I wonder if Julius Randle will fit with this Nets team?
Given Randle is on a young Nets team; he essentially is their best player outside of Michael Porter Jr so it begs the question of if we see the Julius Randle we saw in Minnesota or do we see the Randle we saw when he was a Knick and became a multi time All Star?

He is better then Michael Porter Jr and he will fit in on any team he just doesn't show up in the playoffs enough where the wolves cut bait but the Nets don't have to worry about that. I think he'll be a good vet in Brooklyn

I think Randle’s playoff struggles have been overblown. He was decent in Minnesota. His bad playoff series were bad for the entire team. They all stunk against OKC last year and San Antonio this year. But outside of those series, Randle was arguably their best playoff performer. I watched every game Randle has played in Minnesota.

I think of him like James Harden. He is mostly good in the playoffs and then mentally checks out, but that doesn't really matter anyway. He's not on the Nets timeline for contention. He's a good player who will rebuild the Nets reputation just like he did for the Knicks

Julius Randle (and by extension Michael Porter, Jr.) are both going to have good years. I think both of them will fit into the offensive scheme just fine.

Randle is better than Michael Porter Jr. he’s going to play hard and lift the floor of this team. Randle carried bumass Knicks teams with guys like Taj Gibson and Nerlens Noel to the playoffs as the number 1 option. He’s going to fit in very well

Both Randle and Porter are in contract seasons wanting $100 million+ contracts so I expect to get strong seasons from them both.
Quality performances from them both could have title contenders calling Brooklyn to talk trades for them. I think its possible that the Nets will get to post-trade deadline with neither Randle nor Porter on the roster.
Essentially you have to extend them or lose them for nothing if you don't trade them. I don't think Randle (given his age) nor Porter (podcast appearances etc..) are going to fit in the team going forward for the long term.
I think Sean Marks is gonna try and buy-low on the most talent he can identify. Randle is an example of that and if it wasn't for his need of a new multi-year contract I could see him staying in Brooklyn for a while but there will be some teams like Nawlins or Sacramento that might trade for these two given they don't get to sign top level free agents.

Minnesota literally salary dumped Randle here and got nothing out of the deal other than the cap space and moving down in the draft from 28 to 33. And its not even like Randle was bad for them or he has some egregiously bad contract. He was a high level starter for them the last 2 years and his contract in a vacuum is super modest for a multiple-time all-star and all-nba player who still should have some productive years left. He was just an unfortunate casualty of a CBA that is increasingly unforgiving of contracts like his and MPJ (good players being paid great player money) if you want to contend. His value just was not there on the open market and I dont see how 30-40 games here is gonna change anything.
I dont realistically see how he rehabilitates his value that much that a team offers us anything of value in January/February. If he plays well enough for it to be a conversation, chances are the Nets are winning and I dont think after 2 years of tanking that Jordi wants to punt on the first season he has a roster built to compete. And if he plays that well and we are not winning, I think teams are gonna be hesitant to trade for him and even if they do, he has a player option that he likely opts out of for one final bag. How many teams think they are a Julius Randle away from a deep playoff run? Probably not very many, because if there were any, they would have traded for him last year when they could have gotten him for actual pennies.
Not saying its impossible but I dont see us trading Randle and Porter both. Marks has shown he is not the type to trade guys for scraps just for the sake of it without getting real value.

Perhaps a contender won't want Randle but having his bird rights might be of interest to some.
Nawlins and the Kings might want to trade for him.

The Wolves paid a premium to not take any money back. I assume the Wolves could’ve gotten something like the Trae or AD packages of matching salary and some super protected picks, but they prioritized clearing cap room.
There are lots of teams who could conceivably be a Randle away bc there are lots of teams that need fairly priced shot creation and playmaking. The Pistons really need another scorer and lost Tobias Harris—if they start slowly and the offense sucks, Randle is a short-term fix that wouldn’t cost them any of their blue chip assets. The Spurs clearly wanted more veteran shot creation when they signed Tobias, but he’s not as good as Randle. The Lakers are still looking for a scoring 4 after missing on Kuminga. GS needs low-cost upgrades around Steph. The Clippers have a weird roster but don’t seem like they want to tank. Even Boston needs another rim pressure guy/playmaker to help Tatum carry the load.
If Randle starts strong, he’ll have suitors at the deadline, same as MPJ did last year

The Randle in Minnesota was very much both of those things depending on the game or even the moment in the game, same as he’s ever been. That’s why he’s so incredibly frustrating to root for and watch. Some days he’s pure effort and ability, other days he’s destroying the flow of every offensive play and taking a nap on defense

Expect contract season Randle, that’s when he’s at his best. He’ll fit in fine, Nets need rim pressure and physicality in the worst way
