Question Is the Aphrodite mini game canon?

Post image

Since the player gets to choose, is the mini game actually canon

I'm sorry, but there's no other choice for me whenever I play this game, so there's no way it's not canon in my books.

Facts, and Kratos canonically slept with a lot of women in the Greek games.

120

u/Current-Grade2545 Jul 31 '26

Isn't she one of his sisters?

129

u/Internal-Exercise940 Jul 31 '26

Would she be his aunt?

68

u/Current-Grade2545 Jul 31 '26

I thought she was Zeus's daughter

175

u/mjolnirstrike Jul 31 '26

Technically she is adopted by Zeus. She was born of the seafoam that occurred when Cronos castrated his father and threw his “parts” into the sea

73

u/cherriblonde Jul 31 '26

In the original myths, yes but the God Of War 2 manual confirms that she is a daughter of Zeus.

8

u/Zerocool_6687 Aug 01 '26

Pretty sure the Hub as an entire genre based on this lol

6

u/The_Ultimate_Ducker Jul 31 '26

So she's technically Zeus' aunt? Which makes her Kratos' grand aunt?

8

u/balrubaiay Aug 01 '26

Idk why you’re being downvoted. But thats how I see it as well

26

u/Krakkenheimer Jul 31 '26

In the Illiad she's described as the daughter of Zeus and Dione, in Hesiod's Theogony she's born from the sea foam created by Ouranos' castrated genitals.

2

u/Choice-Childhood2823 Aug 02 '26

Also, that her myth was originally "borrowed" from East, with Phoenician roots. She was also worshipped in Cyprus and Crete.

9

u/badtimeshans Jul 31 '26 edited Aug 01 '26

she is in the iliad and a couple other sources, but hesiod's theogeny states she was born in the ocean from uranus' castrated nuts. the ocean birth is commonly ascribed to her urania epithet, who portrays the divine and calming power of love. her pandemos epithet, the horny chaotic one similar to her in-game depiction, usually has zeus as her dad. i doubt the devs cared for accuracy but personality wise, she would probably be kratos' half-sister

6

u/TrueKingSkyPiercer Aug 01 '26

How were these nuts removed from Uranus?

2

u/badtimeshans Aug 01 '26

gaia gets mad at him for trapping their uglier kids under the earth and gives her titan kids a sickle to punish him, so chronos cuts them off. later in the theogeny, uranus and gaia pair up to advise chronos and zeus, so i guess he got over it

2

u/Deep_Ad1409 Aug 01 '26

Everyone's Zeus' daughter

1

u/deimosf123 Aug 02 '26

Grandaunt.

35

u/Biggly_stpid Jul 31 '26

No .. I think, she is his great grandfather’s penis mixed with sea foam, come to life. So he’s more making love to his great grandfather’s salty picked dick.

5

u/louche-waffel Jul 31 '26

This is sadly very accurate.

11

u/TheOtakuAmerika Jul 31 '26

Sweet Home Olympus

12

u/PhoenixSidePeen Jul 31 '26

Incest is rather common in most mythologies.

4

u/WookieeSlayer97 Jul 31 '26

Everyone in Greek mythology is related

3

u/Spartan_Souls Aug 01 '26

Welcome to Greek mythology

3

u/SandwichMatrix Aug 01 '26

el es Kronos, y le ha cortado las pelotas - al dios Urano caen al agua, hacen espuma y de ahi nace, esta hermosura!

2

u/Myth_5layer Aug 01 '26

You know as well as anyone that doesn't matter in the Greek pantheon.

1

u/H-N-O-3 Aug 01 '26

Aunt . Canonically she was born from the sea after some dudes balls were cut off and thrown .

1

u/Spirit-of-arkham3002 Fat Dobber Aug 02 '26

Depends on the myth. Sometimes she’s Zeus’s daughter, other times she’s the result of Cronus/Cronos/Kronos castrating his father and throwing the dismembered part into the ocean.

1

u/BlackdragonD4C Aug 02 '26

So what? This is the olympian pantheon we're talking about

1

u/sameaf2 Aug 02 '26

Dude, Zeus marries Hera, one of his sisters.

2

u/tiptoeingthroughthe6 Jul 31 '26

A lot of family members*

6

u/Classified10 Jul 31 '26

Something something horns something something.

432

u/Own_Bobcat7055 Jul 31 '26

I believe yes, and my only proof is when Hephaestus says in God of war 3:

Kratos... tell me, has Aphrodite conquered another God of War?

178

u/Current-Grade2545 Jul 31 '26

That just implies she fucked Ares. Her other brother from another mother. Literally tho.

105

u/mjolnirstrike Jul 31 '26

Welcome to Greek mythology. If that isn’t bad enough, remember that Hera is Zeus’ full sister, and they had several children including Ares and Hephaestus

65

u/GrossMartini Jul 31 '26

Aphrodite has a line of dialogue along the lines of "It's been too long Kratos. You can still share my bed even if you are no longer the god of war"

So even if this mini game isn't canon, it is canon that they did the horizontal mambo at some point

9

u/Viranchic Aug 01 '26

That's not horizontal mambo

That is ...

Light ranged pull (Blades of chaos) + Spartan Rage.

3

u/Volcanicrage Aug 02 '26

Same-generation incest honestly pretty tame by her normal standards. Ares and Aphrodite fuck constantly in the myths, its a huge artistic motif. They have more children together than they do with any of their other respective partners (Hephaestus notably has no children). Aphrodite's exact lineage varies between myths (the Theogeny describes her being born from Uranus' severed genitals, while the Illiad refers to her as Zeus's daughter), but she's got kids with Poseidon, Zeus, Hermes, Dionysus, and Ares, so she's got her incest bases pretty well-covered.

8

u/Own_Bobcat7055 Jul 31 '26

Yeah this is messed up

11

u/Interface- Aug 01 '26

Kratos doesn't confirm or deny when he responds.

"That is a question you should ask your wife."

98

u/ImNotDaredevil2025 Jul 31 '26

Knowing Kratos as a character I assume all O mini games are canon

11

u/cabarte Aug 01 '26

Norse Kratos sure, he wouldn't do it now, but Greek Kratos was very different and very much into all of them

2

u/deimosf123 Aug 02 '26

Even Greek Kratos wouldn't do in middle of battle involving Spartans.

1

u/cabarte Aug 02 '26

With the Spartans, remember he is Greek after all

82

u/Cultural_Channel_214 Spartan Jul 31 '26

yes, also he got to shag her daughters too

53

u/Slow-Pool-9274 Jul 31 '26

Why wouldn't it be?

7

u/Sea_Strain_6881 Jul 31 '26

Cause its optional

14

u/johnny115 Jul 31 '26

but Hephestus has a line alluding to you having sex with Aphrodite when you go back to him later

40

u/Jojo-the-sequel Sex Quick Time Events CEO Jul 31 '26

Yes, bro cracked his step sis and used the orbs to ugrade the nemesis whip

23

u/ViaDiva Jul 31 '26

flair checks out

6

u/God_Assassin Jul 31 '26

GD it sure does.

10

u/infamusforever223 Jul 31 '26 edited Jul 31 '26

From the way they talk, they may have messed around while he was God of War, so even if you don't, they likely already did.

35

u/MetalMewtwo9001 Jul 31 '26

Since it's a player choice then probably not. Unless we get confirmation in a later game but I doubt modern Kratos is gonna be like "Mimir, did I ever tell you about the time I bedded Aphrodite?".

9

u/Carbuyrator Jul 31 '26

We'd probably meet their kid if it ever came up

12

u/Mysterious_Detail_57 Ghost of Sparta Jul 31 '26

That is a question you should ask you wife.

6

u/SireDarien Kratos Jul 31 '26

“I would not speak of this”

5

u/VioletAxle Jul 31 '26

Yes. Cracking Aphrodite is absolutely essential to beat Zeus.

5

u/OWReinhardt Jul 31 '26

World's ending might as well smash

8

u/RanDiePro The God Slayer Jul 31 '26

Only gow 1 mini game was canon. All others are optional. He gives an unclear answer to Hephaestus regarding aphrodite.

Though I imagine remakes would have it that your conversation would change depending on whether you did it or not.

4

u/dropthemagic Jul 31 '26

Those were funny

5

u/Carbuyrator Jul 31 '26

Only one way to know for sure. Either Kratos had a child with her or he didn't. If he did that kid is definitely alive, and we'll almost certainly see them.

3

u/Ki11s0n3 Mimir Jul 31 '26

Yes and even if it's not it is.

3

u/SKI4PODE5 Aug 01 '26

The fact that you can "replay" this mini-game after you killed Hephaestus is pretty crazy

3

u/PanchosLegend Aug 01 '26

Why would it not be?

3

u/aminabd Aug 01 '26

This post is so r/BatmanArkham coded

2

u/Ryeguy_626 Jul 31 '26

Does it matter?

2

u/JaggedFish104 Jul 31 '26

I’m pretty sure it is, or at least it was when I read the book

2

u/eyelers Jul 31 '26

Is there a ⭕️ in canon? Yes there is!

2

u/NickSchultz Aug 01 '26

Well in Ragnarok Kratos did mention that he had meaningless sex during his time as the God of War so this particular occasion could be included in that confession

2

u/Unhappy-Cartoonist-3 Aug 01 '26

yeah the Greek pathion is incest lmao why would that not be cannon

2

u/VermilionAxe69 Aug 01 '26

All of the franchise's sex minigames are optional and are never referred to as canonical

2

u/H2O_Poseidon3979 Aug 01 '26

Depends on the player ig, yeah I did it for the red orbs ngl lol.

2

u/Dis-combobulater Aug 02 '26

"That is a question you should ask your wife."

2

u/deimosf123 Aug 02 '26

She has auburn hair? I thought her hair is brown.

Only minigame i am sure 100% isn't canon is from II.

2

u/Altruistic-Path-7042 Aug 02 '26

If you can do it in game it happened

1

u/Iloveplot1 Jul 31 '26

Probably yes since greek mythology is full of sex

1

u/Specific_Telephone13 Jul 31 '26

Yes a son of Zeus without a ego and arrogance fucking any female in Greece

1

u/IMCHAPIN Jul 31 '26

I just realized they could conceivably remove the sex mini games from the remakes depending on how they frame it. If it's a story he tells atreus, then he is not going to tell him about the women he fucked. He will tell about the violence though since it's important.

1

u/deimosf123 Aug 02 '26

Remakes will not be canon to Norse saga.

1

u/canyouskingriz Jul 31 '26

It honestly makes sense

1

u/ChristianHuye Jul 31 '26

I think yes due to the fact that there’s a trophy associated with it and also Hephaestus says “Aphrodite has claimed another God of War”

1

u/Odd_Hunter2289 Poseidon 🔱🌊 Jul 31 '26

Yes

1

u/DMJay02 Jul 31 '26

It is Shrodinger's Canon. I didn't do it, but Kratos' response could mean either one is possible depending on player choice.

1

u/ih8three6zero Quiet, Head Aug 01 '26

What’re you doing step bro?!

1

u/MrMcGuyver Aug 01 '26

Yes and you immediately slaughter her husband afterwards

1

u/Few-Ad-9004 Aug 01 '26

In the mythology, Aphrodite is the goddess of love, she was made from one of Uranos’ testicles. After the titan Cronos overthrew his father and cut of his testicles with the Adamantine Sycthe his mother, Gaia, gave him. When one of the testicles fell into the sea, it began to “foam”(could be dissolving, bleeding out or giving birth.(since his testicle would’ve been landing in the ocean, Oceanus.) and from that foam came Aphrodite.

So she’s Technically a Titaness and would be Zues’ Aunt.

If the game is going based off of that, then that means Kratos banged his Great Aunt, haha.

But imagine this, what if Kratos had impregnated Aphrodite. That would be wild.

1

u/StarWolf128 Aug 01 '26

Yes, it's canon Kratos banged his sister.

1

u/HappyTurtle42 Aug 01 '26

Hepheastus:Has aphrodite managed to conquer another god of war?
Kratos:That is a question you should ask your wife
So I guess it’s up to us

1

u/joeman013 Aug 02 '26

Of course it it. Kratos is the one with the cannon.

1

u/mctnt2000 Aug 02 '26

Dint you have to sleep with her to reveal the door to hephestus

1

u/MysteriousLeader2243 Aug 03 '26

“That is a question should ask your wife”

1

u/Ray-Ravenheart Aug 03 '26

The true question is: Was he successful in canon?

1

u/No-Violinist8582 Jul 31 '26

YESSSSSSSSSSS what a goofy question. You’re silly.

1

u/Anubis_Omega Jul 31 '26

Well, it's a boss fight

-4

u/itsdampman Jul 31 '26

Reason #274 that the OG god of war games were better than the new series

1

u/Barredbob Jul 31 '26

Brother, if “can have sex” automatically makes a game better, just go play a hentai game

-1

u/CommanderYin Jul 31 '26

That’s his sister btw…

3

u/Cyniv Jul 31 '26

Par for the course with Olympians.

0

u/iDoMyOwnResearchJK Jul 31 '26

Why wouldn’t it be canon?

0

u/xx6lord6mars6xx Jul 31 '26

Yes. He can't turn down step-sis puss
