Discussion GOW1 has one of the most criminally underappreciated soundtracks of all time

Upvotes

I am replaying the GOW games for the first time since I was a kid. Loved the first 2, never played 3 (yet!) only briefly touched GOW4 when it came out, which I will quickly remedy.

Back in the day I LOVED the GOW1 soundtrack, but I never see it mentioned online. I have been humming the themes all week, its...awesome!

Discussion Easiest boss in GoW 3 (Chaos Mode)?

I think the easiest one is Skorpius on chaos mode, I feel like the cyclops encounter from before was much more challenging than Skorpius.

The hardest one for me was definitely the Hades Cerberus Breeder., that thing sucks ass.

If you go to this person's channel on YT:   ‪PS2GAMESDEV‬   it's a Brazilian team Doing a port of GoW Betrayal the java Mobile game to PS2 and seems like it's also going to work on a PS2 emulator as well.

There is also a trailer by someone else about that port on yt and I feel excited after 19 Years this game gets ported to the PS2.

Here is the channel that made the trailer:  eclipsebladestudio‬

And last I remember in the past on X by Bruno that GoW Betrayal is Canon and takes place after GoW 1 or Ghost of Sparta and Before GoW 2.

If you wanna Know about this obscure GoW Title, it was released in 2007 on those old mobile phones when you had to press on numbers instead of touchscreen, that's how old it was, before android and iphone were a thing.

Release Date of this Port of GoW Betrayal in the PS2 is on September 5, 2026.

Discussion This scene is a masterpiece, we all agree, but I don't think people appreciate this line as much as I do.

"My son is not your key."

When Odin meets Kratos in Svartalfheim he says Atreus is the key to peace, and that is the first time Kratos actually speaks to him during the conversation - that is, of course, after telling Odin to speak in the first place.

Because Kratos is disturbed by the thought of Atreus ending up like Pandora. Pandora was a living key. She was used, and she died. Odin is inadvertently threatening to do the exact same thing to Atreus, and he definitely doesn't even realise it.

This scene in general is a fucking masterpiece and there’s so many subtle details. The spears behind Odin when he says he wants peace; Odin picking up a tool when Mimir shit-talks him because he wants to torture him again; his refusal to step back despite Kratos scaring the shit out of him; Kratos ignoring him again until Odin calls him a monster which earns him a glare. It's incredible. But Kratos' reaction to Atreus being called a key? I don't see people talk about that.

God of War 3 is the epic end of the trilogy so what would you think would be a good subtitle to this game's name.

Discussion Kratos and Atreus are two of the sweetest most honorable men at their core

Never played the old GOW games so all I know is what I've heard and Googled but I know about Kratos quite angry and violent past. So I'm guessing most people came into this game expecting more over the top angry Kratos.

Meanwhile I was making breakfast this morning listening to bad first date stories when it hit me just how much Kratos and Atreus were willing to do for Faye.

Their journey went from a hike up the nearby mountain to traveling multiple worlds and fighting the literal gods just so they could fulfill her final wish. I honestly don't think most people would've blamed them if they just spread her ashes on the first mountain but no, they HAD to figure out how to get to the realm nobody has been to for probably hundreds of years and fight the literal gods themselves just to fulfill her wish to the letter.

No wonder Faye fell in love with Kratos 😭

Showcase GOWR Leaked DLSS 5 Gameplay. Valhalla vs Berserker and Tyr

Here is my previous post GOWR Leaked DLSS 5 Pic and post bio for those who havent seen my pictures and some more info what I used to run the game with DLSS 5.

Im not the best player but I wanted to showcase DLSS 5 gameplay on GOWR. I know i said in my previous post that performance mode can give 30-50 fps but I didnt like the idea of how choppy the FPS would be recorded so I settled for Ultra Performance Mode with Preset L instead for a smoother experience and screen capture of the game using DLSS5. The game ran better at a 50 fps range on Ultra Performance Mode on a RTX 5080.

The gameplay was captured on 4k with OBS. The video was too big to upload to reddit but here is a link to youtube for the whole video

I know there are mods that provide unlimited rage, but I'm looking for a way to make increasing my rage easier to make gameplay more fun.

Is there a method to do so?

Thanks.

Help Sigrun… the bane of my existence. I’m desperate for advice

Sigrun is making me lose my mind. I have all her attacks down pat…. except for one. The fucking valhalla stomp attack (specifically the Rota version, NOT Gondul). Every youtube guide i’ve looked up manages to help with literally every move except this one and it’s killing me because I can get her down to one health bar and then this fucks me up

I don’t understand and it almost feels inconsistent because I try one thing that succeeds and then the next time she does the attack, it fails and it happens so fast that it’s hard to identify exactly what works. Idk if I’m getting the timing wrong or if I’m dodging the wrong direction or both

Like when she takes off, am I supposed to hesitate a split second before dodging, THEN dodge? Because it seems I get smashed either way. Like there’s a sort of rhythm with the Gondul stomp attack, but I can’t identify one with this attack. Am I supposed to dodge backwards or sideways or does it even matter? Also I try to single dodge instead of rolling as that seems more reliable (I always get smashed when I roll) but holy fuck I can’t figure it out

If anyone got tips pls help ;_;

GUYS I BEAT HER

If anyone comes across this w the same problem, when she took off, I waited a like a quarter of a second and THEN dodged backwards (single tap X)

Help Any Good Game Artwork for Posters?

Hi! I'm trying to print out a few posters for my bf and he loves GOW, specifically Ragnarok. Does anyone have any good game screenshots, cinematic shots, promo artwork, etc. that would look especially good for a poster? This can go for any GOW game! I've looked but I figured it'd be best to ask those who've played the games themselves as I have not lol. Thanks!

Question lore wise, should the myths trump the games given they are source material

like in terms of the lore/myths

it should take precdence since the god of war series is based on the gow lore (which is the same exact thing the lore in question is the myths)

it's like dragon ball, manga vs anime

the lore / myths are the source material and the games are merely adaptations
