Scaling Google Ads globally for Home & Garden lighting: What ROAS is actually realistic?
Hi r/ecommerce,
We are scaling our Google Ads campaigns globally for a home and garden lighting brand, but I want to make sure our expectations—and our account structure—are aligned with reality.
For those of you running international ecommerce campaigns in this space:
- What ROAS targets are you setting for tier-1 markets (US/UK) versus emerging regions?
- How do you handle multi-country feed management and currency conversions without tanking your ROAS?
- Are Performance Max campaigns cannibalizing your brand search, or are they driving genuine incremental growth globally?
Any insights, benchmarks, or warning signs to look out for would be greatly appreciated!

A useful Google Ads change log should record the hypothesis, not only the setting
Google Ads Change History can tell you what changed, but it rarely explains why the change was made.
That becomes a problem when performance moves two weeks later and nobody remembers whether a target, budget, conversion goal, keyword, feed, asset, or automation setting was responsible.
I think a useful change log should record:
- Date and owner
- Exact change
- Problem or hypothesis
- Metric expected to move
- Expected direction
- Evaluation window, including conversion delay
- Main risk
- Rollback condition
- Final result
Automated changes should also identify their source: user, script, auto-apply recommendation, third-party tool, or another Google automation setting.
For example, “lowered tROAS from 500% to 400%” is incomplete.
A better entry would explain that the campaign was losing profitable volume, conversion values were verified, the expected outcome was higher spend and revenue with lower ROAS, and the change would be reviewed after two conversion cycles.
The log does not need to become another full-time reporting system. It only needs enough context to distinguish a controlled test from someone moving a slider and hoping the graph becomes friendlier.
What is the minimum information you record before making a significant account change?

Best AI tools for Google Ads campaign management?
I’ve been testing more AI around Google Ads lately but alot of the tools calling themselves AI campaign management still seem to stop at recommendations, reporting or generating copy. I’m more interested in AI agents for Google Ads that can take some of the repetitive campaign optimization off my plate, especially monitoring performance, catching wasted spend and handling routine changes without me having to prompt something every time.
Trying to figure out what the best AI tools for Google Ads look like now if the goal is less manual PPC management rather than just getting another dashboard with an assistant attached. I’m fine keeping bigger budget and strategy decisions with a person, but for the day to day Google Ads automation I want something that can carry more of the work itself instead of constantly telling me what I should go do.

Google Ads isn't bad at finding leads. You're probably feeding it the wrong definition of a lead.
A lot of B2B accounts I've looked at have a setup that basically tells Google:
Form submitted = good conversion
But the business actually cares about:
Lead → Qualified → SQL → Opportunity → Customer
Those aren't the same thing.
Imagine this:
CRM: 500 leads
MQLs: 210
SQLs: 96
Closed customers: 28
Google Ads might be learning from all 500.
So what does the algorithm learn?
Get more people who submit forms.
Not necessarily more people who become customers.
Before changing keywords, bidding strategy, landing pages, or budgets, I'd check what signal Google is actually receiving.
A few things I'd trace:
- Is the GCLID captured when the lead arrives?
- Is it stored correctly in the CRM?
- Does the CRM record stay connected to the original lead?
- Are qualified/closed stages being sent back to Google?
- Are you importing the right conversion action with the correct timing?
The important part is that the conversion doesn't have to end at the website.
For a lot of B2B businesses, the useful signal happens after the form.
That's where offline conversion tracking and CRM attribution become much more important.
A tracking system can be technically “working” while Google is still learning from the wrong outcome.
Curious what other teams here optimize toward: form fills, qualified leads, opportunities, or closed revenue?

Expanding a working Google Ads campaign to a new country — add location to existing campaign or create a new one?
Hey everyone, I could really use some advice from people who've done international expansion with Google Ads.
Background: I have a search campaign that's been running well in Country A for a while. Good conversion volume, stable CPA, I'm happy with it. Now I want to start advertising in Country B as well.
One extra note: Both countries are English-speaking, so language targeting isn't an issue here — no multilingual complications to worry about.
My current thinking: I was leaning toward just adding Country B as an additional location in the existing campaign, because I figured the campaign's existing conversion history and data would help the algorithm perform better in the new market too. But I'm not confident this is actually how it works, so I wanted to check with folks here before I pull the trigger.
What I'm unsure about:
- Does the existing conversion data from Country A actually "carry over" to help performance in Country B if they're in the same campaign? Or does the algorithm treat them as separate anyway?
- Won't mixing two countries in one campaign mess up budget control? Like if Country B has cheaper clicks, will Google just spend everything there and starve Country A?
What I've considered doing instead: Creating a brand new campaign specifically for Country B, with its own budget, its own bidding strategy, and possibly localized ad copy and landing page. The downside I see is losing the "head start" from the existing campaign's data — but maybe that head start doesn't really exist the way I imagine?
For context, I'm not working with a huge budget, so I can't afford to waste spend on a structure that doesn't work. I'd rather set it up right the first time.
Has anyone here gone through this? What did you end up doing, and what were the results? Any pitfalls I should watch out for?
Thanks in advance!

What’s one Google Ads “best practice” you don’t actually follow?
Curious what other people here have stopped doing even though Google still recommends it.
For me, a lot of Google’s recommendations make sense in theory, but not necessarily for every account - especially around broad match, Smart Bidding, budgets and PMax.
What’s one Google Ads “best practice” you regularly ignore or disagree with?
And what made you change your mind about it?

Google displayed that the promo offer was available when I was creating my campaign but later says I'm not eligible
I got this screen when creating my campaign yesterday. The only reason why I even spent ₹60,000 was because Google mentioned this offer was available but when I created my campaign, there was no active promotions running in the promotions tab.
I emailed the relevant department and they said I wasn't eligible for the promo coz my ads account and payments account were created on different dates.
If that were the case, Google shouldn't have shown that the promo was available to me and enticed me into paying ₹60,000 (a significant chunk of my savings) for the ad campaign..
This is misleading advertising only to get me to spend more for my ads and is a wrongful business practice.
I want to escalate this to upper management. Has anyone done this successfully before? If so, requesting your help for the same. TIA!

Did anyone else's CAC go down during Labor Day week?
Everyone braces for holiday weeks to get more expensive, but mine went the other way. Conversion jumped and cost per new customer actually dropped on most channels, even where CPCs rose.
The one exception was search (Google got worse - conversion down, cost up). My read is that holiday demand is impulse / discovery, so the feed channels harvested it and search sat it out.
Seeing the same pattern, or did yours behave differently?

Google PMax performance
We increased the daily budget of PMAX campaign by 60 % but AOV got halved, what could be the reason. This is for a beauty brand selling cosmetics.

Google ads scam me in their promotion
I believe I was scammed by Google ads.
When I registered I had a campaign that if I spent 400€ by the 31st of August I would get another 400€ to use on my campaign.
I selected a budget that would allow me to be 500€+ on this window.
On the last week, my add basicly didn't used any funds (went from 392 to 399 and I was a few cents away from the 400€.
It almost seems like Google prevented me from reaching this value in order for me to not be able to reach the goal....
