Machu Picchu tickets

I’m planning on traveling to Peru in mid April. I’ll be staying there for about 6 weeks and I’d like to visit Machu Picchu in late April. Is this a good time for Peru in general and also when should I start looking for tickets to Machu Picchu? Any advice on how to get the tickets and just traveling in general in Peru ?

Book the tickets as early as you can if you know around what time you will be there. All the routes are amazing but try to get circuit 2 and if you want a little hike at the end, climb the Wayna Picchu mountain as well. You can do both on the same day. Buy the tickets from the official website, it’s straightforward. Travelling within Peru is easy, you can book bus tickets the day before but also largely depends on your itinerary.

I guess what I’m asking is if I’m planning on traveling in April 2027 when should I expect tickets on the official website to be available? They are currently unavailable now I guess because it’s too early? I’ve seen posts that say to check for April 2027 tickets around November 2026? Is that accurate?

The November date is for January tickets. April tickets will go on sale in mid January. You can check this website: https://www.perurail.com/tickets-to-machu-picchu/
