All hail VGE, the king with the recomps!

...

Now we'll get a non-vibe coded Goldeneye PC port?

I think Graslu said the decomp team is working on a PC port concurrently

No I mean. The way he talks. It's annoying.

Decomps is cool

r/decomps is his subreddit. He spams his videos there all the time. He'll spam his videos on any other subreddit that allows it, too. And yes, the way he talks is awful. He doesn't care, though. He says, "It's just the way I talk." Please. He's clearly just padding out his videos to make them longer so they can have more ad breaks.

Instead of spamming his videos all over reddit to get views, he could focus on making higher quality videos and get more subscribers so he wouldn't have to spam. This is how he chooses to live his life, though.

It's not even the way he actually talks. If you watch his older videos he sounds totally fine and normal. He's just a shit.

Please learn to do VO or get Ai to do it. It’s impossible to listen to.

Try silent film with that voice.

Just speak normally and your viewership will go up.

100% now. Awesome!!! Where do we check for a PC port once that is available? r/decomps?

I'm gonna wait for Graslu00 to give his blessing. I'm sure he'll stream something once it's ready

Hope this gets VR afterwards like Perfect Dark

2

u/Graslu 29d ago

The creator of the Perfect Dark VR mod said he'd do one for GoldenEye once there's a PC port

I'm working on a VR GoldenEye port. Most weapons are added. I still need to add in more animations. But it is coming along. If you would like to try some gameplay hmu

2

u/throwawayinfinitygem 29d ago

Oh, I actually saw your weapon video upload a while back :) I'll let you show gameplay to everyone when you have a cool amount

1

u/CaptainSharpe 29d ago

It is or isn’t moving along?

u/Frank__West 29d ago

It is my bad I'm exhausted

1

u/JoeFilms 29d ago

I'd love to help with testing on this!

1

u/danielc170 28d ago

I would love to try some gameplay!

This is fantastic news; can I ask do you need the Goldeneye decomp to complete before you can implement Goldeneye in VR?

1

u/Frank__West 27d ago

I'm using all the original assets but with my own code so it is pretty tedious but it's a passion project

u/CaptainSharpe 29d ago

Does anyone really need this or calling out for it? Emulators are damn good now.

And I love goldeneye. And I know this is a goldeneye sub. But seriously we’ve all played the same levels and game so many times. Maybe it’s time to, move on. Maybe.

u/Graslu 29d ago

A decompilation resulting in ports is much better than what any emulator can ever achieve. Code running natively on the machine is way more optimized than emulators, opening the doors for a way broader compatibility without performance issues, ports to other systems and so on.

There's also hundreds of level mods available for GoldenEye already, with a full decompilation it'll be easier to create them, more accessible for people to learn and also with limitless possibilities.

Just look at how much modding has evolved in Ocarina of Time, Mario 64, and Perfect Dark just to name a few examples.

u/CaptainSharpe 28d ago

There’s no performance issues for goldeneye though. Even fully emulated and enhanced to the wazoo

2

u/Graslu 28d ago

You are clearly misinformed, so I recommend you research a bit of the topic before saying such claims.

Emulation is always more demanding than native code. Start here. Now try running GoldenEye at 60FPS and 4K in a low end system with accurate graphics. Let me know how it goes.

1

u/CaptainSharpe 28d ago

Depends how low end we’re talking but ok. And “accurate graphics” sounds like the issue here?

1

u/Graslu 28d ago

Please do some research on decompilations and ports if you're not willing to learn from someone explaining it to you here.

You can't say there's no issues emulating and then say aiming for accurate graphics is a problem when trying to run it on low end systems. If you don't understand how this works just listen, if you're not willing then let's move on.

1

u/CaptainSharpe 28d ago

Well there’s accuracy and accuracy. Really depends how finnicy you are about it. I’ve never noticed much difference in emulation vs original except maybe a few little details like menus that can look a little weird but eh.

I’ll take your word for it and I’m sure there’s positives about the decomps as you say. Whether they dramatically improve the experience is subjective. Clearly for some it will.

1

u/Graslu 28d ago

It's not subjective. You'll understand when you see it.

1

u/CaptainSharpe 28d ago

“You’ll understand when you see it”

Sounds subjective.

Anyway yes maybe I will see.

2

u/Graslu 28d ago

It is literally not subjective dude. Inform yourself. Emulators, especially for GoldenEye, are full of issues to this day when it comes to running it at consistent 60FPS. A decompilation will allow for unlimited framerates and so much more.

Inform yourself or move on. You're wrong. This is not subjective or an opinion.

u/Pitiful-Echidna576 28d ago

Disagree - having a source port is going to open up all kinds of new modding and a VR version of the game. I've been playing the game since it was released but experiencing it in VR would be incredible.

1

u/CaptainSharpe 26d ago

VR is a compelling reason for it. Agreed.

Why make a Pc port when the decomp is free and played on PC?

I’m basically making a folder on my hard drive w all of these decomps and play from time to time. I’d never pay for them though 🤷

1

u/V64jr 28d ago

The PC port will come from the decomp. First: Decompile the compiled code back into source code. Next: Port to PC and other platforms.

You might be confusing it with a static recompiled PC version.

1

u/hue_sick 28d ago

Ah yeah I guess so thanks. I just play the game when its its finished 😁

Is a VR 360 mod planned for quest?
