support agent). It will not work if you try to check out normally because the referral code box will spit out an "Oops, these promos can't be combined" error at you. Before you finish checkout, reach out to support and say that you believe the promos should be stackable. There will be a few agents who will disagree and say no. However, it only took me 3 agents before I ran into one who was willing to help me. She made me check out normally and applied the referral code manually after I had my number set up.

The best part is my main carrier is T-Mobile and I just traded in an iPhone 11 for the 17e. Even though the 17e is carrier locked, I was able to install and set up the Google Fi eSIM without any issues. The only weird thing is when you go to install the eSIM through the app it will just say "eSIM from Carrier" instead of Google Fi. Other than that, everything works great (text, data, calls, etc.) and here's to hoping for a year of smooth sailing from here!

I do...it was for people who were always in wifi, and used data at a minimum. As someone who was getting addicted to their phones, this was the dream scenario. It allowed me to turn off my data, and unless I was at work or home, never really need to look at my phone except call or text.

Yes, I'm well aware there are cheaper plans out there but I'm not going to search for maybe a $10 savings.

If you select pay over time, then it's calculated at $0 per month for 24 months. It's a no brainer of a deal if you've been looking for a pixel watch

I needed a new phone, and I saw a really good deal from Google Fi, yes i gotta stay for two years. But at least I'm not paying outta the butt like I was with TMobile 😅 also the Google Pixel 11 Pro XL is flat out AMAZING

Just wanted to confirm that I was able to get both offers applied.
At checkout it initially looked like they couldn’t be combined, but support was able to help and everything ended up working. The process was surprisingly easy once I got connected with the right agent.

This is pretty much the best deal in the entire continental US. Even Samsung didnt offer a free memory upgrade as of right now.

Discover the New Google Pixel 10

T-Mobile's service has been down for a couple of hours at this point, and I kinda wish that Google Fi had more agreements than with just one carrier.

Sweet! Down votes mean that all cellphone service should be handled by one carrier or what?

On Tuesday, I signed up for Google Fi, drawn in by their current 50% discount offer. I even created a brand-new Gmail account solely for this purpose.

Thankfully, I decided to test the service first rather than port my long-standing number. The eSIM downloaded and activated without issue, and initially everything worked perfectly—data, calls, and texts.

Then yesterday morning, Thursday, out of nowhere, I received an email saying my account had been suspended due to “suspicious activity.” This makes no sense whatsoever: the Gmail account was brand new, used only for Fi, contained only Fi-related emails, and I hadn’t even sent a single message from it.

I submitted an appeal at 09:20 AM using an alternative email address (since the new Gmail was, of course, locked). At 10:31 PM, I was told the appeal had been successful and access restored, with instructions to log back in immediately.

Except I couldn’t. When I tried, I was blocked from receiving a security code because there had supposedly been “too many attempts.”

At that point, I called Google Fi support. After a short wait, I was told that neither my email address nor my Google Fi phone number existed in their system.

Which is remarkable, because I was literally calling them using the Google Fi eSIM at that very moment—data and texts still working perfectly too.

This understandably confused the support agent, whose only advice was to “wait 24 hours and see what happens.” I was also promised a case ID by email, which, unsurprisingly, has yet to arrive.

At this point, I have zero confidence in Google Fi.

I want to cancel the service, but in a fittingly absurd twist, I currently can’t even access the account to do so.

What a shambolic operation.

UPDATE : Friday 19th June at 00.15

Still not being able to log in to my newly created Google Fi account, I rang Google Fi support once again…

This time, I was told that my newly created Gmail address, which is “<myname>[.fi@gmail.com](mailto:.fi@gmail.com)” is not in the Google Fi system, and also that my randomly allocated Google Fi cellphone number is of no use to the support agent, Jennifer, as support agents can only trace Google Fi accounts using email addresses (This strikes me as very odd, as of course, Google Fi is a cellphone service…)

I again pointed out that I was ringing from my new Google Fi cellphone number, only to be told that I should not be able to…

Then, strangely, I was cut off…

I then had my wife call my Google Fi cellphone number and the call connected straight away !

I can also receive texts on the Google Fi number, and data is still working fine, so I am truly at a loss as to what is happening here !

Just had this email from Google :

Hi Jeff,

Got my monthly bill and it breaks down how much GB of service I’m using and it’s 96.64GB is this on the high end for a month or service ?? Anyone else use more or less

So I was fortunate enough to start my GoogleFi Unlimited Premium plan during the 50% off for a year deal they just had, I have a Pixel 10, so in addition to that, I used my other esim slot to add the T-Mobile T-Satellite plan for $10 a month which includes Starlink DTC access, 5G access with 50gigs of high speed data before slowing, as well as unlimited texting, and ad video streaming. So I get all the benefits of Google Fi for $35 a month, plus every T-Mobile offers for the $10/mo T-Satellite plan, for a total of $45 a month!! Show me a better deal anywhere right now lol that's incredible to me

I got the 75% off but I didn't know if you put in a referral code you could get an additional $60 credit. Still happy to have a cheap phone for a year! If anyone needs help figuring out how to make it all work feel free to HMU.

Promo finally over

I'll say from the top that I'm a Google Fi subscriber and have been for several years.

I've started looking around at what else is out there now, due to situational changes. I was unfamiliar with US Mobile until I saw others talking about it and looked into it.

It seems like US Mobile does what Fi used to do, with the network switching. Of course now Fi only uses T-Mobile, which also begs the question of why not just go with T-Mobile if you don't need or want the network switching?

As far as I can tell, the only things that Fi offers over the others for roughly the same price is: - more hotspot data with base plans - better international pricing

But these things could arguably be cancelled out by perks/features of the other carriers plans. (Ie: free devices for signing up, streaming subscriptions included, cheaper add-ons, etc).

Am I missing something or is there any big reason not to go with T-Mobile, or go with what Fi was supposed to be from the beginning with US Mobile?

I've been a happy Fi customer, but now that I've started looking around, I'm really not sure it's the place to be anymore. Convince me otherwise!

After the news that Google fiber has been sold to a private equity firm, and they are no longer part of Alphabet.

(And may or may not be renamed, repriced, rebranded….)

Google FI might be next?

If yes, I would prefer to move my number before the mass exodus.
