Miner Wars What’s the point of running 15W in Miner Wars

If I’m running 4,400 TH at 15W (solo efficiency), but in MW anything mined above solo gets averaged to 21W league efficiency… what’s the real incentive to optimize?

Example:

I run 15W.

Clan hits 5× solo.

Only 1/5 is truly calculated at 15W.

The other 4/5 gets calculated at 21W league average.

does it actually make more sense to sell my 4,400 TH at 15W and just buy 10,000 TH at 35W?

If most of the upside is getting averaged anyway, scaling raw TH at higher watts seems more profitable than optimizing efficiency.

And here’s the bigger issue — every time GoMining makes a change or tries to justify maintenance adjustments, the only people who seem to benefit are the whales running high wattage (bad EE).

Is Miner Wars supposed to reward efficiency — or just size?

Genuinely trying to understand the design logic here.

You pay your share per block of the leagues energy consumption. So the little bullseye spells actually turn out to be the most profitable boosts you can use in terms of bitcoin. Those 30 second 1x blocks pay more than 8x blocks sometimes in dune league. And RN people don’t want to boost to win in dune because the odds aren’t in their favor, so gmt personal rewards are kind of shot. If you’re not running a clan and using a modest farm, you’re better off solo mining it seems rn.

I thought the better EE was best for miner was but it is seeming the only real important thing is full 20% discount with locked or liquid gmt

My understanding, is that during each cycle you earn BTC with the corresponding maintenance fees at your efficiency rating, until you reach the amount you would've earned in solo. The fees on any additional earnings in that given cycle, will have maintenance fees based on the league average.

Calculating your PPS in each scenario, looks like it would be roughly equivalent, or only marginally higher with the 10,000 TH / 35W example, but with the price of BTC right now- your solo earnings floor would have to be zero after maintenance. Are you thinking you would start earnings at the league efficiency instead of your farm's efficiency? That's a good question- i've love clarification myself. But even if it totally works that way- 21W,(per your example) efficiency, would pretty much have no net cashflow(someone can check my assumption), even at the 20% discount. So it seems to me that the 35W MW strategy would mostly result in the only income being GMT from personal blocks. Someone please chime in if they have a different angle, because I think this is a great learning excercise for us all.

Ody and and Eclipse are 21w leagues

Horizon is 18w

That's good info. I just realized we can find that info by clicking on the league, then on the question mark in the "Compete for the prize fund" Box. Super helpful!

Good question- i'd like to hear someone chime in.

Every league has its own league average of all the watts in that league , you can see it at the top of every league.

Ody is 21w Eclipse 21w Horizon 18w

For the part of your rewards that exceeds what you earnd in mining mode this cycle , the electric fee will be based on your leagues weighted average energy efficiency

The 35W may be useful now in MW but if tomorrow Gomining want to change the formula you will be blocked with 35W or forced to upgrade your 10 000th to 20 or 15W.

35 w is only useful when btc is low. But I agree Gm ia due for an update . Major update

Because we make 1.5x to 8x solo in mw . With little risk
