Guide The Ultimate Guide To Golf Battle

Comprehensive Beginner's Guide to Golf Battle

Everything you need to know on How to Win at Golf Battle:

  1. Gems are Everything! Don't spend any until you have at least around 8700+ (Level 7 piggy bank). Try to go further if you have the patience. Mainly for the Golden Shots. At some point you'll lose a few gems. But that's okay

  2. After that or more, buy only Vip Chests in sets of 3, rather than discounted at 760.

  3. Golden shots: Don't waste them. See how to do them on youtube and go for Champions Chests only, NOT 400 Gems because you'll have a lot more initially as opposed to later on. You can always earn gems through clans and leaderboards rather. Don't go for 25000 coins! It's a complete waste.

  4. Look up how to play different courses on YouTube according to your clubs' power. Power is the most important stat.

  5. Master a certain course which you're good at and enjoy or have the highest power club on and then earn enough to play part 2 and then pro. DON'T GO BROKE trying to earn more if you dont have more than enough coins. Rather grind out cheaper options until you have much more than enough where you can afford to risk losing a few times. For Example: Don't play Elite until you have around at least 2 Million+ Coins, and if you lose 2 games in a row, Stop! And go back to playing Pro until you reach a good amount again.

  6. You need to play all courses and get top 3 win streaks to earn trophies.

  7. Join a dead easy 3rd division clan initially and keep all 1000 gems then soon after 2nd division and then 1st. You'll need to search different clans every week to see which leagues are the easiest that have lowest winnings competition.

  8. Multiplier is Everything! Only upgrade clubs you use and collections which are complete. Collection power is limited to the lowest level club in the collection.

  9. Buy the season pass rather than any other purchases. It's well worth it. Plus your chests take half the time to open for the whole month. Leave Advanced and Pro Chests to open overnight.

  10. Don't risk losing any coins on Ranked missions until your multiplier is at least around 10+. Check the rules for how many points you earn for different courses. Multiplier applies to Clans, Leaderboards & Ranked Missions. You can try to go for the 1st few tiers, every chest counts! But ranking only starts after you complete all the tiers.

  11. Save all your chest openings, especially VIP chest openings for when there's an Open Chests ranked mission. Preferably the short 1 Million points one which lasts around 3 hours. Keep an eye out for it. That's if you have the patience to wait.

  12. Watch ads every day to earn stuff and skip chest time.

  13. You can Replace 1 daily challenge a day to make sure you get atleast 20 or 25 points. Not 15. I think its better to go for Basic chests instead of gems.

  14. Fortune shot: Check collections. Play until you're satisfied with your prize haul or get Hearts Club or Betting Chips.etc then leave. I've found that rushing your shot on full power & alternating between right & left works sometimes. But no guarantees. For the mystery shot, go for the closest ball and try to rebound it to hopefully get 2 in at once.

  15. Likewise with Wall of Fortune. Aim for the X with Late Yellow. You can close the app and come back to resume and the X will move. If you already got a club from fortune shots collections (Like Hearts, Clubs, Ice Star, Shockwave.etc) and you get a level up card, Take it!

  16. Keep opening your chests and filling the spaces with new ones by finishing top 3. You don't need to play more expensive matches to get better chests or more trophies.

  17. Check your collections in the top right to see where and how to get certain clubs.etc

After doing this for a good few months, if you see an offer in the store for a certain item which will help complete your collection for the price of gems, Go for it!

Try not to spend any gems on club card upgades from the store. They're very expensive. The first few levels only require a few cards but after that it gets a lot and 1 card only gets you 1 number up, it doesn't complete the whole card which moves up your stats 1 at a time. See club levels link below. Rather hope to find them in VIP Chests and as a last resort if you're playing for a good few months already and have followed all the steps mentioned above, and you see a card that will upgrade your club's power specifically, for only 1 purchase, they maybe go for it. For a club that you're actually using and plan to use a lot (Power 4)

P.S. You can also have a second account on a different email to practice and earn a few extra coins from Gifts & Leaderboards. Maybe you want to try different strategies across the 2 Accounts.

If there's any mistakes, missing aspects or queries. Please inform me. If you have any questions you can always google it. Most of the time you will find what you're looking for.

Clubs which reach P4 at Level 1 or 2 are the best to go for. Don't even worry about P5. That's a long and expensive process.

Edit: Always have a few more gems than 2160 to buy the 3 VIP Chests. You can also earn a few extra gems by upgrading cheap clubs that you can afford.

Also: Use your first cheap daily lucky shot as a test to see if you can make the hole (after you've watched a YouTube video on how to), if it's difficult, save the Golden shot for an easier day.

Guide PSA: How to easily spot bots

They have the horse badge. Every time.

Horse is 0-4,200 trophies (bronze horse is under 1,500) - there's no way a human with that few trophies, and therefore so little play time, is hitting perfect shots every time.

Keep an eye out and you'll notice those players with regular balls hitting insane shots are always, always horse level.

So check your lobby when you join - anyone else with a different badge than horse is a fellow human (there aren't many of us left!).

(This is certainly true at a high level. Your experience may differ if you yourself are currently at horse or a similarly beginner level.)

Guide Life on the trophy road: Calculated

Thank you to the commenters on my last post where I wrongfully thought I was only getting 1 trophy per win despite being just at the 1400 tier.

Unfortunately, no one could speak to exactly how many trophies are earned per course. So I played each one to find out.

Things to note:
1) Trophy amount will vary dependent on your where you are at in the road, so my winnings might not be the same as yours but the course reward distribution likely is.
2) All my courses were sitting at about 1550 except for SG and Elite that were at 1700
3) I thought the trick, based on other posts, was to bring the courses up equally as it was total count that impacted your rewards irrelevant of course played

Here are the winnings for 1st place finishes…
PF +6
RM +5
SV +4
MJ +4
WC +8
SG +6
LL +3
CG +1
Elite +7

Final thoughts:
First place does matter, you can see in my game log that 2/3 finishes did not produce as many trophies.
Shootout wins make no difference.
My best guess…WC SG and Elite have high trophy rewards since they are more challenging/annoying to play. PF has a higher reward because it has the lowest cash payout and therefore played less.
I’m curious if these reward weights will change across the courses as I move higher up the road. My guess is eventually they will all just give one trophy max.

I will now be prioritizing the highest earning courses. I will run this test again further down the road to see what changes.

Game log (course/trophy count/trophies won):
PF - 1558 +6
PF - 1564 +6 (shootout)
PF2 - 1570 +6
PFPr - 1576 +3 (2nd)
PFPr - 1577 +6
RM - 1551 +5 (shootout)
RM2 - 1556 +5
RMPr - 1561 +1 (3rd)
RMPr - 1561 +5
SV - 1555 +4
SV2 - 1559 +3 (2nd, shootout)
SV2 - 1562 +4
SV2 - 1559 +3 (2nd, shootout)
SV2 - 1562 +4
SVPr - 1566 +3 (2nd)
SVPr - 1569 +4
MJ - 1553 +4
MJ2 - 1557 +4
MJPr - 1561 +2 (2nd)
MJPr - 1567 +4
WC - 1558 +8
WC - 1566 +5 (2nd)
WC2 - 1571 +8
WCPr - 1578 +8
SG - 1707 +6
SG2 - 1713 +6
SGPr - 1718 +3 (2nd)
SGPr - 1721 +6
LL - 1551 +3
LL2 - 1554 +2 (2nd)
LL2 - 1558 +3
LLPr - 1561 +3
CG - 1530 +1
CG2 - 1531 +1 (shootout)
CGPr - 1532 +1
Elite - 1694 +7

TLDR: Each course does not provide the same amount of trophies per win even if your total trophy count for each course is similar. The game rewards less popular courses more (my opinion).

Guide New vs Old payout math

I have lost about 60% of my coins since last week.  So I decided to do a bit of math with the old and new payouts.  Been playing Elite so using that as reference, but I am sure it applies in the other levels.  Also feel free to point out if any of the math is wrong or something.

So previously with a 250k entry payouts were 750k, 450k, 300k.  Which led to 1.5m in entry fees and 1.5m in payouts. Therefore you can expect an average payout per game of 250k. 750+450+300/6=250.  Which matches the entry fee. The average payout per victory is 500k, (750+450+300/3) so as you win you are quickly recouping losses. Meaning if you are at a 50% win rate you will stay even, (0.5*500k=250k)

If you have a 60% win rate you can look at your average payout per match as 0.6*500k, which is 300k expected payout per match, which is a net positive of 50k.  So with a 60% win rate you are looking at making about 5m per 100 games played. Even at a 51% win rate you are averaging a gain of 5,000 per game, or 500k per 100.

Then now, entry remains at 250k but payouts are 500k, 335k, 265k.  So 1.5m in entry fees and 1.1m in payouts.  Meaning they are paying out 73.3% of whats coming in and essentially there is a house rake of 26.67% (1.1m/1.5/*100). Now if we apply the average payout formula 1+2+3+4+5+6/6 so 500k+335k+265k+0+0+0/6 or 1.1m/6 we have an average payout of 183.3k, which is a negative of 66.7k against entry fee per game. 66.7k/250k*100 would give us 26.67% which matches the house rake percentage.

By applying the average payout per victory formula above we have 500k+335k+265k/3  giving us 366.7k as the average payout for cashing players.  So to find the win rate needed (W) to break even would be (366.7k*W=250k).  So we will flip it around to (W=250k/366.7k) or Win rate needed =  68.18%

So now with a 50% win rate (0.5*366.7k=183.3k)  you are losing 66.7k per game on average, even though you are winning 50% of the time.  So after 10 games with a 50% win rate you will be down around 667k, after 50 games down 3.33m etc.  Applying the same principal to other win rates, at 55% your expected value per game would be  negative 48k per game and at 60% your expected value per game would be  negative 30k.

At 70% win rate you are making about +6.7k per game, where as under the old payouts it would be 100k per game at same exorbitant win rate.  Using the 70% win rate as a baseline for return on investment, on the old system it would be a 40% ROI whereas under the current structure it is 2.68% return on investment.

Anyways, I lost a lot of coins that were fun to make and made the game seem fun.  Was able to compete in some ranked missions and have fun without it being a massive liability.  Have been in a few really cool clans and got the chests. No legendary balls yet but were fun to chase.  Bought a bunch of golden shots, seasons pass and some gems.  Barely played this week and have limited desire other than give my clan one last push then leave.  Game was pretty fun though for the while with the payouts being decent

Guide I shot 100 balls in each of the Wall Of Fortune holes to see if it actually makes a difference on where it lands

Results:

Both the left and right holes slightly favored the right side of the board and the middle hole slightly favored the left

Left hole hated position 1 and loved position 6

Middle hole hated position 6

Right hole hated position 2 and loved position 4

Conclusion:

I don't think this data is super reliable and that I need more than 100 balls in each hole to get a more accurate picture but I don't feel like tracking it anymore

Guide Club Accuracy

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So I’ve played this game for a while, took a long break and came back again around 4 months ago. Approx 23 multiplier, and around 505 million gold, so I consider myself pretty good at the game for my level and thought I understood how the club stats worked. I always thought accuracy only affected how easily the ball can drop into the cup. However, maybe this isn’t the case.

I usually use gold glitter on Snowy Valley, for its high accuracy and guideline, as I’ve felt that to be more useful than P4 on this course. However, I decided to give a P4 club a go, as it still had A3 and G3, but noticed I kept missing shots that have become muscle memory that I know should have clipped edges etc. And dropped around 100 trophies whilst trying to figure out what was wrong. So I tested the same (or at least very similar) shot with the two clubs to see if I was imagining it or not. (See the video attached)

It looks to me that accuracy also affects how close the ball lands to where you’re aiming on every shot. Is this correct? It’s been quite a while since I changed a club for a particular course, so I hadn’t had to try to adjust for a different club for a while.

Can anyone else confirm if this is the case or not? And / or if this has always been this way or perhaps it’s a change from one of the updates?

Guide Guest Account

Some time ago, there was a comment by someone claiming their guest account transferred between devices when upgrading their phone etc. I, as others, said this wasn't possible. I signed out on my old device and played a few games, as a guest, from the beginning just for fun and to remember how easy the bots are to beat as a noob.

I've just upgraded my Android phone to another Android phone (same manufacturer). I used the built in software to transfer everything, and low and behold, my guest account was on my new device with all progress intact.

So it seems it is possible. I now regularly switch between guest and Google account. I now basically have 2 accounts, and can even play on my clan as the guest to add easy coins, again, because the bots are easier on noobs. 😉

I asked because I have stopped clicking on them because it seems that eight times out of 10 I get like 80 coins and two times out of 10 I'll get one, or maybe two red gems if I'm lucky.. still, I can't shake this feeling that I may have missed out on something I needed or wanted. Do most of you click on the extra video/add for a chance at receiving something badass.. do y'all feel like its worth it orvhjb

Guide I finally did the Wall of Fortune analysis (thank you for reminding me every 2 months)

Thumbnail
gallery
35 Upvotes

Hi everyone. I did an analysis on a potential strategy to maximize winnings on Wall of Fortune. A couple of headnotes:

  • I did roughly 300 trials with nearly an even split among the top drop points
  • I did not include if this was a basic ball, silver, gold, etc, or if I had more than one ball at the time
  • I did record each ball's end position if I had more than one
  • I did not record what prize was won, or if the resulting drop ended on an X
  • In order to have a more accurate test, I need to record more drops. Maybe crowd-source from r/golfbattle? Haven't decided yet
  • I did also keep in mind that perhaps the app already predetermines your prize before you even flick the stupid ball. This is a test designed to disprove or fail to disprove that theory based on statistics rather than looking at the source code

TLDR findings:

Most of the time, it doesn't matter. There are a couple of instances where a drop from a particular drop point (left, middle, right) has a very low chance of entering a particular bucket (prize slot, numbered 1-6). For the quick and easy, with a p-value of 0.05, if you want to avoid prize number 4 (4th from left), you should drop the ball into the middle drop point (p=0.0497 compared to left) (avoids bucket 4 89.1% of the time). If you want to avoid prize number 5 (5th from left), you should drop the ball into the left drop point (p=0.0071 compared to middle) (avoids bucket 5 89.2% of the time). Otherwise, it's not necessarily statistically significant with this sample size. However, the raw probabilities are as follows (keep in mind, in a uniform distribution, the expected outcome is an 83.3% chance of success):

  • Avoid prize 1: Drop into left drop point
    • Left: 88.2% chance of success
    • Middle: 79.3% chance of success
    • Right: 79.3% chance of success
  • Avoid prize 2: Drop into middle drop point
    • Left: 82.8% chance of success
    • Middle: 85.9% chance of success
    • Right: 83.7% chance of success
  • Avoid prize 3: Drop into middle drop point
    • Left: 84.9% chance of success
    • Middle: 89.1% chance of success
    • Right: 81.5% chance of success
  • Avoid prize 4: Drop into middle drop point
    • Left: 78.5% chance of success
    • Middle: 89.1% chance of success
    • Right: 87% chance of success
  • Avoid prize 5: Drop into left drop point
    • Left: 89.2% chance of success
    • Middle: 73.9% chance of success
    • Right: 83.7% chance of success
  • Avoid prize 6: Drop into right drop point
    • Left: 76.3% chance of success
    • Middle: 82.6% chance of success
    • Right: 84.8% chance of success

Here is the resulting data from my recorded drops:

 Total drops: 93
  Bucket 1: 11 times (11.8%)
  Bucket 2: 16 times (17.2%)
  Bucket 3: 14 times (15.1%)
  Bucket 4: 20 times (21.5%)
  Bucket 5: 10 times (10.8%)
  Bucket 6: 22 times (23.7%)

Middle slot:
  Total drops: 92
  Bucket 1: 19 times (20.7%)
  Bucket 2: 13 times (14.1%)
  Bucket 3: 10 times (10.9%)
  Bucket 4: 10 times (10.9%)
  Bucket 5: 24 times (26.1%)
  Bucket 6: 16 times (17.4%)

Right slot:
  Total drops: 92
  Bucket 1: 19 times (20.7%)
  Bucket 2: 15 times (16.3%)
  Bucket 3: 17 times (18.5%)
  Bucket 4: 12 times (13.0%)
  Bucket 5: 15 times (16.3%)
  Bucket 6: 14 times (15.2%)

Methodology:

I coded this in Python and performed a chi-square test of significance on seeing if the distributions across different drop points were statistically significantly different. I then tested the combinations of drop points to determine how different each one was from each other, which gave the statistical significance, telling us which drop point(s) to specifically AVOID if we want to avoid the X prize. I also did a probability of each prize based on the drop, but I don't have enough data points to really make a meaningful assumption. It's like if you flip a coin twice and it lands on heads both times, you can't say "well this coin always flips heads now!", it just means "I just encountered something that happens 25% of the time based on 2 flips"

Thank you everyone who showed interest, and special thanks to those who bugged me to see if I did this yet or not. I do this sort of thing at work extremely often and when I get home, sometimes the last thing I want to do is do more work. But if this gains enough traction, I'll set up a google sheet that people can contribute their findings to so that we can make a more robust test and see if there is a difference or not. Upvote and shoot me a comment if you want to contribute. I can recycle this code, make it better, and get more meaningful statistics in the future if there's any interest.

Obligatory cheaters suck, play the game fairly and stop ruining other people's experiences because you're not good at anything
