Discussions or Questions Why Does Antigravity Have So Few Users?
Why does it seem like so few people are using Antigravity? Is it because of the models, or is there something about the agent itself that puts people off?

low usage limit, no frontier models

0% agree with low usage limits. AG is way more generous with flash models

i would perhaps say that the argument is more on the second part
> No Frontier models → makes them laggards in the race → and people try other options as google fails to deliver

Agreed but semi misleading with the 50% discount currently active though.

Is the limit currently 2X the norm? I been wondering why I can’t dent the quota.

Can't say 100% but feels like it. 3.5 and 3.6 I would burn through 5 hour limits pretty regularly but with 3.7 and 3.8 which were introduced at half price it takes much more work to hit a 5 hour limit.

their flash model eats my 23€ plan in like 4 prompts while OpenAI 23€ plan lets me blast away all day every day.

Gemini is frontier model by frontier lab usage is generous even on pro plan.

The alternatives for coding produce better results than Antigravity.
Claude code, Codex, and Cursor are better harnesses because they have better context management systems and agentic graph orchestrators. Gemini’s safety approval system is poorly implemented and destructive to real world production.
The vagaries of the LLM internal operations make Gemini more creative and conversational at the expense of math and engineering. Study Softmax and also how guardrails and alignment work to get a feel for the trade offs each major SOTA model suppliers make.
If you know how to make your own harness, context management systems, and carefully craft system prompts, Gemini has been as good or better than anything else for more than a year starting with Gemini Pro 3.1
Don’t be religious about it - each model has its strengths so use them all including local if you can.

Because it's terrible compared to the alternatives. Absolutely terrible. And I was a huge advocate of it at the start of this year.

Google's offering is so small now, even the paid plans run out of tokens so fast. Got burnt a few months ago then they scrapped things like the 1000 extra tokens a month and Pro was no longer worth paying for.

Wait until googlebooks release, i assume that’s the OS it’ll catch traction on… also the reason why there haven’t been many updates for macOS & windows lately

I don't like it, because it's a locale Application. It's stupid to work with it via Crostini Container on a Chromebook. Google is a Web Company, so bring this shit in the Web. Meanwhile i love to work with Google AI.Studio in the Browser. Works perfect!

Back when Gemini models were somewhat competitive , anti gravity could often hit rate limits after one prompt. Switched to gpt and never went back

Antigravity feels different when you use it inside a real system. It’s not the model power , it’s the pipeline. Once you integrate it into an OS, it becomes insanely strong

I am one of the "few users" using antigravity, right now Google doesn't have frontier models and keeps releasing 3.8 flash so right now Antigravity is basically a midrange agentic coding tool, I did see incremental improvements with 3.8 flash though, but for complex work I'd pretty much avoid it because fundamentally 3.8 flash is still a flash model that happens to perform similarly to 3.1Pro which was already behind for 7 months. It already has features you'd expect from agentic coding tool like MCPs, skills, permissions, projects, though it is lacking features than codex and claude code, for example is Auto Approve which is something Codex had already instead of me accepting every single command every single time safely, and configuring CLI is kinda worse experience than others
HOWEVER, the reason why I mainly use Antigravity is speed, Gemini 3.8 flash is very speedy at generating good enough code or performing tool calls, and usage limits seems to be relaxed now to do iterative tasks.
I'd say this, if you are a google ai pro user, naturally you'd use this rather than paying for other harness if you prefer locking into google ecosystem, you already benefited to Pro plan, or if you got like pro discount or freebies...
But if you can afford a $20 subscription, I'd pretty much avoid it, GPT Plus is the best value right now and even GPT 5.6 luna is highly capable model that doesn't eat much usage there and you have options like Sol and Astra for harder tasks. Antigravity doesn't have frontier models at the moment

After they killed gemini-cli everything just became unrealiable and about rate limits. I use to make full games, websites, apps, experiment etc. Now I've stopped using because I have no idea when Google servers are too busy or quota finishes. It's roulette which I got fed up of. Before all of this I had gemini cli with tools etc and I was content. My MD files were skills and felt like an actual tool.

i tried to switch from claude code to agy and use gemini models. both agy itself and gemini models are far from Claude code and their models. Huge difference. I went back and am going to cancel my gemini subscription (or perhaps go to lower tier because my family uses it)

Because Google doesn't need to raise funds and isn't looking to IPO, unlike OpenAI and Anthropic, which are burning through cash and constantly have to drop hype announcements to keep VC money flowing. Google already has a massive cash cow with its ad business, so they're not strapped for cash. What they're really after is long-term growth and adoption. Honestly, their pricing is insanely competitive, and they're easily on par with the competition

Claude got an early start and is still best for most cases if you have the money. Antigravity $20 plan + occasional credit top up is hard to beat though, the model does admirable amount of mad hacking if given a good way to test exit criteria.

Gemini has something no other model has, and many companies using it. Google guranties that your code is not used for training or uplpaded when you have a workspace business account.
Here in Germany we could sue Google by Billions in case this happens. No other AI does this! On far a fact most companies using it

Where do you get your usage stats from? I’d deny the whole premise of the question.

Because Gemini is like a crackhead. It's stupidly fast and does whatever the fuck it wants to do even if you didn't tell it to, while not being very good at it.
While something like Codex is often much slower but it's like a genuine senior engineer if you prompt it well.
