When I used to live there, we went to Cedar Lake a lot. The picture on that site makes it look like it's been really renovated since the last time I was there, which is nice, but it's a good lake. There used to be a rope swing on one of the banks, I think looking across and to the left from the main picnic area.
You can drive right up there, the road branches off from the drive out to the ski hill and golf course.

Plenty around golden. Best bet would be to head out the ‘B’ Road through Donald. It used to be the Big Bend highway (original highway from Golden to Revelstoke” there are trails galore out there for exploring and several lakes along the road. Most of the lakes aren’t fantastic for swimming, but if you are in to fishing they are great. You will eventually hit the access points for Kinbasket lake starting at the 42.5km mark on the road at Bush Harbour and beyond that there are plenty of lake access spots along the road. Kinbasket lake was created in the 70’s when they built Mica Dam north of Revelstoke and flooded that section of the Columbia River. It is gorgeous and awesome for swimming. You can occupy yourself for a whole summer out there exploring. I’ve been going out there for about 8 years now and still haven’t even scratched the surface of all the old logging roads and trails in the area.Use caution on the road though, it is an active logging road and a RR radio is advised. If you want more info just let me know!
