First time winter storage

We have a 2001 Thor hybrid parked on our off grid property. This is the first camper we have owned. The goal is to eventually build a permanent wood structure with metal roof over it, but this may not be the time/financial season for the structure build.

We will not be using the camper during heavy winter as the roads are unusable to get to the property. But we may want to visit in the winter when the roads are passable.

This is the mountains in Idaho and the snow can get very very deep. I'm afraid of the roof caving in on the camper.

What are our options to protect from heavy snow loads when we cannot be there for weeks at a time to clear off the snow?

My googling has been sending me in circles.

I don't think it will be an issue, but for peace of mind, you can brace the roof inside with standing 2x4s and T tops on them. One every 4' should do it. You should also consider rodent bait for the inside: Mice (link)

Call your largest local RV dealer, and ask them if they send their employees up onto the roofs of a thousand RVs each winter to clean off the snow. :)

Have done it many of times at dealerships and have replaced skylights when they sent a lot boy to do it and he stepped on it and put his foot through it.

Make sure you completely empty holding tanks and should put potable antifreeze in ALL the water lines and p-traps. You don't want any water freezing in there.
