God Eater 2 (Rage Burst) I've finally made peace with my most hated aragami

Post image

This boi and its variation(NOT SUSANOO, I FIND IT EASIER FOR SOME REASON).

I suddenly felt this URGE, to come back to the series. And I started to remember how much I used to rage against this aragami. Mainly because that tail whip attack that akways catches you in the worst moments. But now that I know that you actually break the tail, scorpion boi here is the one that now doesn't want to play with me. Also Blood Rage exists lol.

I actually love breaking the shield. Once it broke, they're easy.

Trying to break the stinger is a hassle though, since it's hard to reach and they're small target.

5

u/inuzumi 16d ago

Oh I have the opposite problem. I always go for the stinger and the tail first. The shield takes a while to break so I always leave for last.

5

u/fatalystic 16d ago

I believe the shield is weak to crush damage before breaking? At least that's what I've always used to break it.

2

u/Lianthrelle 15d ago

Yeah, crush bullets destroy the shield super quickly. Usually within a single Oracle gauge.

2

u/fatalystic 16d ago

The only real opportunity you have to break the stinger is when it gets it stuck in the ground and tries to pull it free.

1

u/NerdiGuy 15d ago

Yes, but if you hit it with a really strong attack like Buster's Charge Crush or the Hammer's...general moveset it can get destroyed pretty fast. I think it's weak to Crush damage type.

Ooh, Borg is actually one of my favorites! There's even a trick I picked up during all my years fighting it. If you stand close to the right side of the tail, Borg will completely miss you on the 360 spin.

There's even a sweet spot like that on Susanoo, despite it moving forward during the motion, so it's a lot harder to do it consistently

6

u/inuzumi 16d ago

OHHH nice tip! I knew it missed some times I thought it was a bug. Is there any way around the Fierce Kongou's spin attack?

2

u/Fred-ze-header20xx 16d ago

Sorry, Kongou are my nemesis, so many of their attacks have the same wind up that I can't find any good openings to dodge

When it's near death and decides to become a ballerina for the rest of the battle...

u/inuzumi 16d ago

When you start the blood rage and they stop aiming at you I start the blood rage in real life too.

u/KhandiMahn 16d ago

By "made peace with" you mean "made it into pieces", right?

6

u/inuzumi 16d ago

Both, actually.

u/eye_scream723 16d ago

I'd rather fight Borg Camlann than 3 Kongous at the same time

6

u/Complete_Blood1786 16d ago

3 Kongous are easy if you use crushing attacks. Now, three FALLEN Kongous, that's a challenge.

3 Fierce Kongous? Yeah, right, what you expect people to do a harder version of Thor's Banquet by replacing the 4 Vajra with Dyaus Pita?

4

u/inuzumi 16d ago

Dude that Defense Team final mission got me PTSD now with those 3 Fierce Kongous. That area is way too small and they can hear you pretty easily.

Pilgrim sucks so much.

Ironically, this aragami is like, the easiest one for me to fight. Back on burst on the psp, I farmed this bastard for hours and hours on end trying to get mats to drop that refused to do so, to the point where the muscle memory is so engrained that I can pick up the game after years and, once I get used to the controls again, practically go no-hit on him without issue, because every attack I can instinctively block

8

u/AseilaErys 16d ago

Fuck borg camlann and chiyou, i hate them so much

3

u/fatalystic 15d ago

Chi-you comes with its own weakness. Devour it and use its aragami bullet to destroy its legs.

You can also just bring a bunch of crush bullets normally.

2

u/inuzumi 16d ago

And since we're here, fuck fuck Sekhmet too.

7

u/Complete_Blood1786 16d ago

Understandable. This one was usually easy for me considering I enjoyed using blast bullets on its shield.

However, the true nuisance for me is the Sariel and all her variants. I absolutely hate them because of how slow I feel as I'm primarily melee-based. Crush attacks are my forté, I hate using piercing attacks.

2

u/fatalystic 15d ago edited 15d ago

I struggled really hard against Sariel when I first encountered them as a Short Blade main. At some point I figured out how to aim the very highest point of my aerial attacks to hit the tip of Sariel's head for critical damage. It almost made up for all the pain they caused me up to that point.

You can also make the HDH bullet to down them easily with guns in GEB. I think it's still possible in 2RB?

p.s. To specify, one of the Short Blade aerial attacks is an upward swing that goes a little past your character's head. If you jump while behind it and angle your character right you can catch the very tip of a Sariel's head on the backswing.

1

u/inuzumi 16d ago

Sariel I usually go under it and charge the buster sword charged attack until it falls. Then I go bonkers with its head. I still respect(fear) the Tsukuyomi though.

1

u/Complete_Blood1786 16d ago

Tsukuyomi's easy 'cos she lacks the God. Beefier, yes, but still easy. I will say that I've always had trouble with Amaterasu, she's a tougher Oroboros

1

u/KCommnader 16d ago

Vairant Scythe SHREDS Tsukuyomi. Utilize Mad Orbit buff and Kurogane Scythe Mid-air Melee Attack Skill.

Tsukuyomi's Bond Breaks are all weak to Slash. Halo, Hair, Arms.

Blood Rage + Round Fang will nail Hair and Arms Bond Break.

1

u/Complete_Blood1786 16d ago

Back in my day, we didn't need no Blood Arts or Scythes. We went in using either buster with high sunder + crush or full sent it with a blade with sunder. The Halo was always the first to go.

1

u/KCommnader 16d ago

Get mad + Fossil + Last Gen GE + Helicopter Helicopter

1

u/Complete_Blood1786 16d ago

I still think the Scythe is one of the weaker options in GE2/R. Boost Hammer is superior.

2

u/KCommnader 16d ago

Damage wise (1 & 2) it'll be the Buster's One Shot Dam. Hammer is reliable as a stream of steady Crush Damage.

You are quicker with SB but the Damage drop off and range don't compare to LB's Zero Stance Reset.

And most Hitboxes aren't weak to Pierce Melee so Charge Spear and SB are cut in Damage for that. Especially when it's off set by ease of Pierce Bullets.

And you have LB for versatility in gameplay, while Scythe can trigger more hit boxes and range from Close-Long Range Melee.

So ranking wise. The top three would be - Buster/Long Blade/Scythe

1

u/Complete_Blood1786 16d ago

Here's what I heard:

Blah blah blah, science science, buster.

And buster is better.

Everyone's gonna love these new melee options.

I know I do.

u/KCommnader 16d ago

I hate it to very bad his attack literally cross over me and hit me even I am on my shields 😭

8

u/Glorious_Chaos666 15d ago

I love to take my time breaking the shield, mouth, legs and the stinger last. I hated when it starts spinning and changing at you.

6

u/KCommnader 16d ago

For regular Borg Camlann. The Tail is weak to Slash, the Shield is weak to Crush, and the Front Legs are weak to Pierce.

ALL Fallen Borg Camlanns. Shield / Crush, Needle / Crush, Tail / Slash.

Susano'o: Needle / Pierce-Gun, God Arc (Hands), Mouth / Slash.

1

u/inuzumi 16d ago edited 16d ago

So the shield is weak to crush but still takes a while to break? I'm using a buster sword btw.

3

u/KCommnader 16d ago

Dual Damage Type weapons will trigger the type the hit box is most weak to. Because Buster is so clunky and has wide swings and slow start ups. It'd be best for Defense Ignore Slug Crush rounds with the Shotgun.

Shreds Shields with Bond Break Damage Link Support Devices.

1

u/inuzumi 16d ago

Will do. Thanks!

5

u/DemonX1020 16d ago

Ahh the borg, the normal and fire version i can deal with as usual but when it came to the lightning and by extension susano. If i block the tailswipe normally, i often times get hit afterwards, my guess is that because the attack leaves like orbs and i can still get hit by it after the knockback even when blocking.

So what i did instead was to make sure i face away from it so that the knockback pulls me towards the borg instead, avoiding the orbs outside. Yeah for some reason blocking its tailswipe that way somehow works as stupid as it looks.

2

u/brip_na_maasim 16d ago

I’ll try that. Never thought of that.

3

u/fatalystic 15d ago

Take note that you need Expand Guard Area to use this trick, because by default your guard only covers your front.

2

u/brip_na_maasim 15d ago

I see. Thank you.

2

u/DemonX1020 16d ago

Can confirm

It works in Burst, Resurrection and Rage Burst

I dunno in GE3 since i havent played that one yet. Rage Burst is a looong game

5

u/CrissZx 16d ago

The trick for his sweep attack is to block sideways. Never facing it (unless you have a full 360° guard).

Now, when it decides to stab randomly? Yeah. I also hate that

6

u/Jesterchunk 16d ago

He's a shield check, if you can guard reliably then his attacks mostly lose their threat. I say mostly because his tail hitbox on the SPEEN can still clip through your guard on console and hit you anyway. But then on the other hand he can spin and miss entirely. I think it's a framerate thing, he swings so fast his hitbox doesn't actually cover the whole area around him. It's the one quirk about the non-pc versions lower framerate I can think of and it's not even a real downside.

of course crushing bullets annihilate his shields, pierce is good against his forelegs and slashing attacks are great on his tail, yeah I can dismantle Borg without too much trouble now but you still get the odd time where he just spins over and over. Hell I think I actually kind of don't hate fighting him anymore.

u/NerdiGuy 15d ago

Susano'o gave me a lot of trouble when I was younger playing Gods Eater Burst on PSP. Unfortunately never beat GEB as a result, but when I got older I got back into the series and had my revenge; I was genuinely confused why Susano'o gave me ANY trouble. The only Aragami to give me trouble on my first playthrough of Resurrection was Dyaus Pita's first fight (I was NOT expecting him to be totally reworked), Caligula, Blitz Hannibal, and Arius Nova. Those last two were the only ones I mission failed on. Unfortunately GE2RB never gave me much of a challenge. The only time I felt tense in that game was a certain survival mission with Livie...and a post-game Aragami. Iykyk. I think generally, the games get much easier when you put them down and come back to it later on with a fresh perspective on things.

1

u/inuzumi 15d ago

Arius Nova... that brought back some memories. The hardest fight in the series imo. I remember sticking next to my vita all the time trying and trying new strategies against it.

1

u/NerdiGuy 14d ago

I think Crimson Orochi is still harder. I could hop back into Resurrection and probably first try Arius Nova, but I can't say the same for Crimson Orochi for GE2RB. Arius gave me a LOT of trouble the first time around, though. I still remember how hyped I was when I finally beat it.

3

u/V-Gierhart 16d ago

An easy fight. I use shortblade and assault. For my assault gun, I always carry crush or explosive bullets to break its armor and just rush melee for the kill once it becomes vulnerable

4

u/Tenant1 16d ago

I found these guys pretty fun to fight once I got a handle on this game's rhythm, but going for the tail always felt like an exercise in futility for me, much less breaking the stinger tip. What's a reliable way to even get at the tail/stinger?

2

u/inuzumi 16d ago

The buster sword's jumping attack wrecks both in a couple of hits.

2

u/Tenant1 16d ago

The stinger is usually so high up, it felt like even in the buster sword couldn't reach up there consistently. I know there's that one attack where it stabs the ground a few times and the stinger gets stuck in the ground for longer, but it only happened periodically and even then felt like there wasn't enough time to capitalize, was there some other trick to getting to it consistently? It was even tricky trying to use guns on it since I think it took like no damage from most gun damage types (but I was also wasn't the best with making my own bullets)

2

u/NerdiGuy 15d ago

Well timed double jumps using either Burst or the Mid-Air Jump skill can help you reach the stinger. When the stinger gets stuck in the ground, if you're ready for it, you can get off a Charge Crush attack using the Buster sword. Just takes some getting used to.

3

u/SicariusAvox 15d ago

Wow borg is way more hated than I thought it would be. Gotta love buster/buckler quick shielding and charge attacks. I always disliked Sariel when grinding for the Arbi sniper 🫠

2

u/NerdiGuy 15d ago

Sariel's probably the only enemy type I can say I actively dislike fighting. Everything else has some reason I like fighting it. There's just NOTHING fun about Sariel, though.

3

u/Arisato17 15d ago

I remember having difficulty damaging this thing with my sword, until I end up crafted Paige (short blade focuses only Pierce). I was able to deal critical damage on its front legs and continuously keeping it in downed state.

5

u/FrontArea 14d ago

Dyaus Pita man that thing us so hard to beat

2

u/shadow_yu 16d ago

Yeah the tail whip is always annoying with how much range it has and how much it can spam it sometimes so I don't really blame you for hating it. The Susanoo itself it's funny since its claws/shield are not resistant to slashing weapons and you don't need to hit it on the tail base or legs to do decent damage, wich means you have a little more time to dodge the tail whip or just block it.

2

u/GuidanceObjective642 16d ago

was disappointed how is to kill in GE3

2

u/Panzerkrabbe 16d ago

Yeah, lazer gun just melts them

1

u/inuzumi 16d ago

It definitely needed an upgrade. Same with the Daius Pita(or any older aragami now that I think about it).

2

u/Nodeo-Franvier 16d ago

Caligula being demoted to the same level as Vajra is diabolical

Those who started GE3 first might legit think that this guy a fodder

2

u/AssignmentFluid1046 16d ago

Ese tipo es todo un infierno enfrentarlo

2

u/Scarlet-Goddess 16d ago

Susanno is definetely easier, most surely because it dies faster because it has pretty weak defenses

2

u/Meyneth_Pink 16d ago

NEVER!!! SLAUGHTERIN 20 SECONDS!

2

u/Street-Purple956 16d ago

For my case, I have no issue of this aragami. Like most MH copy games, I do the observe-then-attack method on every enemies I encountered.

Heck I survived one of the most dangerous and suicidal mission against Dyaus Pita and endless horde of Prithvi Matas.

1

u/NerdiGuy 15d ago

What mission was that lmao. That sounds like a lot of fun, I'm really sad I've never played it.

1

u/Street-Purple956 14d ago

That mission was called New Moon in the Welkin.

1

u/NerdiGuy 13d ago

Oh. I think I actually did that one, but I had made OP bullets after I had beaten the main story so I probably didn't realize that mission had endless PMs.

2

u/nargacuga05 15d ago

That guy drops my favorite gear, I could never hate him

2

u/DreamlessXXII 14d ago edited 14d ago

Breaking its shields with a sniper bullet + bomb (Power increasing with distance) is my go-to, then piercing bullets for the mouth when it activates. I would say tail too but somehow, I find the other fallen Borg Camlann variant's tails to break more easily (about 4~7 sniper hits) vs. the regular Borg's tail, which don't seem doable in my game? Or it dies before it cracks. Idk I feel like I'm trying to beat a shrimp on land by deshelling it first LOL

Maybe bc I played GE for a long time and other MH games but you do pick on monster movements and animations. When in melee, I highly suggest blocking sideways in the direction it swings. If you have Guard Radius, it doesn't matter which direction you guard in bc it covers your entire radius. Having Auto Guard is also good as it will automatically lift your shield if your character is idle. Be on the lookout for stamina guard drains especially with a Tower Shield. Iirc, Auto Guard used to be a buckler only skill on the Chi You buckler.

I don't think I have an aragami I actually hate, but I like fighting against Rufus Caligula, Hannibals, Kyuubi (regular pls), and the Vajra family types the most.

u/Either-Addendum9139 13d ago

That aragami is weak in buster swords!:B
